To be fair it sounds like viral since it's advertising a /g/ server on a thread on /tg/ asking for a /tg/ channel, and also advertisies purchase advice and "liniux help".

installgentoo might be an irc server but the rest sounds pretty silly marketing.

its all run for free by a /g/entooman it can't be marketing, there aren't even ads on the services. the wiki has purchase advice and linux help because it is geared towards to /g/. that said they do have a ad&d channel on the irc server that seems to be ran by a /tg/ goer.

which is run by an actual /tg/ person who also has a selective archive for /tg/.

Eh, depends where you look. The main channel on sup/tg/ is awful, but if you lurk and get to know people you can generally find a few decent folks. Looking for game based hub channels can also be a good way of finding places to chat about stuff.

The problem is that sup/tg/ spills over the other channels and often ruins channels.
Kinda like /a/b/v/ and 4chan.
