Why do Americans consider this a bad thing? Is it because they can't lift one foot without the weight of their bodies crushing the other one?

>>43738443
Nah, m8 - "good old fisticuffs" has been a meme in America since long before obesity.

On the other hand, the distaste for kicking could arise from several factors:

>it's considered "flamboyant" compared to punching
>growing up, we mostly see kicking as associated either with soccer (that's derived from "Asoccer" which is derived from "Association Football," and Brits invented the term "soccer" only to drop it when it got popular here), cheerleading, or with getting kicked in the groin

Who cares?

Europeanesque culture could never arise independently without an environment resembling Europe

Countless bays/fjords and other natural harbors with a mediterranean coast to the south, numerous peninsulas, large islands, etc.

He is right in the sense that the Mediterranean bassin was in an extremely convenient location (near the fertile crescent, the crossroads of three continents, allows easy passage to faraway lands in a much shorter span than going on foot would allow, at the end/beginning of the silk road) which allowed for a rapid exchange of resources and ideas. It's no wonder that most great Ancient civilization spawned in the Mediterranean or the surrounding area (like Persia). However, you could easily mimic such a thing without needing to copypaste European geography, just make civilizations that aren't isolated form eachother.

It's called Al-Andalus, and is considered part of Africa. That's actually a pretty bitchin map
>>
>>43744112
Assuming you're talking about Spain, I'm pretty damned sure that Spain is part of Europe, no matter how much the rest of Europe wishes this was not true.
>>
>>43744330
Obviously, but on that map it's considered African.

More specifically it's a Victorian 'Queensbury Rules' thing that was popular among the upper classes and their public-school educated children, but that street thugs in the slums of London and Manchester gave no fucks about.

Yes, hitchhiker's guide to the Galaxy. Earth was delevoped by aliens as a massive organic computer. At some point they meet the maker or Earth, Slartibartfast who won an award for "those crinkly bits", referring to the fjords
