Why don't you play what you want instead of trying to break the system like its a video game?

Because I don't know what I want to play I guess. Fair enough though, I probably wouldn't have much fun if I'm not attached to the character, I just figured I'd get into it if I knew I was packing serious heat going into the campaign. I'll spend some more time trying to figure things out on my own, just kinda outta character concepts this time around..

Final dumbass question: What allows a bard to be a skill-monkey with spells from other classes? Is it a feat or something only bard's can do?

Alright.

As a bard, you have spells mostly from the wizard/sorcerer list, as well as the cleric list. They're mostly buff and debuff spells, so no slinging fireballs or flying around.

You get a fair amount of skill points, but at least some of them need to be sunk into your Perform skill. Your most reliable and consistent role will be to provide support through music.

Don't do close combat. It always seems viable in an emergency, but bards quickly become musical punching bags in melee.

I'd heard with stuff like Contagion they could be fierce swashbucklers? And that at higher levels I could almost play them like a Magus? I miiight be just reading this from other places but have no idea what I'm reading.. Sorry again

Contagion, as per your example, gives a chance of inflicting a disease on your target when you touch them. While this can be useful, it does little to address the fact that you are a fragile musician, not a trained warrior. It's a question of Hit Points more than anything.
