How does /tg/ do dinosaurs in their games?
>>
I got a Druid in my D?D game and the player absolutely wants dinosaurs so he can shift into one (need to see one first)... thinking of the old lost island classic
Also curious about other ideas
>>
I generally think dinosaurs clash with a lot of classic fantasy theme's. If I include them the campaign has a non-tranditional setting.
>>
I typically shoot at them until they stop moving

Fantasy is such a kick in the balls to make dinos work with. Like, best thing I can think of is...

>Rift opens in the world, they spew out of the ground
>Portal opens in the world, they spew out from another dimension

The second idea could be done well to surprise the PC's. Like have orcs in the area be a nuisance as raiders and town harassment. Then people one day notice that something is wiping out smaller villages on the fringes. They also notice that the orcs haven't been seen in a long time and this isn't their style anyways.

>as you carefully make your way through the thicket, you see a strange creature motionless ahead in the clearing.
>As you inch forward, you can start to make it out. Two powerful legs that end in wicked hooked claws. A leathery almost reptilian skin. A long snake like head filled with rows of sharp teeth
>Suddenly, the tall grass to your immediate right rustles as similar serpentine face comes to your attention as it snarles at you
>Clever girl. Roll initiative.

Mod the scenario as you will

Outside of fantasy, it's easy to use them, but yeah.

>fantasy is such a kick in the balls to do dinos with

why?
I am currently running a campaign where they are just as common as deer or bears

you don't need to make them some super special crazy awesome thing that only shows up once in the campaign.

they can be mundane animals to make the fantasy world seem that much more fantastical

I make them regular animals in many of my fantasy settings. When there are already incredibly dangerous things running around in the wilderness like remorhaz, displacer beasts, and land sharks, I don't think it's that big of a stretch to say that there are dinosaurs too.

I love fantasy settings with dinosaurs that aren't really treated any differently than normal animals. I especially like the idea of domesticated dinosaurs. Velociraptor (the real one) was about the size of a large cat, and heavily feathered. Can you imagine having one as a pet? Especially after centuries or millennia of breeding to make them cuter?

I also like using ceratopsians as mounts.

Also, I like scientific accuracy with my dinos, and think that feathers look cooler than unfeathered.

>Fantasy is such a kick in the balls to make dinos work with.
What? No it isn't. It's easier. Here, this is all you need:
>This isn't Earth, dinosaurs never went extinct.

>>43849567
How do they? A lot of early D&D used dinosaurs. In fact, creatures like the Bulette and Owlbears came from using packs of "Dinosaurs" from shitty knock off Chinese manufacturers who'd clearly never seen what dinosaurs looked like.

>other members think nothing of it and commend her, speaking to the t-Rex in calm, friendly voices
>"good to see you jimmijean, what did you do at school today?"

The only way anon.

Raptor knights.

Giant stegasaurus war machines.

But only the King is powerful enough to claim the T-Rex as his steed.

I do like the idea of a t-rex that kind of roams around it's territory that serves as the ever present big thing you simply cannot kill. I know everyone had put sword to heart against every tarrasque and elder dragon they've come across, but I've always though simply hacking at things that could eat you whole to be WoW esque stupidity.

Getting chases into a cavern too narrow to be followed could lead to other underground adventures too.

Its hard to explain, but one of the main characters does this weird tournament with his former squad mates, they use time travel to go to an area free of interference, and just survive till they get bored.

The raptors are pets from one of the participants. Check the latest page for budgie raptors in armor on miniature motorbikes.

Reptile and mammal ratios are inverted in Anonworld, such that @86% of wild animal encounters involve Tiles and, except in polar regions, Mals are rarely seen except @4% domestic pets and dairy stock with the remaining 10% represented by self-sufficient herds of migratory steak-and-ribs type herbivores.

I either ignore them completely or go balls deep.
Current character is an Eberron halfling (Talenta repre-fucking-sent) and I'm having more fun playing her than any of the other characters I've made. I've only made like three, but still.

I dont like to kill dinosaurs in my games. I would rather them be my allies and stuff. For example I dislike that in Turok you kill raptors, when they could be a part of your clan, sort of like wolves where friends of primitive men.
