Of course anon. I'm the cutest one too.
>>
In Borderlands could EXP Module upgrade Phase Pierce to do something like 'the amount of shots you can fire depends on the gun used, with sniper rifles only getting a single shot, while smg's can fire an entire clip off before you return to reality'? Could you get elemental effects on your phased shots, like how Maya ends up hitting all enemies nearby with all elements?
>>
/jc/, I wnt to become a horrifying soul powered abomination. What's the best way of doing so?
>>
>>43820866
Castlevania for Power of Dominance, Hellsing for Dark Binding, Homunculus in Full Metal Alchemist besides the part where alchemy there can run on souls, Shindamachu from Inuyasha. Dark Souls and Demon Souls would likely help.
>>
>>43820866
Various kinds of vampire from Van helsing, Skyrim, and Shadowrun.
Zerg can let you do this as well.
>>
>>43820866
Evangelion will probably help if you take some of the more esoteric perks.
>>
>>43820866
The immediate response is go to Hellsing, and get Dark Binding, but that might not be enough.

If you become an Angel in Evangelion you are made of your own soul, but that might not be enough.

If you go to Minecraft you can get magical machines that run on souls, and Worm has a power that lets you absorb things and can learn magitech, so you can run magitech inside you on soul power. But that might not be enough.

If you go to FMA you can become a homunculus, a being with a core comprised of a philosophers stone which is in turn made from souls. But that might not be enough.

You could get the Black Star from Skyrim and import it to Steven Universe so that your core is now able to absorb a sapient soul, or just the regular Azura's Star if you are fine with regular souls. But that might not be enough.

Unfortunately I'm tired and can't remember the monsters that do things with souls... they're on the tip of my tongue.. brain... fingers... whatever.

Hope that helps.

Bloodborne. Get the three umbilical cords and eat them AFTER bloodborne jump.
>>

>Eating umbilical cords
This isn't china.
>>
>>43821062
Why?
>>
>>43821357
IIRC, It summons the BBEG of Bloodborne. If you beat him, you turn into a baby of his species.

>>43821394
Woops, forgot pic.
>>
>>43821394
It doesn't really summon her, so much as give you eldritch power capable of beating her. Potentially.
If you didn't consume them, she auto-rapes you after beating the first hunter, and then you become the new overseer.
>>
>>43821394
Isn't the BBEG just a random beat 'em up boss? What's so special about them that you'd want to be one?
>>
>>43821529
Because the whole game takes place in a dream created by one or more of the more powerful members of their species. A reality marble that's seemingly indefinite, in other words
>>
>>43821529
If you're referring to Gehrman, he's the Final Boss.
Flora, The tentacle girl in the pic i posted is the True Final Boss, who presides over the Dream.

>>43821562
Is she a Great One? IIRC, her trophy doesn't refer to her as one.
>>
I wish Bloodborne came out on something other than a PS4.
>>
>>43821642
Same, it looks beautiful but my sour xbone grapes prevent me from playing it so I haven't read up on it too much.

>>43821562
>>43821609
So, you gnosh on a few baby straws and you've got the chance to grow up into Azothoth?
>>
>>43821700
>>43821700
iirc the whole point of the thing for them is that they want one of the hunters to end up turning into a baby, so they can adopt and raise you.

I think the doll turns out to be one in the end and adopts you herself?
>>
>>43821700
Great ones in Bloodborne aren't quite on Lovecraft level, I mean people with swords can kill them. A strong shoggoth could handle most of them.
>>43821717
The doll also states she was made by humans, she might have been created for the job of taking care of any humans that succeed in becoming one. There was rather a wide interest by people in becoming a great one after all.
>>
>>43821737
They're not quite lovecraft level but it's a good start up point, considering one of Great Ones is formless but still can affect world.

Really, it's a good base. Eat the cords in Civilization jump so you got plenty of time to age up your Great One body
>>
>>43821845
But who to raise you while you're an ugly tentacle babby?
>>
>>43821868
Import japanese as your race?
>>
>>43821868
Better choose your companions wisely, or else you'll spend the rest of existence listening to child-cephalopod duality jokes
>>
>>43821868
Get a companion to do it.

I get the feeling that Jibril would be great at raising an elder god.
>>
>>43821737
>Implying humans in Bloodborne/Dark Souls aren't extremely badass.

Also, didn't Gehrman base her on Maria?
>>
>>43821868
Go to fallout and grab a Mrs. Handy. Alternatively, you could make your own mother-bot. Apart from that you could find a companion you trust enough.
>>
>>43821898
You mean some kind of kid, squid thing? Don't we have a jump for that?

>>43820521
> could a case not be made that Konata [is], for a given value of cosmic horror, at least a bit on the eldritch side?

Well, let's see...
After I figured out how 4D biology works post-Lovecraft (complete understanding took more than the ten years, but to be honest I was kindof half-assing it), I performed some enlightened self-surgery and modeled myself with my pet shoggoth's DNA, utilizing it to possess more mass than I realistically should.
Also great for adding mental processing power.
Then in Bayonetta I figured out how Angel DNA works, so I can manifest bronze masks n' shit.

None of this effected my outer appearance because I actually know what the fuck I'm doing when I start messing with this stuff (it involves going through a lot of rats), and besides, I'm a high end shapeshifter who makes Envy piss himself in jealousy.
But if you cut me open you would see some shiiiit.

Then later this was all rendered moot when I became a wandering soul body powered by AT fields and determination, courtesy of Evangelion's Pattern Blue.
Although I am a Hybrid, so I don't really know what the fuck my DNA is doing right now.

Probably puking in constant horror.

And then with all the unaltered altforms I've collected and the GG Locket I'm constantly wearing, I can basically shut all that stuff off at will.
So that's fun.

But to answer your question, I'm pretty sure I'm the very DEFINITION of eldritch.

And it's fluffy the whole way down.
>>
All this talk of how high end jumpers turn out inhuman on some level makes me wonder.

For a pure strain human jumper, are there any jumps to avoid which force you into a non-human background.

Apart from Pokemon Dungeon explorers.

We have plenty of companion humanification jumps, so let's turn it on its head.
>>
Does magicka from Elder Scrolls integrate with mana or "magical energy" from other settings or is it an entirely different fuel source?
>>
>>43822163
fanwank it
>>
>>43822043
Changeling, Vampire the Masquerade-Bloodlines, and Vampire the Requiem. Dragon Commander requires you are at least half dragon. Then there is Starcraft zerg, but you can be an Infested Terran, and then get the infestation taken care of.
>>43822163
It's ambient magical energy that you absorb into yourself, it's pretty generic mana.
>>
>>43822163
Been lots of arguments about this, some people think all magic should have the same power source, some think they all run on different juice.

In the end though it doesn't really matter and either are fine.

Think I tend towards the second school of thought but it really is down to whichever appeals more.
>>
>>43822163
Pretty much everyone with a brain has a single mana pool and not 500. You'd have to have a fetish for micromanagement to go for the other.
>>
>>43822043
Off the top of my head, and ignoring jumps that make you roll for race, but you can pay for human, or where not all of the origins change your race:

>Nightmare Before Christmas
>Vampire the Masquerade
>SimAnt
>Evo, I think
>Aquaria, I think
>Kirby
>Imaginary Friend, but only if you get really, really picky about what constitutes "human"
>Madoka, both normal and Noir, depending on if you think soul-gemming makes you inhuman
>>
>>43820866

Don't forget Asura's Wrath. There are consequences, but you can consume souls to produce Mantra.
>>
>>43821909
>>43821898
>>43821868

You can get Plain Doll as an item you can buy in Bloodborne jump.

Keep her with you, she will raise you.

Oh, Good Hunter
>>
>>43822323
It's not her. It's not a companion even. Basically, if you buy the doll and the insight perk, you go insane and talk to the doll and THINK it's a person, but it's outright just that doll. And not the character, or a living being.
>>
>>43822323
>You can get Plain Doll as an item you can buy in Bloodborne jump.

I talked to the Bloodborne jump maker. On IIRC.

They said that Bloodborne jump, when updated, will have it explained what exactly the Doll item gives you. Apparently, it was supposed to become a proper companion or something. I think they are just waiting with finishing off DLC till the update

Okay, this is probably gonna catch me a lot of flak but I want to keep communication open with the thread.

The Worm update isn't going to be done for awhile due to the holidays effects on my job, but what I've done so far has really got me thinking.

Worm was my first jump and while overall I'm proud of the job I did it still is crap compared to my latest jumps. Wording, descriptions, and whatnot all could have been a lot better.

On top of this there are a couple of places like the changer section that have neat ideas implemented horribly for the purposes of Jumpchain and really should be reworked.

So to you guys, I want to let you know I want to go over the jump and basically upgrade it to my current standards while fixing the issues it does have. Especially areas where the letter of the descriptions seems to bork the spirit of what was intended.

Whats everybodies opinions on this? I don't want to flat out remove anything, but the jump could be so much better with the work put in to polish it, and with all the worm talk and attention you guys pay it I don't want to go behind your backs.

I love JC and jumpmaking, and I don't want to leave everybodies opinions out of the loop.
>>
>>43823692

Go for it. The worst that happens is some people just use the old version.

Well, the worst that happens is someone tracks you down and turns your head into a lawn ornament - but that's really unlikely.
>>
>>43823692
I personally am completely fine with it. While I really like the Worm jump, I do agree that there are some bits of clunky phrasing in there. Giving it a good once-over to polish everything up would be great.
>>
>>43823692
I'd rather have the best Worm jump you can make than a Worm jump you consider subpar.
>>
>>43823692
Go for it.
>>
>>43823692
I think that would depend on precisely what changes you're thinking of. There's always one or two idiots with kneejerk reactions against change of any sort but speaking personally I think I wouldn't be able to call it one way or another until I hear some coffers plans. Though I would say Worm jump seems pretty clear cut barring perhaps how the acquirable path to victory differs from the canon one
>>
>>43823813
*concrete plans, ugh
>>
>>43823692
If someone has an old build they can keep it just as easily as not. So that shouldn't be an issue. Plus, most Anons will argue for more content as opposed to less so you've got that going for you.

For me, though, I'm more excited for the Sword and Sorcery scenarios.
>>
>>43823813
Changer is the biggest sore spot. The powers are so vague and open ended they can be interpreted to be insanely unbalanced. Most of the rest is just going through and adding clearer descriptions. Blink is the most well done power in there and it kills me that the others don't have the depth and nuance it has the more you look at it.
>>
Think this has 4 more jumps than the one from the drive.
>>
>>43823871
>Sword and Sorcery scenarios
Glad I'm not the only one.
>>
>>43823910
Oh, of course you aren't. Scenarios are fun, Worm Anon's jumps are fun, it's only natural that we'd be expecting scenarios in one of Worm Anon's jumps to be fun.

needs more tinker powers. bombs, chemistry, vehicles, martial arts, botany, cooking, pie. anything you want to put in there will do, it just needs more variety.
>>
>>43823692
>>43823692
>>43823692
I don't know much about Worm, so I can't really say much on the content. The Jump is pretty clear and precise so there's really nothing I would recommend changing. However can we get the list changes you'll be adding?
>>
>>43823953
He's doubling the number of powers on the table, so you'll get four new Tinker shards to choose from. There's Bakuda (all sorts of weird "bombs"), Chariot (anything to do with transportation and movement), Masamune (mass production and wide scale deployment of assets) and one more that I can't remember.
>>
>>43823884
In that case, I say go for it. I would appreciate a clarification on how the available PtV differs from the canon one if its not too much trouble because as written they seem awfully similar to me apart from the bit about your biases slipping in

no pie?
>>
>>43824057
Speaking as an observer I think making jumps is a bit like applying for a job: it's equally important to stay in contact, explain yourself concisely and have a good history of achievements to point to as your reference
>>
>>43824057
Dude, your jumps are great. I think it's just that Worm has the most potential for dick measuring competitions in it (beating Scion, beating the Endbringers, etc.) so it gets a disproportionate amount of conversation. But things like Sherlock Holmes or Swords and Sorcery are still really well written and fun to jump. I've actually put more thought into what I'd be doing in my Swords and Sorcery run than I have for a lot of other jumps.
>>
>>43824117
That could actually probably fall under Bakuda's shard. Her specialty isn't really bombs, it's devices that burn themselves out in producing their effect. So a pie that when smashed into someone's face calmed them down would probably be a valid use of that specialization.
>>
>>43824195
I'm surprised Tenchi Muyo, Bayonetta, Negima and Medaka box don't get as much talk for the same reason
>>

PIE! exploding pie! all over!
>>
>>43824194
Thats very true anon. Never thought of it like that.

>>43824195
Yeah, I can see it. Honestly it just feels kind of embarrassing at times. I've improved a lot but my first jump gets the most discussion and makes me cringe at times.

You should love the scenarios. I'm still working on them but they have options to nab all kinds of neat items and companions.

If they turn out well I think I'll do the same for a generic cyberpunk and space opera jumps whose outlines have been sitting on my computer ever since I was working on Evo.
>>
>>43824282
Her "bombs" can do all sorts of weird things. Warp space, stop time, turn things to glass...as long as it does it all in one burst it seems to be something she's capable of.

>>43824298
You're right, I'm kind of exaggerating it. There are some types of one-use items she wouldn't be able to make. Like medical injections, for example, that wouldn't fit her specialty. But I still think a bomb made of pie would be totally in-theme for her, as would that pie bomb causing a calming effect on people affected by it.
>>
>>43824117
Why have pie when you can have potatoes? Delicious, salty potatoes.
>>
>>43824341
Medicine bomb. Contact sensitive bomb that's filled with healing salvo.

>Scenarios
>There's a drawback that makes you a pure villain
What kind of scenarios will they be? Dirge-esque "here's the plot, go and become a hero", or will being a bad guy be an option? Or perhaps you'll go for Cats' method of simply setting a goal?
>>
>>43824277
Medaka Box just gets used for Real Eater by people who stay the fuck away from the plot, and Negima gets used for Thousand Master or Twilight Imperium by people who stay the fuck away from the plot.
>>
>>43824422
A little of both. Goals with a plot driving them, with preferably the sort of amoral freedom in how they are accomplished that fits a Sword and Sorcery world.
>>
>>43824489

That is an excellent idea. And it's probably not going to be as bad as turning the Shining Trapezohedron into a tsukumogami.

So, with the new PMD having come out in the west a week ago, would it be in poor taste to take that universe as a location if we rolled Free Choice/paid CP to choose? The setting seems like it's much more developed than other games, with towns existing outside of the main hub and everything.

FUNNY.
YOU.
ASK.

SO!
I went to Gunnm. Battle Angel Alita. I am now functionally immortal as far as I can tell, and my body is pretty much the plaything of my mind.
Let me describe exactly what happened. See, at first I was wowed by just the Karma Chameleon in tandem with my Ultimate Gundam cells. My body was already pretty tough, now the evolutionary capabilities of my UG cells could be brought to their fullest.

However, a certain someone convinced me to take Karmatron Dynamics, and I figured that the Doctor perkline was solid all the way down, so I got to it.
So now, due to taking both KC and KD, I have effectively Regenerator Nanos and a body that shifts to my will, which would be beautiful enough if it weren't for realizing...I had Independent Innovation. Doctor Perkline let me have a big enough knowledge base in order to start tinkering with integrating my UG Cells into my imagos(imaginos?) body...Now I've managed to get my consciousness distributed alongside an ever-shifting and evolving body, almost immaculately constructed and if not indestructible, then extremely sturdy. Too Raw enhanced that sturdiness, making it that as long as I have an ounce of the will to live in me, I'll find a way.

It's a heady feeling, and honestly it's hard not to cackle just writing that out, but I've become a completely different being physically. I'm not gonna reject my humanity, but god is it hard not to get a little giddy at being able to wade into a minefield and come out the other side spotless.

The Elder Scrolls jumps and FFTA have free/discounted perks based off a race roll, and they didn't get any opposistion to it, the key thing to remember is if you're doing it that way you need to make all of the locations balanced.

Journey to the West gives you Sun Wukong's 72 Transformations.

You may need the Enlightenment perk with it as well, but here's a partial list of things he did with it - number 4 being the important one.

1 - He can change all of his hairs into any object, person or animal. After use, he can change them back into hair.
2 - Body Outside of Body Spell (Shen Wai Shen Fa) - amass an army in a few seconds by changing tufts of his hair into warriors.
3 - Transform one object into another object by chanting a spell and spitting blood on the object. In the case of changing an object into people, may give very simple abilities of speech and movement.
4 - Can multiply his head and hands so that he has three heads and six arms.
5 - He can change his single magic rod into thousands of them which can be used for attacking multiple enemies.
>>
>>43828342
I don't, and I am aware, but it sounds like the same could be said to you considering you're trying to claim that you're right and literally eveyrone else is wrong. I just think throwing a hissy fit when it's obvious you're outvoted is petty and irrational, that's all.

>>
>>43828162

Yes they are. You use whatever version you want - you just don't expect others to do the same, and you don't go onto the thread and start talking about how obviously superior it is.

There are several jumps in the folder with multiple versions. Mostly for different powerlevels, but that's effectively the same thing.

Your build also doesn't need to retroactively change just because there was an update.

Your next build is "required" to use the new one, sure.

The fact that whathisface the other MC was, in fact, able to harm her implies she's vulnerable to absolute effects. In fact, a lot of the overpowered fellas have JoJo-style almost-logical weaknesses based around them being too stupid/insane/obsessive/needing to prove something to actually use their powers as ruthlessly as possible, or using them in the worst way at the worst point of time for various reasons.

But hell, the whole thing is supposed to deconstruct shounen animes as a concept anyway so of course like Discworld, powerlevels default to whatever the writer thinks is funniest at any given moment.

>Removing powers
But he isn't removing anything, and says so, if you reread his comment.

In fact, he's doubling the number of powers, and simply rephrasing some of the existing ones so that it's easier to tell exactly what you can and can't do, instead of a bad turn of phrase making people think a particular ability can do something he's later cleared up in thread as not being what was intended. This'll just consolidate the rulings made in thread into the jump itself, and make it clear enough that he shouldn't need to answer as many questions about the other powers as well.

...Now that I think about it, Saitama and Ajimu actually are pretty similar in that sense. Ridiculously overpowered but with conflicts from something they stand no chance against. Also destroy most of their opponents in one page.
>>
>>43828968
He's removing things from the Changer tree. Read his comments again.

And so he's changing every other power to make them weaker and more restricted to add 'nuance' and 'make them clearer' and remove the imagination element from it entirely. That's not a good thing like you claim.

There was also the anon recently asking about Quantum Evolution recently. Having those answers right in the jump would be a good thing, wouldn't it?

Eh. I'd disagree because there's two other characters who fit Saitama's narrative role better. Medaka of course is the MC who always wins by dint of HOT BLOOD and TRYING HARDER and who believes everyone who's a person can be redeemed. Ihiki of course is the other MC, and has ONE POWER, BUT IT'S THE STRONGEST GG NO SAVES as his gimmick. Not to mention their opposite moral stances.

If Ajimu and Saitama have any similarities, it's the fact that their ridiculously high pedestrals have 'em bored out of their minds. Except Ajimu eventually found an opponent she couldn't overcome and has a skillset that's more versatile than punches. Whereas Saitama is more or less at peace with life and is slowly improving his lot one punch at a time.
>>

>So Jumpers-in all your travels, what is the single biggest actual, physical jump you've ever performed and what was the context behind it?

Jumped to the moon in Asura's Wrath as the Shinkoku Trastrium was really ramping up, thousands of years before Augus and Asura had their fight, stealing the idea from them but getting all the credit for showboating.

Pretty fucking stupid actually. Without mantra capacitors it relied on the range of earth-bound mantra transmitters, and I'd decided that it was only just enough to reach past the Moon's orbit - the empire had no real interest in expansion into space. So I could still course correct, but the moon isn't just sitting there and waiting for you to land and missing would run a real risk of ending up like Kars.

There's a difference between having an imaginative power and then having Wish - Minor, I think.
I don't get what people mean about 'wrecking builds' or anything like that, at worst you have to take a drawback or something, or drop a few points in order to get approximately what you want.
A Stand can be imaginitive without being GER, for example, so...I don't know. I've been a little shit about this, true, but only cause it seems like a dumb argument in the first place.

If a power is changed then anything you had based on using that power or comboing it now no longer exists. You have to throw everything out. On top of if you liked the power. This is wrecking a build.

And nobody is claiming they want 'absolute wish' or whatever strawman you imply.

...Maybe I just don't get that attached to specific powers? I mean sure if someone say, nerfed KC or KD I'd be a bit disappointed, but it seems like "aw, now my chocolate with nuts doesn't have nuts in it" from the way you're putting it. I guess if you were running with that analogy it'd be more "now my hershey bar is a hershey kiss" and I'd look the dumbass, but I figure there are so many jumps and combos that subbing one or two in for one that gets changed up for Balance's sake isn't super bad.
>>
>>43829117
I'm not trusting blindly, I'm trusting based on the work he's already done.

And 'Clearer' and 'Nuanced' doesn't have to mean 'it is weaker'. Pretty sure it'll be clarifying things like, in this case; You can make the things you've assimilated, also you can absorb them again so you don't permanently have a gun sticking out of your forearm. That is something he has said you can do in thread and IRC, but isn't mentioned in the power. That isn't restricting your imaginative uses, it's making sure you know what it can actually do.

Imagine if he didn't do this update. You come up with a great idea and post it in thread. He says no, that isn't how it works. You feel like shit, he feels bad for shooting down your great idea, and nobody wins. Now, imagine the jump wasn't phrased such that you could mistake what it lets you do like that. You come up with a great idea the power can actually do. Worm says that's awesome, you feel good for making something cool, Worm feels good for making the tools to let you do something cool, and everybody wins.

Isn't that better? In my opinion, and apparently the opinion of some others here, yes. Yes it is.
>>
>>43829159
And I'm telling you you aren't convincing me that is what is actually happening, as opposed to your opinion.

He's never shit on an entire jump and rewrote all the powers before.

And he's made it pretty obvious by using Blink as his example what he thinks is 'clearer' and 'more nuanced'.

And I don't have to imagine that sitaution, because before now he hasn't tried to force strict 'nuances' but he now is.
>>

I love Chi because I'm a big Wuxia nerd sometimes, but Magic is more supported and more flexible.
It does seem kinda unfair to compare the two though, since Ki is almost always for direct combat use(unless you're in Naruto, in which case you're a warrior wizard essentially) and magic is more abused since it's easy to say "and then a wizard did it"

My only real grief with the old worm jump is the limitation on the single power you can take. After reading the series I've noticed that there are a few characters here and there that have varied or multiple powers.

Even if the powers offered by the jump seem to cross multiple classifications, being able to take multiple powers or customize what you get would be nice, like switching out skitter's power with bugs to apply to a different creature or object.
>>
>>43829303
His bait is "I don't think this is a good idea and here's why" at which point he raises valid possibilities for how it could go, and then spits pointless vitriol at everyone who disagrees with him. Not how it will go, but rather than wait and see or admit it could ever go right, he gets venomous. It's a very good way to bait.
>>
>>43829285
After looking at Blink again I have to ask... And?

It's a well written power. It clearly says what you can do with it, and it's easy to think up creative uses for it. What particular power do you have, and why are you so worried about it being nerfed?

Are you... deliberately using it not in the spirit that it's intended and fully aware of that, so the fact it's going to be clearer and easier to understand means your blatant BS won't work anymore? Is that why you're fighting so hard against this? Because you know you've been doing something that wasn't intended and now you are afraid you won't be able to without being called out on it?

I'm trying to not come across as insulting you, but you're making it very hard man.
>>
>>43829215
I generally prefer chi. Don't get me wrong, magic is a lot of fun, and has a lot of uses, but there's a level of separation between you and your magic in most systems. Not always, but enough that it feels more like "something I can do." Chi, on the other hand, is more personal - not "something I can do," but "something I am.

Also, I feel like Chi is more easily taught - another aspect of Magic's separation is that it generally has some kind of "gift" aspect to it. You're born with it, you're given it by a supernatural entity, but it's not usually something anyone can do. Chi, on the other hand, is usually presented as something anyone can learn, as long as they have the dedication.

These are generalizations, of course. Dresden Files magic is something you are rather than something outside of you, while Avatar chi is a gift you're born with rather than something you can learn. But I think those rules are general enough that my point still stands.

Magic definitely has more support, though.

So when I say "I'm not attached to something", It's obviously a moot point that doesn't matter. When you say "I/hypothetical jumper could possibly be attached to this", it's the hinging factor of your argument. I see.

>>43829303
True. It's pretty much moot, at this point. Sound and fury, signifying nothing and whatnot.

Gonna move on to a tangent: As you can tell, I've recently come into a lot of power during Gunnm, pretty much physical damn-near-invulnerability. I think I'd have to be torn apart atomically or erased from existence Banefire style in order to go down, at least from direct combat.
Anything I'm missing in terms of protection?
I'm hoping to go to FFTA to get immunity to stupid insta-OHKO like petrification and instant death or whatnot via Dat Ribbon...Do you have to go Angel in Evangelion to get an AT field worth a damn or? Cause I wanna try and prevent reality warping from fucking me up hardcore.
>>
>>43829369
Or maybe some people aren't nice and the reason you see valid points is because it's a valid opinion? I don't care if you hate me for freaking out, but your post in particular reeks of "I don't want to accept anyone thinks this way."

>>43829370
>And?
Do you not enjoy being able to think up varied and inventive uses for your powers?

'Clearer' and 'easier to understand' is also a callword for 'simplified' and 'stricter'. You can only do exactly what it says, nothing else. Which is, in part, missing the point of powers in Worm, where more than a few people got very creative with what they do.

>>43829365
Some people have powers that give them multiple powers. They don't have actual multiple shards.
>>
>>43829422
If you don't care either way you're not effected either way, so innately that opinion can be set aside in the argument. "I don't care." supports neither side.
>>
>>43829430
That's getting into pedant territory, and I don't think you're right about it being stricter, rather it'll be easier to see if you can actually do something with a power. To use my own for an example, can I absorb adamantium, make my hair out of it then pluck them out to make strands of flexible adamantium? I don't know, and normally I'd have to ask Worm if the hair would stay flexible, made of tiny bits of adamantium, or if it would become a solid stick of adamantium. Hopefully that sort of thing will be cleared up in the update.

I see why you're worried, but I think Worm is nicer than you give him credit for.
>>
>>43829285
>He's never shit on an entire jump
Oh, it's you. Opinion completely disregarded.
>>
>>43829494
If the point is to make it clearer by telling you EXACTLY what it can do, you innately lose any ability to think outside the box in how to apply your power and be inventive. It's like a simplified coding language. The ones that are easiest to use lose the most functionality.
>>
>>43829505
Yeah, I'm glad I'm not the only one who's able to pick that guy out by his word choice.
>>
>>43829511
A power says I can do 'flowery description that leaves me not sure exactly what I can do so I have to ask lots of questions or just don't use it'.

A power says I can do X.

I can come up with things for both, ok? If it clearly says I can do things the way Blink does, I can come up with things to do with it. It's easy to come up with things to do with Blink, and if other powers end up that clear it'll be easy to come up with ideas for them too.

I think the problem here is that you're treating it in a really oddly specific way, as an attack on imagination, when it's really an attack on confusion.

I'm not saying I care. If anything, I'm just on the side that "WormAnon hasn't done us wrong yet, and the fact that he's actually asking the thread means he does want to continue to do so. " I'm also aware that I did not write Worm, nor did I write the jump, so I have about as much say as you about whether or not this is a good idea or not. I think it's a good idea to make clear perks, because if you don't you get things like Deadman Wonderland, which pretty much are "Wow you're super smart/super strong" without really giving a better idea of what that entails, except applied to a superpower.
Which means you'd pretty much get something like King Crimson in terms of "It just works." Once again, I might be talking out my ass, but I'll readily admit that I am.

Actually, it's not even clear if that's possible. It doesn't say anything about what happens if you try to blink solid objects into each other. Clarification is needed.

Just because you wrote something, doesn't mean all of your thoughts and ideas are the bets. Do you have any idea why professional writers have editors? It's not just to do a spellcheck. It's to tell them when their writing has issues, when their ideas suck, and to offer suggestions for how to change it.

That's not perfectly applicable to this situation, but it does counter this idea you have that a writer and what they want to do is always right and cannot be questioned. In the writing world, this has never, ever been the case.

And I can't say I'm surprised you defaulted to the 'opinions I don't like are bait' thinking you ALWAYS do.

Waifu:
Pandora Yeager. Tall, Dark, Pretty much a woman trying to find meaning in her life after a lifetime of war and suffering, I met her in Gundam UC and she's been at my side ever since. If the girl ever hit 40k she'd be Slaaneshi in no time, as far as I've gotten her written she's pretty much 'empty inside' and trying to find something to give her life interest and meaning, translating to dangerous(yet lucrative) lifestyle and hard partying.
I think I've succeeded so far in giving her lots of shit to do, woman does not agree with getting cyborg'd so I'm pretty much always looking out for her not to get pasted again.

...Edgiest thing I've ever done...
I'unno if it's edgy, but I once faked a robot apocalypse in Gundam AGE out of frustration with the war.

Are lawyers kidnapped or threatened by serial killers in Ace Attorney? It's my first Jump and I plan on pulling Saul Goodman theatrics to acquit people and trap the prosecution behind legal requests and motions. If that happens I'll want to start with something like Infamous to get superpowers first.

You woke up in a crime scene for a murder you didn't commit,
The police show up and you're hoping that the glove won't fit.
There's a killer on the loose and you're pulling out your hair.
Who're you gonna call who's already been there?

Getting scattered. OK, your body is made up of nanomachines, and I'm going to assume you've got sufficient Jump-fu so that those machines are immune to energy attacks, immersion in corrosives, and other methods which are still effective against most nanomachines - but how are you at having each machine thrown a decent distance from the others?

Communication disruptions are another really big one. If something prevents your machines from communicating with each other and working as a unified whole, the results could be pretty damn disruptive. Worst-case scenario, they might stop being able to maintain your self, and who knows if you could get it back.

Also, any sort of mechanism for controlling your biomechanical nanocells. Don't just worry about hackers and technopaths - worry about biokinetics too. You don't want your cells to get turned against each other.

I agree that a lot of the powers are open ended and can be overpowered really easily, but I really like the idea that paying attention to exactly what a power does can let you use it in really creative ways. Wrecking opponents who outclass you with creativity and thinking is a core theme of Worm. If every power is clearly defined and strictly balanced with no room for messing around, I think it would be harder to really get the "feel" of Worm.

>Not companioning Quilby.
>>
>>43830076

That is problematic, true.
I might have a solution though? I talked to the jumpmakers a bit about it, if I DO have a distributed consciousness around my body (and regenerator nanos appear to be able to 'know' when a body's been disrupted, it appears to have the data on what my body is supposed to be like on most parts of the body, if not every machine having the data saying "okay, this is how we gotta have this fucker"
Worst case scenario is that if I'm torn to shreds and distributed across the atmosphere with no communication across the nanos, I might be able to have each one start slowly manipulating in order to form up, or otherwise that they will attempt to 'create' me from what they can, since the programming of what i'm supposed to be is in there. I think if I was completely atomotized then I'd go something similar to unconscious, waiting for my surviving bits to Iron Giant me back in one piece.
A casual solution would be to have a safe 'place' where i keep some biomass that is programmed to 'seek out' my distributed bodymass if it stops getting a signal.
Might not work out, though.

...Also anyone else seeing these neat turkey Captchas?
>>
>>43829779

A few things that might work:

Biggatons
Superpowered Kungfu - killed Alita a couple of times.
Magic in general, curses specifically.
Disintegrating effects - doesn't care about your defence.
Nanoweapons
Gravity weapons
Entropic weapons - complex systems suffer the most
Antimatter
Anti-tech magic
Mental attacks,
Being teleported into deep space or to other planes,
Plasma - nanomachine performance tends to be fucked up by heat, radiation and electrical charges. Same with superconductors.
Supercooling attacks - will alter the material properties of your body, slow you down and make your brittle.
Vibration attacks - if you still have a meat brain in there, or any distinct components
Spells that conjure hostile clones,
Social Fu
High speed armour piercing weapons
Joint destruction and locks - if you don't have fast shapeshifting you can be immobilised by removing your leverage.

A lot depends on your build. But note that the Imaginos body - if you're using it - isn't immune to bullets by default, you're unlikely to be hit, but if ambushed and they take out a leg then your evasion is compromised.

Most fun is any sort of song magic, like Aquaria. I tend to feel songs throughout my whole being, so singing them into reality just sounds fucking amazing.

>Avada Kadava
An absolute death effect that's only been shown on humans or smaller creatures. What else it works on is fanwank, but I imagine it being limited by the amount of energy it takes to shove somethings life force out of it's body. So, it's probably not a kaiju buster, but useful against human level bbeg.
>Mercy

Most recent was sparing the Vermin armies in Redwall. It's about 250 jumps in, so I have the power to stop them, but I just forced them all onto an island and surrounded it in storms that would sink them if they tried to leave. I hope they have a nice little civilization when I return, but if not, I don't blame them.

I'm of two minds on this. On the one hand, I agree creative mass destruction is definitely a Worm thing. On the other hand, someone proposed using the friction power for near-luminal strikes, which is far beyond the capability of any canon parahuman save maybe Beginner Eidolon. There's a line between creativity and mary sue OC shards, and I'm confident creativity won't be inhibited all that much considering the versatility Taylor achieved with a swarm of bugs.

So...

Jumpers, are you afraid that some beings that potentially could have the power to jump realities would eventually follow you due to you being... interesting or even something that causes interference?

Example would be that Ajimu from Medaka Box. Because as far as I know, she has EVERY SINGLE POSSIBLE ABILITY OHMYGOD.

To me, it feels like she's a jumper that had no CP limits.

Anyway, that was one example. please, provide others.

I really don't like how sometimes the only way to survive properly is to just get the fuck away from the plot.

>>
>>43830290
One of the major themes of Jumpchain seems to be that the benefactor is, if not omnipotent, at least as potent as she needs to be. Pausing realities is a big part of that, but also that she's just not limited to one reality whilst everyone else is.

So, I don't worry about people following me, generally.

Jumper I have a relevant question for all of you. It's black friday what do you do when the mob comes into your stores or you going into a store to get something?
>>
>>43830290

My general opinion is that all the jumps are varying simulations run by an over-civilisation. Like the Truman Show in many ways.

Jumpchan got bored or had an idea on how to get more viewers on her Cosmostream, and decided to throw people from one simulation through temporary instances of the others.

My interpretation of the spark is being made into a "Real Person" and joining the over-civilisation.

So I'm not really worried about characters escaping their holodecks - unless the ratings drop.

If the ratings drop, then things may start happening to spice up the format.
>>
>>43830276
You're right that throwing around fusion strikes with friction mastery is way too OP, but in my opinion it's close to what some higher level characters can pull out. A high level Tinker could achieve the same thing in a different way, Path to Victory could achieve it, Temporal Evolution could tank it, etc.

It's a power that doesn't sound that great at first but can be used to deadly effect because of what it does. Controlling bugs sounds really weak, but do you have ANY IDEA how many bugs there are in the world? It's like playing Starcraft with perfect micro and macro constantly. Then you dip them in hot sauce and shove them down superman's throat to kill him, because suffocation isn't a wound.

Taking a power that says "you can control friction to move really fast, including objects you're touching" and thinking "I can throw stuff at people really quickly" followed by looking up the science of how that works, what speed and mass you need to hit fusion, and then running around as a ranged version of the guy who can create stars in his hands isn't far fetched for high level Worm. There's a balance to strike.

Don't start calling stuff "mary sue OC" though. That becomes a big argument when you look at the rest of Jumpchain.

My Jumper at least hopes there's someone from a past reality somewhere in the nigh-infinite omniverse. They encountered one other person who was effectively an in-setting Jumper who gained a limited spark at the end of the series - Ravirn of Webmage. He took two companions with him when he left as well.

In each world they visit they leave something that they would recognize, on the off-chance they cross each other's tracks.

It's the little store that only some people can see, so I don't worry about mobs. It's the rare day that I get more than a handful of people at all. If it were rushed, I'd lay down a mass calming field and guide everyone to get the perfect gift for their loved one using psychic powers and "backroom" item creation.

>>43830439
How do you deal with backwash, though? If you're throwing an object fast enough to initiate fusion on impact, you're throwing it fast enough for air resistance to cause fusion, too. You'd create a wake of relativistic particles and superheated plasma leading back to you, that's not something you want to be around for. So do you have other perks to deal with that, or are you just planning on using your speed to outrun it?
>>
>>43829779

You seem to have a lack of defense against conceptual attacks that ignore defense and enforce concepts on you unless you have a conceptual defense against it. This is more ASA's schtick than mine so try poking him on that area. Some jumps might also have a x can only defeat x situations so just be careful of that and just try to watch out for it.

Alright. For expedency's sake, we're skipping all the ones that involve very specific infrastructure or primordial transcendence.

1. Super Spin (JoJo) a projectile right in her snozz. Bear in mind at the maximum demonstrated potential it tore through a barrier of infinite alternate worlds AND a perfect probability distortion effect that left only good possibilities with the user. And given Ihiko almost killed her several times, it can be inferred she cannot resist absolute effects.

2. The Black Barrel from Type-Moon is specifically designed to impose a concept of death on things that normally lack one. You can acquire a replica. Spend like, a hundred jumps buffing it-with EX Rank Item Creation for best results.

3. Stack Untouchable from Sailor Moon, Get Real! from Johnny Test, Q This from Star Trek TNG/DS9, Reality Check from Cho Aniki, Stacked from Lone Wolf and The Noble Eightfold Path from Lord of Light. If you can survive all that pain you'll have multiple means of reality enforcement in case she can cheat around reality enforcement. Don't just rush in like Touma though; think like Batman.

4. Mordite from Dresden Files, Miss Fortune from Sailor Moon and a good vantage point.

5. Stack The Noble Eightfold Path, whichever appropriate Mantra-related perks in Asura's Wrath catch your eye, Temple of Thought from Binbougami-ga. You'll also need A Song For The Hopeless and Learn To Fly High from the same jump. If you're doing everything right, you should have a means of generating projectiles from a distance which are capable of causing power incontinence.

6. Take Path to Victory from Worm, Folded 1000 Times from Obsidian Trilogy or Softcap from Elona, It's Not A Glitch It's A Feature from Super Smash Bros and You...Blocked? from 8-Bit Theater. This is definitely the riskiest, because it's contingent on you being clever enough to figure out which of her powers are up at any given time.

More interested in collecting substitute family members. Elodie as the little sister I've never had, Alucard and the Boss as mentors, Dante as the cool brother, etc.

If there is a healing magic that is also a necro magic, it is best. If its more orderly than throw dice and hope for the best, it is science.

Dunno, what the heck is that, robots have forcefields?, Engels have forcefields?

Is this edgy.
During Comorragh jump, after I had plotted and pilfered the vaults of the Dark City, gotten the Panacea STC, and gilled myself to the brim with retrieved Eldar artifacts... I made my way to Asdrubel Vect, certain he wasn't a proxy or a robot and I

hit him with the most potent healing and neural rewiring magics and techniques at my disposal so that he became a one-way empath, feeling all the despair and suffering he had wrought in not a good manner

Then I blew up the city. Well, the parts I didn't evacuate first.
>>
>>43830677
Whoah, sorry, wasn't trying to start anything. I think your plan is cool, I wanted to hear more about it, that's all.
>>
>>43830439
I guess we disagree there; the thing Quantum Evolution was stopped by something far lesser, that seems a big assumption to make given even the canon PtV user is a regular woman and of the high level Tinkers I only recall Lab Rat having moon-wobbling ordinance. Possibly Bakuda's bombs too given aforementioned killing of Crawler but even those didn't have anywhere near the scope you describe.

Pretty right about the bugs, yeah. To say nothing of the possibility of bioweapon vectors or causing industrial accidents through saborage.

I am genuinely curious if you've any more examples you've thought of to justify your application's viability. Eidolon was definitely no planet buster. Siberian is functionally unstoppable, yes, but neither was her offensive range that great. The closest I can think of are Phir Se (who needed A LOT of preptime to charge his laser) and the other Thanda guy with Orbital Lock-who again, didn't seem to have the same degree of precise offense you're hypothesising. I can see both the latter being a borderline case though. Then there's the matter of Sleeper, who to be fair isn't an offered shard.

I want to clarify-I don't mean it's mary sue OC in the wider context of Jumpchain as a whole, but in Worm as a setting in itself.

>>
>>43830708
I didn't mean to sound hostile! I don't think you were trying to start something. Ultimately it's up to the Jumpmaker to decide what the powers look like. I'm not in serious argument mode. Thanks for saying it's a cool plan! When I posted it, my thought was to accelerate the projectiles ahead of me while I accelerated myself in the opposite direction at a higher speed, which would be possible with the heightened reflexes the power gives you. If the ground gave out, I could use air friction to fly away.
>>

*taking evangelion at some point, so they might have to meet up actually. The world might explode.

Dammit enter button
>>
>>43830816
Oh, then I'm sorry for misinterpreting your use of exclamation marks. As for the plan, remember that Friction Modulation lets you change direction instantly with no loss of speed. So you could get up to speed, release your projectile, and then instantly reverse. You'd be able to outpace the wake much faster that way than if you were standing still. It would look really cool, too. You'd be moving too fast to see, so it would look like cones of nuclear death were erupting from thin air.
>>
>>43830793
What did Lab Rat have that was big and boomy? He was about transformations. String Theory was the person that supposedly was going to fuck up the moon.
>>
>>43830793
Quantum Evolution in the Jump wasn't Crawler's shard, it's a specifically more powerful version that adapts you before the danger appears. Throwing a baseball at near the speed of light wouldn't get close to destroying the moon, either. The image I posted with my plan was from a XKCD "What if?" that calculates the force as being a nuke, but not a planet busting explosion. It's okay if we disagree, and I've never personally read Worm. I could be overestimating the power of other shards.

That is the spirit of creativity that I was saying I wanted to see kept.

I wasn't talking about using the power to blow up planets, but in thinking about it there's nothing that currently stops the power as being read that way. That's definitely too powerful for a 200 CP purchase or a shard.

That makes sense. If you really get into technicalities, friction mastery is extremely overpowered. There's nothing in the power description that stops you from touching the Earth and accelerating it into the Sun. Nobody in Worm had a shard that could do that unless orbital lock is much more powerful than it seems, and a comet passed by the Earth on the right path.
>>
>>43830962
STRING THEORY right, sorry. Got those two mixed up.

On further reflection, I think Phir Se's portal trick is by far the best counterargument anon has against me at the moment given he shredded an Endbringer into a spooky skellington; it may have been superficial but still oodles better than anyone except Chevalier managed until Scion showed up. And it WAS technically using a directed form of energy at the speed of light, after all.
>>
>>43830290
Depending on how strong her power actually is, Yukari from Touhou could follow you. I think she's really lazy though so it shouldn't be a problem. Even if she wasn't, she doesn't seem to actually care for much except Gensokyo.
>>
>>43830986
I don't think you could just touch the earth and accelerate it into the sun. The way Friction Modulation's worded it sounds like you still need a medium to interact with to actually impart momentum to something. So you couldn't just move planets around, but you could throw off chunks of it at relativistic speeds to make a crude but very powerful rocket able to move it.
>>
>>43830986
Fair enough. Can't say I've kept up with XKCD of late. Life got in the way. And don't worry about estimating the power of the shards; the thing to remember is that the Entities have designed them for a purpose that requires them to incite conflict WITHOUT risking the death of everyone on the planet, so's the other shards have time to mature.

And-yeah, fair enough. S'why I'm in favour of the clarifications Worm proposed.

I have no doubt Orbital Lock could manage that if jailbroken a la Kephri. As for other shards I'm curious about-Scrub's matter erasure power and Labyrinth's not-Reality Marble. At one point their powers were used in conjunction with Flechette's to tear a hole through space-time into a SPECIFIC alternate world. Which raises some interesting questions on what Flechette and Scrub's shards were originally meant to do, huh?
>>
>>43830906
That was exactly my plan! I was taking the Drawback that gives Taylor a good life and replaces Skitter with me, and I thought I would need to use friction mastery like that if I was going to ride an Endbringer or stuff Alexandria's lungs full of expanding foam. I had a weird theme song for when I moved that fast and everything!

How would stacking EX item creation do anything? It works once to make an NP up to A rank and that's it.
>>
>>43831102
You should check it out! I liked them enough that I bought the book. http://what-if.xkcd.com/1/

Jailbreaking in general is really interesting, because when I Jump Worm it'll be the third to last link in my chain. What kind of perks would it take to mess around with a shard like that, if it's possible? Path to Victory post Jump would help a lot.

That's why you use it as a staring point, constantly cross-reference it with other means of divine/magitechnological crafting for means of improving the process, and spend the other jumps finding ways through which to improve your skill further.

If you want to take on something of Ajimu's power with a single weapon you don't settle for what you pay CP for, but you can make it work for you over the years.
>>
>>43831165
Well, using dimensional boundaries as a weapon would be a good way to fight things that extend across dimensions, so that would make sense.
>>
>>43831265
Wouldn't you not be able to jailbreak your shard post-jump, since it gets integrated into you?
>>
>>43831279
Ah, you're stacking items and item creation perks. Sorry, thought you meant you could just make it better with time, which didn't seem right.
>>
>>43831265
I'm pretty sure Worm has said that you can't jailbreak your shard. Though if you're planning on jailbreaking other shards, Bob's your uncle.

>Bonesaw's your auntie

FTFY
>>
Speaking of Bonesaw, if you had the therapy powers to induce her transformation into Riley - or Contessa owed you one - would you extend that therapy to the rest of the Slaughterhouse Nine?

They were allowed to run amok to incite new triggers, but assume that isn't an issue now.

Assume that the therapy will work, with the same effects as Contessa had on Riley.
>>
>>43831383
No, they deserve to be put out of their misery not redeemed.

HEY!

YOU LEAVE MACHOMAN OUT OF THIS!
>>
>>43831383
Much as I hate to say it...I'm not giving Jackie boy the benefit of the doubt. Everyone else is fair game- that is, I'm willing to take the time to find out if their circumstances were like Riley's. Depending on who exactly they are and what they've done already, I might be willing to redeem them even if their situation wasn't as dire as hers.

Franken Fran and the mental healing stuff is so fucking helpful sometimes.
>>
>>43831563
Fran is as likely to turn them into giant bugs as she is to help.
>>
>>43831589
I meant the jump, not the character. But if I had taken her along that's probably something I'd have to be worried about.

Something worth noting about Sting from Worm quotes:

>A female, standing just outside another time distortion, walked around the effect, charging objects with energy. The entity could see as the small pieces of alloyed metal unfolded, taking shape in not just this world, but all realities, at the same space and time, bristling with an effect that would sever their attachment to most physical laws.

>In the moment that hope died, the girl with the injured hand used her power on the iron rods. Infused them with the energy he was afraid of.

It appears that Sting functions via some sort of energy wavelength. Now, Creative Composition enables all sorts of exotic effects to be mimicked through Song Magic-which specifically concerns matter-energy weirdness. Granted, the energy requirements for bringing about Sting are likely stupendous-so it might not be a bad idea to use the HYDRA Blueprints to integrate Futurama-native Dark Matter into the Orgel of Origins in order to increase power supplies. But in tandem with Industrialcraft, we believe the possibility for mass-producing Entity-piercing kinetic weapons exists.

Well. Semi-kinetic, since it seems to require a projectile to unfurl-unless perhaps if you had Wave-Particle Dualities to enable conversion of an unfurled kinetic projectile into an energy attack.

A Sting ray, if you will.

Magic, but not when it's from a source that's not me. Any power i have i want to- no, need to- be completely independent. I can't be forced to stay nice with any other gods because without them i'd be less powerful. That's why I take Psychic power any time that's an option- It's 100% me. Then again I haven't encountered Ki/Chi/Qi/WooWee yet.
>>43829821
>Waifu
Shau', the Dark Eldar from LoT. Come at me.
>Which magic is best magic
NotDyingMagic. With practice you can get it down to a science.
>What happens when AK hits <bad guy>
Depends on where it hits them. In the wing? Stun/paralyze. Leg? Effectively a fracture. A robot? Like a pebble.
>Most recent act of mercy
Some asshat on death row.He was genuinely sorry. So i broke both his legs, gave him a new identity, some cash, and freed him.
>>
>>43831745
>Come at me.
I would, but getting insulted is probably your fetish.
>>
My only request for the Worm update is that Oh Shit! gets flavor text that draws a comparison between everyone getting your powers and the entities giving people shards.

Maybe you should also get data about how your powers were used if you manage to survive.
>>
>>43831806
Why would a drawback give you an automatic reward?
>>
>>43831818
It wouldn't be the first, but most drawbacks like that seem to favor giving you girlfriends.
>>
>>43831383
Yes. Some because I feel they deserve it, others for practicality. The Nine have powers that are too valuable to give up, especially Mannequin's.
>>
>>43831383
Honestly unless you do some major direct gray matter manipulation Jack is out of the picture. Crawler's also more fucked, since he'll just regenerate if you try to change anything in his head and using magic miiiiight cause him to build up an immunity. Everyone else is likely fair game for therapy, and you'll certainly get major brownie points if you somehow manage to therapy some sense into Manton and get him to use his Stand for something more constructive.
>>
>>43831383
I want to say "yes" because I want to believe in inherent goodness, but Jack doesn't seem like he really deserves redemption. For everyone else, it's kind of case by case.

Manton and Mannequin were both Ziz'd, so forgiving them might be possible. There's a similar issue with Burnscar, she got screwed over by a power that makes her crazy when she uses it.

Any anon have an idea on the difference between MAIDn and DRAgN in Generic Virtual world?
>>
>>43832044
MAIDn is sweet and innocent and wants to learn and help you out.

DRAgN is a mean asshole who may go all Skynet on you, but he's smarter.
>>
>>43832044
MAIDn is basically a naivete and grows stronger the more you throw at them. More like a spellcaster.

DRAgN is a jerk, capricious, and loves fighting. He gains strength through absorbing hardware and possessing systems.
>>
>>43832044
Maiden is cute and uses VR bullshit to get to your powerlevel and actually really likes you.

Dragon is basically Maximum-Over Tsuntsun Vegeta.
>>
>>43832044

This >>43832076 - it's just their personality, and probably their initial program loadout.

MAIDn would start with mostly user-assistant tools.
DRAgN would have hacking and combat tools.

I dunno I like most kinds of magic. But my favorite to combine was Nanoha and Negima. Failing that it was D&D magic all the way.

Is any one making a Man from UNCLE jump? I just finished watching the movie and it was fun.
>>
>>43831695
You'd probably need to be able to see it's effects first for you to be able to copy that, and to do that you'd need be some kind of being that exists outside of reality and can look at multiple universes or something... Oh wait.
>>
>>43832228
Is that the one with the show phone? I'd like a shoe phone.
>>
>>43832276
It's the one where Superman and the Lone Ranger fight Nazis.
>>
>>43832228
I think a generic Cold War spy jump would be more fun.
>>
>>43832432
Never do a generic jump when an actual source material is available.
>>
>>43832448
This.
>>
>>43832276
You're thinking of Get Smart.
>>
Right now I'm working on getting through Ace Attorney without being killed or almost killed, because it's my first Jump and I can't carry around a flamethrower yet. Would taking a detective as my sidekick and using their connections funded with the money from my law career keep me safe from all of that? I have Great Revival, and I can count on my companions to pull through when I need them. I'm not going to target the mob, but in defending one person I could incriminate another.
>>
>>43832448
>>43832456
So basically, 'never do generic'?
>>
>>43832448
>>43832456
>Spies Like Us
>Get Smart
>Early James Bond
There's a ton of Cold War espionage fiction out there, not to mention actual history. I just think a Generic Jump for that setting would be way more interesting and have better options for locations, perks, time periods, etc.
>>
>>43832591
There's already a James Bond jump.
>>
>>43832544
Detectives in Ace Attorney seem to have the power of convenient timing, so you'll probably be fine when a mobster appears and threatens you with a gun.
>>
>>43832591
Sure there is. And you'll end up with an unfun mess of a jump because of the wildly differing themes of some of the stuff set in it, not even mentioning actual history. You'd either miss out on the gritty stuff, the funny stuff or end up with a shit version of both.
>>
>>43832550
I prefer to think of it as 'Only do generic jumps if there's so much material that's a staple of the genre/theme that using it all won't impair a separate jump for something in that genre' OR 'Only do generic jumps if all sources in a particular genre/theme are unable to justify their own separate jump'.
>>
>>43821868
This is late, but Nichijou lets you take a really powerful robot caretaker.
>>
>>43832610
I was happy to find that out after picking Detective. I have the book that can find a legal precedent or law for any situation, so I can open it repeatedly and find a case where a lawyer was given police protection to bring up.

This seems slightly problematic, given that each and every single one of them depend purely upon the intervention of another being...
>>
>>43833089
I'd assume they're fine /getting/ powers thusly, but if they rely on other to /keep/ they aren't ok with it.
