Inspired by a thread a week or so ago full of all sorts of megafauna for some anon's primordial campaign.
So /tg/, how does one go about making such a campaign feel primordial?
Has anyone ever been in a campaign like this?
Bumping with beasties

It's a lot of fun actually. Instead of fetch quests, you have to track down and hunt food for the tribe. Instead of feudal politics, you have tribe members with different strengths and weaknesses all vying to be the ooga booga with the biggest stick.

Ah, high risk primitive hunting strategies. A huge contributing factor to the large amount of broken bones, healed and not seen in Homo Sapiens of a certain period and Neanderthals.
Turns out confronting anything about as big as a cow with a thrusting spear is physically dangerous.
I can only imagine how delightful it would be to attack something like THAT with a pointy stick.
You can just see that wary, "I'mma fuck you up" evil gleam in it's eye, what with it having noticed them.
And it would. I expect you'd want to go for the eyes or head maybe, and avoid the tail.
I also expect those guys were faster than you would initially assume, and/or had more reach than you would like, too.
Getting stomped on or just kind of roughly bumped by it's side would possibly fuck you up too. Fall down, lose your footing, get stepped on/smashed with tail.

The best part is that almost every fucking creature is like that.
It'd definitely lead to some intense rolls
And that's all I've got. Folder for this kind of stuff isn't that great.
Haven't anything to contribute unfortunately but very appreciative of the image dump!
all these comparison pictures remind me of the Dinotopia Books when i was a kid
>no mammoths
Shit OP what you doing.

No matter what system you're using, read GURPS Ice Age.

Fucking Dinotopia was my shit in middle school. Some guy donated a good chunk of the books to us and I tore that shit up.
I am only ashamed in how long it has taken me to realize how much I want to be in a Dinotopia campaign.

Do you happen to have a pdf of that?

Thanks m8
This has always been my favourite setting but there isn't enough good games and video games in it.
Also how do you like your primordial/primitive settings: high or low magic?
