>a mage from a distant land enrages the locals by referring to potions as "elixirs"
>>

>And he says it in a really weird way.
>>
>>43927348
>that little soda spot in Texas
>it's Austin
Fucking Californians.
>>
Magic vs Magick?
>>
>toon
>>
>>43927428
Born and raised in Austin, can confirm that a lot of the population is 'quirky' liberals.
I swear to God with all the jokes about Mexican immigration, there are still more Californians in Austin.
At least some of them make good food.
The Chronicle is a joke, though.
>>
>>43927348
>Calling soda coke
Fuck I hate living in the South.
>>
>>43927568
Fuck Californians, and I say this as someone from Portland where being quirky and liberal is a native trait.

They need to stay in their containment state
>>
>>43927348
>drinking the liquid jew

Enjoy getting fatter.
>>
>>43927428
It's also san antonio. Can definitely confirm that soda is way more common than coke there. At least nobody says Pop.
>>
fuck y'all Texasfags, Norcal is gorgeous. We have tress.
>>
>elves from dix'ay call all potions stamina potions, even if they recharge magika or or health.
>>
>>43927914
Been there, seent it, no you don't. Flying over Cali was really fucking weird for me, because it was all dead and dry and brown. I'm used to flying over an endless horizon of huge trees and mountains. You aint got shit for green.
>>
>>43927348
>Use both "Soda" and "Pop" interchangeably
>Wonder why this is even a thing
>Look at chart
>See I am in a green area
Well, I guess that explains it. I do find calling anything but an actual coca-cola a coke weird, but I guess it is like calling an off-brand adhesive bandage a band-aid

More seriously, what the fuck do those black areas call it?
>>
>>43927348
IT'S COLA

FUCK THE LOT OF YOU
>>
>>43928660
Fizzle
>>
More of a shibboleth thing that causes all the prices to mysteriously rise than a thing that actually enrages the locals. Unless there's a war happening.
>>
>>43928680
Just order a large, Farva.
>>
>>43928660
Yeah in the south a ton of stuff is referred to as the popular brand name. Soda? Coke. Tissues? Kleenex. Cooking spray? Pam.

Makes shopping confusing as fuck when one person means the specific brand and the other means the type of product.
>>
>>43928680
Cola is a type of soda pop, the ones like coke, pepsi or RC.
>>
>>43927348
Ridiculous.
Every good citizen of bongland knows they're called izzywizzyfizzies.
Take your elixirs and frogs legs back to foriegnland.
>>
>>43928807
TBF, even up here in the North we use brand names like Band-Aids and Jello to refer to adhesive bandages and gelatin respectively. I guess the reason we don't do it for soda is that it Pepsi is a big enough brand to make sure that not everyone thinks of Coke products when it comes to soda/pop.
>>
>>43927548
Toon?
>>
>>43928909
It's a term some shitters use to refer to player characters.
>>
I thought it was weird that Indiana was so murky, but then again people here just alternate between soda/pop with no real standard.
>>
>>43928927
Where the hell does that come from?
>>
>>43929006
Do you remember ToonTown? Literally from people RPing in that MMO.
>>
>>43927348
He'll still be better off than that one poor sap who called them "tonics."
>>
>>43928660
They're usually known as "soft drinks" or "fizzy drinks" here in England.

Do "soda" and "pop" only refer to carbonated drinks or anything drink sugary and non-natural in origin?
>>
>>43929909
* any drink
>>
>>43927348
>potions as "elixirs"
Is that what you call chrisms in yer part 'o the world? Weirdos.
>>
>>43929909
Typically carbonated drinks.

We use soft drinks as, well, but not just for the carbonated drinks, it also refer to things like lemonade as well.
Basically anything besides "hard drinks" like alcohol.
>>
>>43927348
Huh? Do you mean ichors?
>>
>>43929969
Well, commercial lemonade here is almost always carbonated unless it's "upmarket" posh stuff.
>>
>>43927914

>Implying Texas doesn't have trees
>>
>>43927914
>We have tress.
We have trees, deserts, plains, marshes, swamplands, sub-tropical beaches, cheap Mexican food, and cheap Mexican labor.
>>
>>43930163
Huh. I've literally never seen carbonated lemonade here in 'Murrica. I'm actually kinda surprised, since that seems like a no-brainer that would sell pretty well.
>>
>>43930225
Wouldn't that pretty much just be sweeter Sprite?
>>
>>43930225
It exists, but it's a store brand thing.
>>
>>43930376
Not really. Sprite is heavily artificial lemon and lime flavor. Lemonade is more like sugary lemon water.
>>
>>43928754
I don't want a large Farva I want a god damn liter of cola!

>>
>>43928660
>I do find calling anything but an actual coca-cola a coke weird, but I guess it is like calling an off-brand adhesive bandage a band-aid
I think it's mostly because Coca Cola was invented in Georgia.
>>
>>43928660
>I do find calling anything but an actual coca-cola a coke weird, but I guess it is like calling an off-brand adhesive bandage a band-aid
Did other brands even ever use coca in their drinks? Then, "coke""d make sense.

I think so.

Huh, we just call them soft-drinks here in Australia. A few people occasionally say soda and fucking nobody says pop.
>>
>Calling soda coke in the south
I've lived in the south my entire goddamn life and I have never seen this happen unless someone wanted an actual Coca-Cola.

Live there, yes we do. The central valley is a barren shithole, but both the Sierras and the Costal Ranges have some of the biggest trees in the world. Talk shit about Californians all you want, but don't talk shit about California's nature.
>>43930202
California also has all of those.
>>
>>43927911
I hear both, depending on whether they are commiefornian or American

It's there, its just usually in the Sparkling Water section. Yknow, the one section the next aisle over that people ignore?
>>
>>43929909
I'm from northern Michigan. Pop is carbonated, anything else is referred to as what it is specifically.
>>
This chart...is not accurate.

Source: Nigga I live in New York. No one says "soda". Ever.

Most people say Coke, or just the name of the drink.

It always makes me wonder - do they literally get ingredients from R'lyeh? Or maybe it's made from hand-pressed abominations from hellish dimensions? It's so confusing.
Either way, your fizzlesippings producers sound badass.
>>
>>43929969
Wow, I never put together that soft referred to the absence of alcohol. I dunno I guess I thought it meant the sweetness was "soft" on the pallet or something.

I bet the Yankees did this

I've oddly never once heard anything but "soda" when it comes to generics, and I'm from Houston and have tons of family in East Texas

You are aware that literally 1/3 of the entire state of Texas is a giant pine forest, right? Only West Texas is even close to a desert, and even then it's not a technical desert.

>uneducated Califag confirmed
>>
>>43934098
>California also has all of those.
Yeah, but at California prices, and with California legal shenanigans.
>>
>>43934750
Yup. West Texas is classified as Semi-Arid I believe, since we're only at the edge of a desert We still have water and a good amount of plant life, it's just all mesquite.
>>43927914
