this guy is actually one of my preferred authors and would anyone be interested in a town called Suck-hole As a Gauntlet jump Where reduced to body mod you have to solve a murder in the anti-Southern Gothic post-apocalyptic Township And fight off the daughters of the Confederacy?

Jumpers! Do you ever use your phenomenal cosmic constitution for comedic effect? If so, how?
>>
>>43722252
You're just trolling at this point. There's no way someone is this impossibly dumb.
>>
>>43722269
Autistic not stupid there is a difference...
>>
>>43722299
Indeed there is. Unfortunately you're both.
>>
>>43722299
Trying to start multiplayer shit and being unable to tell the difference between someone and their jumper qualifies as both easily, with an extra helping of being a cunt.

Also I'm going to object to the thing you suggested on the sole basis you suggested it.

>>43722255
Running marathons backwards.

That's always a good laugh.
>>
What's the best politics perk out there? I want to be prepared for West Wing jump.

>>43722252
For future reference, assume any and all of your suggestions will be shot down and that we all want you to leave these threads forever.
>>
>>43722390
>What's the best politics perk out there? I want to be prepared for West Wing jump.
The Inquisition tree from Dragon Age Inquisition is what I used to prep myself for WW. It's all about information, advisors, and political leverage.
>>
>>43722470
Nice. 'tis currently a tossup between a capstone from The Last Airbender and King Candidate from Magi
>>
>>43722252
>fight off the daughters of the Confederacy?
And why would I want to do that?
>>
Remember: ignoring bancho is the only sane option. He adds nothing and drags everything down to his level.
>>
>>43722526
Agreed. Just stop responding to him. We don't need to ruin another thread by indulging the attention whore, and we're giving him exactly what he wants.

>>43722255
I like to break up dramatic situations where someone tries to hold me at gunpoint by daring them to shoot me. I then just ignore them and keep doing what I'm doing until they do - at which point I start whining about how they actually did it, and how much it stings, and how could they actually shoot me?

It's good for a laugh once a jump.

>>43722340
There's a good mid-tier from Dresden's White Court that works pretty well too.
>>
>>43722573
I've always wanted to do the bit from the Highlander. You know, the part where Conner is drunk and keep dying in the duel only to regen and die again? Then after a bunch of deaths, just apologize and laugh it off.

TIME SKIP!

Jump 18ish: Commorragh

High Commorragh
Drop-In
Dark Eldar Physiology
Power from Pain
Resistance
Just Another Day in the Life 100
Incubi Companion (import) 300
Mask of Shadows 600
Haemonculi 1200
The Thirst
Big Game Hunter 1000

Skipped a few ahead as the jumps I'd gone to were not all that interesting in the pursuit of bad karma. Adventure Time, Nightmare Before Christmas and Viking Saga gave me a shitload of ice magic, fear causing, necromancy, teleportation, cartoon superscience and gave me Odin's charms and the ability to turn into a swarm of spiders.

Dropping in is a bit of a risk but given the powers from this jump alone it probably isn't going to be too difficult to find a lab and the slaves required to produce monstrosities. Guess the Incubi will help when it comes to both not being killed and gaining knowledge of the area.

The Mandrake option is pretty weird as a combination with Haemonculi and may raise a few eyebrows but it's as much going to deter as encourage attack. Guessing not that many questions will be asked given Mandrakes are not in the business of asking questions and a Haemonculus once turned themselves into light so oddness is expected.

From there it's just doing some work for the kabals, expanding the fleshcraft stuff I've been working on since Archer/Van Helsing and adding some crazy Deldar drugs to my Drugs domain form Captain Planet. Maybe get in with one of the covens if I get an invite, possibly the Dark Creed given their bent towards Mandrakes. Either way at some point I'm going to build a massive Pain Engine with copious use of Lightning is My Art from Van Helsing for that Van der Graaf look.
>>
>>43722255
In some jumps that I absolutely do not care about and just find it incredibly boring, I use my flight powers to pretend I'm driving an invisible car or jet.

Got a little crazy once I started getting my companions flight power.

Eh, there's weirder shit than a Haemonculi Mandrake. Grotesques are considered meh tier, and Haemonculi are crazy bunch of Dark Eldar. Which is saying something.
>>
>>43722672
You know, I just realised there's many flight powers, some swimming-specialised powers in Aquaria but not so many powers to tunnel through the earth like a badass sandwormoledrill

Not condonning or condemning, mind. Just an observation.

>>
>>43722255
Yes. Whenever I can get away with it really. Mostly petty stuff.

Like going magical super saiyan to open jar lids and stuff. Just for the comedic effect. So far my best moment I think is telling an entire royal family I'm tired of their petty antics, declared myself a motherfucking sorcerer and opened a portal to somewhere more fun---in a world without magic mind you. At that point I constantly dropped post cards from various locales, would randomly teleport back to raid pantries and pick up my stuff, ect. Never spending enough time to explain myself.
>>
>>43722255
Only in Zim. Why? I took that drawback that says you're uninhibited in using your powers even for simplest reasons. Because everyone is well idiotic (which it's funny when you're watching it, but living with it is another story) in the series, there was a lot of destruction.

Jump 19: Marvel

2000
Latveria
Student 100
26 years old
Brains
Elasticity 200
Precognition 500
Healing Factor + Speed 1350
Unstable Molecule 1400
Partner 1500
Shapeshifting 250
Lots of Money 300
Changed 1300
Mutant 1000

Really needed some regen so went to Marvel and spent most of the CP on that. Added Precognition, really wanted to combine another speed with it but with a Military origin it'd push me up to 1600 and as Marvel is a jump with a two drawback cap rather than a +600 one I'd have had to take the one that gives you really bad luck (which is pretty suicidal if you don't have Spidey's plot armour).

Latveria is actually a good start as it makes it easy to go and learn off Doom using that Princess Bride perk. Chose Student rather than Military as although they're about as good as one another and I'd get the same discounts I'd rather be working in a research role than a combat one.

Probably a good perk to tail off on the pain eating, seems like that'll get me in trouble.

Changed and Mutant are not that big a deal really, mutants get caught up in a lot but as Latveria is ignored a lot of the time when shit is kicking off I'll be alright. Whether I keep the powers here when House of M happens I'm not sure but it barely matters as I'd survive anyway. For Changed I figure I look sort of like the shadow Robert Smith in the Boys Don't Cry music video.

Eventually I'd leave Doom (and try to do so amicably) and set up my own weird feudal country somewhere (just nowhere near Genosha).

Reminds me - why do we have a dozen or so space settings but only one underwater one? Aquaria's sure as hell not the end-all-be-all when it comes to living under the sea.
>>
>>43723586
Good question. I suppose there is Bioshock and Soma but-otherwise I guess underwater settings tend to only crop up in specific niches of sci-fi. Fantasy underwater locations tend to be pitstops or final destinations more than settings unto themselves.

>>43723864

In theory, you could probably mess with the psycommu to pick up those particular signals and encode them in the same manner.

In practice, it's Newtype Space Magic, so you're probably going to have to ask the author.

The Thorn was meant to be canon- I just took a stab at it from the abilities it showed from it's first appearance. The manhwa has shown more of it's abilities. I should probably update the irregular background and that item, yeah. I'll probably have to place some kind of limits- maybe you have to go through the rice pot too? And it probably relies on your ability to control/use shinsoo as well. I'll need to think about how to balance it.
>>
>>43724239
Gotcha, thanks.

I was a little baffled when I heard it was a living being unto itself rather than just a weapon. I was wondering if you could grow more with the power of the Geneforge

Say, have you thought of any more IPs you might want to do jumps for?

Jump 20: Mob

Colombian
24 years old
Family 100
Made Man
Syndicated 500
Key to the City 700
The Godfather 1300
Goon
Shook Sinatra's Hand 1200
Black Sheep 1000

Rolled the Cubans one where you get to choose from South America so went with Colombia due to the cocaine ties and the fact I can produce an obscene amount of cocaine due to Captain Planet.

Drawbacks make me more honourable in a mob way and not a native Colombian. This seemed a little easier than some of the other drawbacks as I have a lot of perks that give me a right to rule and running the criminal underworld in a given area is not a difficult thing for a jumper really. Part of it is going to be in designer drugs, corrupting the nearby governments and living in a gratuitously large house.

Perks that grant friends high up, preternatural accountancy/money sense and a criminal organization each jump is pretty great.

>>
>>43724860
Hey now, plenty of CYOAs have origins, drawbacks, items. I wouldn't even say that's the closest CYOA to a jump; that'd be Quiet CYOA because of the whole "do things for cosmic being's entertainment"

Except the Quiet CYOA benefactor seems like more of a cunt than Jump-Chan.

Suppose I were to use the Ayakashi Boon power from Imawabi no Dakini to trade metaphysical ownership of Touma's Imagine Breaker into a weapon I own, what would he be willing to pay for it? How's an ordinary life with a girlfriend who isn't a violent lunatic or a lazy freeloader sound?
>>
>>43725102
*what would he willing to trade for it

Guh. Errors.
>>
>>43725102
You explicitly don't get what the person making the transaction pays. And I doubt he'd be willing to hand it off to someone else like that.
>>

>>43724731
>>43724766
Why don't we have a Little Mermaid jump? Don't say "because you haven't made it." I only watched the movie; I have no idea how to go about making the series into a Jump.
>>
>>43725188
Let me rephrase and clarify:

1. My understanding is that the Imagine Breaker has taken many forms throughout the ages, and used to be in a weapon instead of Touma's hand

2. Failing that, I will have a companion around with a weapon and entreat Touma to trade it into that. Then borrow the weapon from the companion whenever I need the IB.

3. I intend to approach Touma literally first thing in the jump
>>
>>43725200
Because you haven't made it and because nobody else has made it either. Someone has to make a jump in order for a jump to exist.
>>
>>43725200
Why don't we have a Peter Pan jump? Or an Aladdin jump? Or a Hercules jump?
All these settings have not just movies but full on animated series filled with lore and characters.
The answer is because nobody has felt inspired to make one.
>>
>>43725279
Oh man, Aladdin the Animated Series was awesome.
>>
>>43725225
Volume one Touma we don't have much on but would probably be even less likely to trade it off than the generic shonen clown who replaces him.
>>

What are some good underwater settings, is the question.

Jump 21: Avatar: Legend of Korra

20 years old
Civilian 50
Earth Kingdom
Omashu
Hard Worker
Bender 150
Utilitarian Bender 250
Seismic Bender 350
Metalbending 650
Lavabending 1150
Bending Genius 1750
Marbles
Bending Scrolls 1800
Equalists Forever 1600
Amputee+ 1000

Pretty much the same as always but with the equalist drawback rather than the one where you can't kill anyone. Pretty much dead set on domination of at least a city state at this point most jumps so the no death doesn't suit me. Also I can pretty easily take out the Equalists at this point by just popping up and cutting them in half, good old Mandrake powers. No arms are resolved by robot arms as usual.

Mostly take this early as lava is hot as fuck and opening up a chasm in the floor full of lava is a good way of taking out nearly anything that can't fly or can fly and is sufficiently surprised.

Whether to get a criminal empire or not becomes a bit of a weird point really. I mean if you can pretty much personally kill anyone you like in a given setting with no repercussions and can make an obscene amount of money legitimately is there any point in going mob boss? Guess I can always use the one from Mob as a catspaw to speed it all along.
>>
>>43725449
I liked how they had a lot of mythological stuff from the various cultures that would be Arabia today (Islamic world). Even some Greek stuff thrown in as well.

It also made Jasmine into something other than helpless princess type. As she would go on these crazy adventures with Aladdin, Genie, Abu, Carpet, and Iago. Genie was also good focus on how he couldn't do nearly as much as he could before so they had to rely on him less than if he was at full power.
>>
>>43725449
Worse than the first movie, better than the other two. Though to be fair to all of them, they all managed to be decent. The team they had working on Alladin stuff was pretty competent.

To be fair, the first movie was a full on Disney film, with all the budget and care that entailed. The second and third movies were direct to video, and the animated series was a television series running in syndication, which would have had a tighter budget and harder deadlines.
But, yeah, I don't think anyone would argue those points of yours.

>>43725538
Jasmine was great. When pushed, she could keep up right alongside Aladdin.
I also vaguely recall being surprised they kept their relationship going. Which makes sense, and it would have been stupid to downgrade it, but I seem to remember they didn't do that kind of thing very often back then. But Al and Jasmine just straight up loved each other, and they didn't mind saying so, either. It was really nice, actually.
Even if they sometimes bickered and fought for the sake of a plotline.

Hmm. Dunno what you've watched but-fancy taking a stab at Fist of the North Star, Mahouka (before you ask: I like the setting and how magic works in-universe, that's all. Think of it as the Twilight of shounen; fun things to do there even if you don't like the people) or Attack on Titan?

And while I'm going to take some flack for this-I think it's clear at this point Muyo isn't coming back to do jumps at all; I haven't seen him in thread of IRC for months on end and nary a hint of progress so. If you're feeling up to making a Rebuild of Evangelion jump, I'd be down with that.

I don't know about best but there are a few perks and jumps that have useful stuff in them.

The body reading perks from Investigation, Great Detective, and Sherlock Holmes jumps. If you had them all you could probably fake telepathy.

The Planner perk from Sitcom jump let's you make plans that rely on people behaving in a certain way, and guarantees that they will.

Nobody's Tool and Sea Turtles, Mate from Pirates of the Caribbean make you an amazing planner and super-liar, respectively.
>>
>>43726946
Well I only take one serious one (i.e. one that I import and actually consider a real asset) so as to make the most use of imports.

Generally for this companion it has to be someone who I don't want to sleep with as that'll complicate things and (where possible) a companion option that has some reference to loyalty in the description. Got to know that someone's going to be on your team if you're going to be spending CP on them.

Stasis Pods I always take and barely use. Probably should just stop taking them really.

The most important criteria - are they happy in their world?

People like Jibril or Morrigan, who thirst for adventure in all its forms. Like Korra or Sion Eltnam Atlasia, who can never truly settle down. Like Index, Arcueid Brunestud or Psycho Mantis, who never deserved their burden in life. Like Harry Potter or Nui Harime, who simply never knew how wonderful life can be.

These kinds of people.

Then there's stuff like power, attractiveness (easily upped after I adopt them into the family, though) and drive to the general growth. In no particular order.

And it pays off. In big ways, too, but these are not the ones that matter. It is all the small things that make my heart sing.

The way Ranma just decided, one day, to adopt a stray cat.

The time Cassandra (SCP-2412) smiled at being unable to predict anything once we got to a world sufficiently full of wonders.

The day Psycho Mantis took off his mask, forever.

The moment when Hisako (Killer Instinct) asked me for a hairbrush.

The instant I realized Harry had finally stopped rubbing the place where his scar had once been.

The way how, every time we end up on a planet other than Earth, Eirin never goes to sleep for even a second. She always stays up all night, just sitting near the window, and marveling at the moonless sky.

Then she goes back into the room, and spends the last hour of the night holding sleeping Kaguya's hand. For all that the girl sleeps like a log, entangled body and hair witn Mokou, she never fails to grab at Eirin's hand in return.
>>
>>43727798
Don't they return to their own universes if you unsychronize pods?

>>
>>43727917

>>
>>43727917

Oh Jumper, good jumper. How do you dtermine who do you stop taking with you on adventures if you feel need for another person to join you, but the only way is the pod
>>
>>43727921
It says so, but I stole this plan from the guy who made the supplement, so it's more of a "???fuck it" thing at this point. It's a nice thing to do, I gain no benefit from it, and I can't honestly think of a reason my benefactor would stop it, as I've characterized them as not really caring about things so long as it doesn't get in the way of the Game, or her entertainment.
>>
>>43727921
Really? Could've sworn it was a go home/stay kind of deal.
>>
>>43727108
>Fist of the North Star
I'd need to read or watch that- which I should probably do any way. That could be fun.
>Mahouka/ Evangelion
Ignoring the shitstorm it would generate, I'd still have to actually manage to watch or read them to the end, and holy shit I don't want to to do that. I think I might end up jabbing out my eyes and eardrums if I try. Cool settings, but the characters ruined them for me. Like fucking DxD goddamn I wanted to like that series so much.
>Attack on Titan
I'm not sure there is enough for a jump, unless maybe I'd make a gauntlet? I'm not a big fan of gauntlets though. Maybe just make only two or three backgrounds? Dunno.

>Companion standards
If they become a facet of everyday life amongst myself and companions and I have the capacity to have them along the adventure at all times and not in 'jc-stasis space.' This essentially is, my pokemon, a gria from FFTA, a Shushu sword, and a webgoblin.

Only real exceptions are drawback responsibility people, like the baby in Yoshi's Island or the spinnerrette from Webmage. The child was raised by shy guys and then we found a place for them in a carpenter's apprenticeship on Isle Delfino. A lucky break for it since our next rolled jump was Age of Ice.

I... Thank you.

>>43728048
Same criteria. Some people, i just have to pod even as there is no companion option.

>>43728064
Let's see. Most of these were made companions through the in-jump options, except for:

Jibril, Korra, Sion, Index, Harry and Nui - podded.

Ranma - See below.

I have six pods. Once they got full, I went to Highschool DxD and made them companions, giving me a single time clear-out.

And Ranma... Oh geez.

Here's the story.

Ranma 1/2 was a fairly early jump for me. And kind of drawback heavy, as all my jumps usually are. So, at some point the dear brother of mine and I got very drunk, tired of the whole wives-and-Genma crap. VERY drunk.

When we woke up with a splitting headache next (maybe?) morning, Tendo dojo smelled of satisfaction and burnt flesh, and I was engaged to seven people, including Ranma. I'm still sure one of Cologne's schemes was involved.

The real kicker was realizing that all seven were now my companions. The laugh She had at my expense that day, you have no idea.

Jump 22: DC

Smallville
23 years old
Alien 100
Unrealistic Proportions
Environmental Adaptation
Superhuman Durability 250
Self-Sustenance 400
Pheromones 800
Superhuman Strength 1100
Superhuman Speed 1400
Eldritch Blast 1600
Nemesis 1500
Like A Moth To The Flame 1300
Weakness 1000

This is something of a departure from normal builds. For one thing I didn't take Flight or Sidekick. Less concerned with getting a lot of imports as a bad guy as it's less a partnership and more a man and his attack dog.

Also took Pheromones which is a standard bad guy option and is also a perk I want but don't usually have the stomach for.

Eldritch Blast is one just due to the points left over. Also it's neat and it's good for your Kryptonian types.

Nemesis I guess would be someone who takes issue with the whole druglord monster pretending to be a legitimate businessman thing. Will probably go set up in Europe so that my concerns don't overlap as much with Luthor or Wayne's as that'd just be a hassle.

Weakness I'll go with Kryptonite, not a Kryptonian (obviously) but we'll say I'm some weird creature made on Krypton with bits of corrupted/damaged Kryptonian DNA. No idea how I got magic really, maybe I touched a magic pebble while on holiday or something and now I can blast shit.

In the beginning, it was a matter of practicality. This person could be useful to have around, so I made an invitation.

As I gained more experience, I became a lot more discerning, and tried to stop judging people based on talents and waifu-potential alone. I spent time observing candidates, discussing things with my other companions, and carefully explaining the ramifications of jumping to the potential candidate.

And I still somehow ended up with a small harem even before going to LoT.

I've never taken stasis pods.

>voyage becomes nothing but hunting giant squids for 10 years
Now I want a Moby Dick jump. If there's not enough material, maybe it could just be part of a Literary Classics jump?
>>
>>43726946
I don't want to take companions because I don't feel right dragging them along with me. Like, this whole jumping thing is my story, everything ultimately rides on my choices and success or failure is wholly dependent on whether I live or die. I don't feel right taking them along with me because I'm afraid that dynamic would make them feel more like props or tools in that story than people, you know?

Or maybe I'm just looking at this the wrong way and people would appreciate being able to see incredible things even if that's the case.

Also, a minor issue I have is I'd feel really bad if I ever ended up with more than 8 companions. That whole stasis thing just makes me really uncomfortable.
>>
>>43729356
That's really only an issue if you just buy companions with CP or something. I explain everything to them and if they're okay with it, then it's really not an issue. All you have to do is give them the choice.

Granted there's quite a lot of quid pro quo going on with regards to the non-pod companions-oftentimes we recruit some misunderstood genius who just needed some extra resources to prove their theories, certain beings made outcast by their very nature or those who just want a chance to walk away from their past and start afresh.

Ah, least gods? Well, several options spring to mind:

-Cyberdidact from 40K enables you to awaken, communicate with and influence machine spirits. The trouble, of course, stems from items you have that may not naturally hold machine spirits
-Which is where Materia Extraction and Materia Adaptation from FF14 come into play. By infusing equipment with memories it's apparently possible for them to slowly become sapient-and uh. Turn into crystals.
-Do consider Maker and Maker's Prodigy from Darksiders. Sentient items are well within a Maker's capabilities
-If you know what you're doing, it...may be possible to actualise the concepts of items using Discworld Witch or Wizard magic provided they've a fairly long history in-universe. Obligatory caveat about Discworld magic, though.

Think of them props or tools, sure. However that doesn't mean there's no room for them. There's always a need for supporting characters, friends, family, lovers, loyal servants whatever the case. You might be Romeo, but Romeo needs his Mercutio, his Juilet, his Prince Escalus. Supporting characters that shape the protagonist. Their stories might not be the center focus, but through you they share the limelight even if it's not shining directly on them.

Jump 23: Supernatural

Purgatory
Monster 300
Siren
Spooky Eyes
Jefferson Starship - Djinn 600
Deadly Sinners - Lust 1200
Hellhound 1500
Room For Two? 1400
Busty Asian Beauties 1300
Enemy of Hell 1000

Really thought I'd go with demon for this run but after Pheromones from DC I just wanted even more mindfuckery. Siren and Djinn are both really great for that. Ideally I'd have gone Demon and then taken Jefferson Starship to have a Monster ability (Siren) rolled in as I prefer the discounts. Doesn't actually say that's not allowed but it wouldn't make sense, could do with asking stupid_dog.

Guess hell aren't fans as I stole one of their dogs. Hellhound is a pretty good choice though.

Also took Deadly Sinners as none of the other capstones really appeal, no point in The Cure if you're not intending to do right by people.

Cute boy? Then yes.
Are they a daughteru? Then yes.
Sonfu or whatever are fine too.
Are they so cool I'll take them despite being none of the above? Then yes, duh.
Finally, are they free? Then always yes.

I've gone to pains to make sure I have methods of hanging out with all my companions at once, so going on adventures with them is a matter of "Stop by the house/ship, pick some out, and be back in time for dinner" rather than this weird "I can only have eight per jump!" thought process I see.

I'm afraid to keep track of the latest Supernatural lore and my latest foray into Season 11 has confirmed things beyond my worst fears are happening:

>the edgy, clear fangirl-self-insert Darkness from before God created the world who He and the archangels defeated
>she's God's sister
>so yeah, basically God had to sacrifice his sister to make the world

Also somehow ghosts and vampires are still relevant even when the angels and demons are basically giving up and hitting the pub now that nobody is doing jack shit against the spoopy OC donut steel.

Oh, and Sam thinks going to free Lucifer and Michael is a good idea.

You guys should probably kill the Winchesters after the apocalypse arc concludes, it would save a lot of headachingly bad decisions.

>The less limits there are to the jumpchain, the harder it is for my imagination to work. So, I guess I don't really mind the challenge many jumps present.

But there is a limit. The Number of Pieces. Being able to grant them to champions a jumper finds along the way would create an additional opportunity to make a choice (is this person worth making a companion?), rather than eliminating the opportunity to make a choice. (in the absence of this ability, there is no question, there is only, nope, can't do it)

>>43730654
Nah, I took it up when the jump was new. I didn't get any traction then, I doubt I'd get any now. I just have to hope that a future jumpmaker is less stingy if a similar situation ever comes up.
>>
>>43731501
I do. She was some kinda rainbow dragon angel I think.
>>
>>43731559
Thing is that would effectively make them extra pods. Having the ability to reallocate them post jump but not have them companionize people could be nice so you can adjust your strategy, but making a bunch of extra pods just breaks stuff. And before you say Blue Feather that's from a hijacked jump.
>>

>>
>>43731689
Nono, that was the devianart OC. The canon mary sue is darker, edgier.

>>
>>43731603
We don't disagree exactly, but where you see that as a problem I see it as a solution. The pod rules as they exist are the result of the creator's very strict approach to jumps, and 7 pods across 20 jumps is one thing. 7 pods when jumping over 400 worlds is ridiculously limiting.

Since neither of us are likely to change the other's minds on this matter, I propose we don't try.
>>
Jumpchain, I've seen a lot of talk about waifus here. But do any of you have daughterus?
>>
>>43731804
Eh, having the ability to companion people without regard to the limits of the jump or the chain is very powerful. Also keeping it to a low quantity prevents people's companion lists from becoming meter long lists of every character they like. It's a bit stifling but makes you prioritize and prevents it from turning into gotta catch em all. By the time you hit 7 pods plus eight regular companions that's 15 characters to keep track of, adding more would just lead to people lying forgotten in frozen time. Also I recommend TWEWY's Someone Familiar and other perks like it. Secrets of Creation from Alpha Centauri could also do a good job of creating pseudo podded people who have the memories of the character but not necessarily their abilities. Of course explaining to them how they came to be might cause them a slight existential crisis.

Basically in my view of things pods are for people you really want the powers of, there are quite a few ways to create a relatively normal copy that as a created being is automatically a companion.

But I do mother the Waddle Dees a bit.
... I mean, look, I know I give them a lot of crap and send them on errands I know they'll fail at because it's funny, but if one of them has a nightmare I'm always there to hold them until they fall asleep, even if that means I have to cradle them around the lab while I'm working on stuff. I make sure they've got their scarves and muffs and jackets in cool weather, and snacks are always provided.
And, just for the record...? The only person who's allowed to be mean to my companions is me. This extends to every last Waddle Dee. And even Malefor.
I may be totally horrible and they might be better off without me but NO ONE ELSE is allowed to hurt them.

On that subject, I picked up Bowser from Yoshi's Island, and now he calls me Nana. Like, short for "Nanny Blueblue"?

I also picked up the cat thing from R-Type (which I guess I should post the build for eventually), and when it finally learned to talk its first word was to call me mama. ... which freaked me out and caused me to run away, and then when I found the courage to come back we negotiated it down to "Big Sister".

In Ar Tonelico, you can be a Reyvateil. You are a singing robot/cyborg girl. Origins are the most powerful, and are called goddesses of the towers in these days when people are too ignorant to know their origins. They're technically just sysadmins for the reality warping song technology. I think they're a mechanical core surrounded by mechanical fluid? Don't remember. Below that you have Betas, who are the mechanical fluid mimicking biology through soundwaves. They are created directly by the towers from cloned (And then slightly altered) blueprints from the Origins. They serve secondary functions in the systems of the towers. Then you have third gens, which is what happens when Betas interbreed with humans. You, only sometimes, get human girls who at puberty develop a 'tattoo' and start to suffer horrible aging and death as their body can't handle the growing technology from their weird genes. So they have to take constant drugs to live a normal life. Copyrighted drugs that are kept so expensive the producing company can just use third gens as slaves.

Anyway, in the jump, only Origins get the option to keep their tower. As a Beta, I don't get that luxury, so all those Reyvateil tower plans don't apply to me.

Jump 10: Fullmetal Alchemist
>Starting Location
Rolled 3: South
>Background
Alias: John Doe
Age: 21 (114)
Sex: Male
Drop-In
>Abilities
Truth--able to perform alchemy without a transmutation circle, using arms to form a symbolic one. knowledge of alchemy is expanded to near total mastery. for duration of Jump, lose right arm.
Automail Limb--gain attachment point for automail (right arm).
>Rare and Unique Items
Advanced Mil-Spec Automail--more life-like and mobile than basic automail. comes with stronger marterials and built-in weapons.
Mechanic's Tools--toolkit that allows to maintain, repair, and construct automail, or repair just about any purely mechanical device.
M1913 Cavalry Saber--US Cavalry Saber, three-foot blade.
>Complications
Tremor--For duration of Jump, hands shake slightly, enough to mess with any formulae trying to draw.
Enemy of the State--Warrant for my arrest, accused of some heinous crime. folks assume is true, and the Military is after me.

So, this one's a bit interesting. Thinking I'll mostly stick to rural areas, helping out as a sort of wandering hero or teaching those that show talent a bit of alchemy. In the cases where I do run into the military, or even Father and his brood, my plan is to overwhelm them enough that I can run away, while sticking to just hand to hand or alchemy--unless there are children in danger. Then it's no holds barred curbstomp beatdown. Might occasionally run into Ed and Al, but otherwise stay out of the way of the main plot and amuse myself with side stories.

Provided I can get away with it and it's not, like, wildly out of character for girls to wear boots in that universe for some reason, I usually wear black leather. It sortof goes well with my whole mad scientist villain schtick. They look really good with a white lab coat!
Any time the jump remotely allows for it in terms of science or pseudo-science, I also go for the rocket boots upgrade. Despite the fact that I can fly. The extra propulsion can come in handy sometimes, though!

Funny story: In Sonic, I hadn't quite figured out a reliable method to actually FLY using boot-sized technology, and was at best able to make a somewhat more tractionless variant of Shadow's hovershoes. Or maybe I was just bad at steering.
So I faked it. Because, as mentioned, I could already fly under my own power. It's just that rocket boots are REALLY COOL, and saying I have them gives me the ability to fly in settings where magical flight isn't really a thing. So I just stuck some sparkly hover bits on the bottom of my boots and told everyone they were rocket boots.
Nobody ever figured it out.
... except Omega. He has some kind sensor system that figured out the propulsion wasn't sufficient for prolonged fight, and spat out an error message to that effect.
But thankfully nobody ever pays attention to what Team Dark has to say.

I was a Tone Deaf Origin Reyvateil.
So, yes, technically I ended the jump with a massive tower that rendered all previous warehouse space concerns obsolete. But believe me when I say I fucking earned it.

Additionally, a faction of nobles made a replacement Reyvateil to replace me and put them in charge of the tower as unopposed rulers.

Basically... the Neo Pureblood β-class Reyvateil drawback states that taking that drawback as an Origin causes the previous Origin to have suffered some kind of catastrophic injury that required you to step up and replace her, with the added caveat of you being basically a puppet for your masters.
That's what happened, except I was the original Origin who had suffered a catastrophic systems failure, and nobody except me knew what the fuck they were doing.

So I had to fight to regain my position as tower overseer, not die to insurgents, and protect the tower and its people, all while completely unable to communicate with the tower systems in any way but direct mechanical interfacing.
So I had to learn a lot of the underlying principles of Song Science and tower interactions really, really fast.

I'm told I had a crazed look in my eye of determination the whole jump, and I tended to start yelling when things went wrong, which was constantly. Apparently it was pretty scary.
People said I was like a real fallen angel; a demon in all but form.

If you have a crew and import it to SC and fully automate the ship... what happens to the crew?

They aren't going to disappear, though that said I would probably fuse it with a Tower Seed and just upload them all, extruding biofluid bodies as needed. Have to be careful to avoid massive increases of population rescued from shitty worlds turning such a system into a Mantra Generation Matrix... though I suppose that can be considered to be a happy little bonus.

>>43734137

Yeah, the actual details of how Cosmospheres work could easily be spun into something dark - they're all stored and run on one giant mind-frame that is partitioned to create individuality among each Reyvateil unit. There's a small element of personality bleed which helps them synchronize their singing and work together, but also can mean that an emotional breakdown (quite rare as they're very stable) or IPD can jump to nearby Reyvateil.

IPD's get unfucked after AT2 though, when their boundary gate is properly sealed. The cost is Infel's mind being deleted and overwritten, but that's probably more due to her letting it happen than anything else. If anyone is capable of moving her mindstate into a new server or just into the general IPD storage, it's her.
>>
>>43735515

>>43735515
>If you have a crew and import it to SC and fully automate the ship... what happens to the crew?

They're now passengers? Kind of a nice reward for them, actually, from a certain point of view.
>>
>>43735581
The ship itself is very clean, neat, and filled with advanced tech. No chaos taint in the actual ship, the only part to worry about is that one of the upgrades is DEldar tech, rest is Tau, Eldar or Imperium. Shouldn't effect her.
>>
>>43735515
The fortunate part is that Reyvateil crossover very rarely happens outside of very controlled circumstances. Singing with other Reyvateil is like opening a tiny crack in a sealed door, allowing them to understand and synchronize each others emotions to a small degree. So crossover is mostly willful and insignificant, no personality overwriting going on when things are working correctly. More like minor empathy (as in 'psychic' empathy) when singing.

The issue with IPDs is, of course, that this door has hole drilled in it, meaning they can't shut anyone else out, at all, nor can they filter it. Though you already know all that. I guess this is just for the benefit of anyone other than us curious about it.
>>
>>43735550
Nothing. They were never on the ship. You retrieve the Fleshmetal upgrade while the Light of Terra is still being reconstructed, so no crew had moved in yet at the time I installed it. The engineers overseeing the repair systems found it a bit weird, but the ship was smart enough to recognize them as helpful symbiotes rather than invaders and therefore didn't do anything to them.

It's a game where there's about 200-500 people on a server and you spawn literally naked and with nothing but a rock and a torch. You try to gather resources, make bootleg houses and weapons, and try not to get murdered and robbed. Hilarity ensues.

Stop giving me ideas, I already have a couple of jumps to work on.
There are a lot I'd like to jump through, but that doesn't mean they'd make particularly good jumps on their own. But the potential for aggregating is there.

For example The Forest, The Long Dark, Shelter and Stranded Deep could all be lumped into a Generic Marooned/Wilderness Survival jump, with varying drawbacks (Cannibals, Eternal Winter, Islands, Animalia, Dependants)

Duskers, Halfway, Deadnaut, Stasis could all go into a Generic Stranded In Space jump. Maybe even fit Viscera Cleanup Detail in there. Thawed (Drop In), Janitor, Space Marine, Drone Operator as backgrounds.

Neo Scavenger, Nether, Noct, Lone Survivor could all get mashed into a Generic Post-Apocalypse, which is something I've been making notes for.

Windward and Sunless Sea share the nautical theme.

Subnautica could be ok, what with the crafting and exploring for whoever was looking for more underwater jumps. Depth is pretty fun, too.
>>
>>43736189

The 12km version of the Light of Terra would have an ideal crew capacity of around 250,000.

It's a mostly self-sustaining space city, and would normally have an attendant fleet of support ships that mine local asteroids for water and minerals for spare components.

40k ships regularly have spaces that people have forgotten about, and life support systems can presumably maintain the sheer crew size, so I'm betting that after the ship gets fixed it's time to start doing it like they do on the Discovery Channel.

Although the thought of being the Lord-Babysitter-Captain to a crew of hypercompetent ten year olds is hilarious.
>>
>>43736247

It's probably running a skeleton crew and an uncommon (possibly slightly heretical) degree of automation.

It limps into orbit, and the refit would presumably take care of a lot of the problems.

As an aside, the Light of Terra is from an adventure module for Rogue Trader, where in typical FFG fashion the adventure assumes the players will just let the chance to claim it slip through their fingers to follow their railroading.

So someone actually did a writeup for the actual details of reconstruction when their players decided to keep it - it gives a great sense of the scale of the task.

The actual size is never mentioned in the module because you're never intended to keep it - it's probably the 12km version though.

The canon is quite contradictory on the matter of sizes anyway - 12-20km are all possible.

The Sperenza from Lords of Mars is probably <30km, though the Sperenza is a very special case.

>>43736301
The one in the jump is a Gloriana, so its size range is basically whatever you want for Imperium capital ships. Because Gloriana are all very special cases

Most the crew are galleyslaves, they're in the lower decks. They do stuff like reload macrocannons, hazard cleanups, patching broken shit so the Tech Priests can come by later and repair it (or just sanctioned the patch).

Depending on the voidship and who's it's captained by, they fill the lower decks with slaves from hive worlds & prison planets. A lot are born in their position, as they really don't do much when ship is in travel. So they do what people do best, have lots of children. These children will replace their parents when they die. Which considering that galleyslaves don't last very long is going to be sooner than later.

AdMech is notibly the exception to the rule. They use servitors and automation. The few non-tech priests they have, are servants but would be considered middle class in Forge World. Their children might even be able to join AdMech.

LoT (Jump) takes inspiration from LoT (FFG) but doesn't go by 100% canon. The entire jump isn't 100% canon either, the idea of you popping in out of no where and taking command of a space hulk with Toby the Tyranid, or Necron Spyder or a Alpha Legion undercover operative in the Blood Ravens isn't 100% canon.

What it is, is very well made and fun to jump in. Even if you don't break the Deadlight, the idea of you being without any your powers and surviving through sheer luck and skills you pick up along the way. That's pretty fun, no?

Oh, and how it charges similar price levels for shitty personal equipment and ship components, when as a ship captain you can just get these kinds of things.

Did I say that I hated the fluff?

No. I just said that there's a lot of it, and that along with the jump mechanics makes it far more work.

Bookkeeping is not an inherently good thing. It's just a thing. Jumpchain has a lot of bookkeeping. It is possible to have too much bookkeeping, and mentioning it is not whining about it.

You may be confusing me with the person I'm replying too.

The jump has flaws. It's a great jump, but it isn't perfect.

A desire for a soulless version stripped of personality makes it pretty clear.
>>
>>43736690

>A desire for a soulless version stripped of personality makes it pretty clear.

Is not the same as:

>It could have really done with a summary page at the end that stripped out the vast swathes of fluff and just gave costs and names.

"Personality" does not mean that poor ease-of-use is actually a Feature and therefore Good and Right, and anyone who would like a bit more approachability is therefore Unfun, Hates Creativity and is demanding a total rewrite to strip out all the hated trash and leave only simple descriptions of powerups.

You're overreacting. There are no perfect jumps that cannot be improved.

Light of Terra would be improved by better organization and the addition of a summary sheet or bookmarks in the vein of the later Final Fantasy jumps, because it's a lot of work to parse. This is not essential and I am not demanding it, but simply mentioned that it would be useful.
>>
>>43736735
>Fluff is bad.
>Stripping out fluff is an improvement.

Can you just stop? I'd tell you to go play a spreadsheet simulator, but you hate those too.

He's not saying get rid of the fluff, he's just saying that a plain-text summary in addition to the fluff would have been helpful.
>>

>a summary page at the end

>DEMANDING COMPLETELY DIFFERENT VERSIONS

Obviously you're not arguing in good faith, so I've wasted enough time responding to you.

Here's a few freebies to help you strawman, feel free to pretend these were my argument all along:

The fluff is pretty shit, who needs that many companions?
Honestly the jump writer shouldn't be so arrogant. Who wants to read so much masturbation over space elves?
Toby the Tyranid? That's not how they work.
The Deadlight is a stupid gimmick, it could never take MY precious powers away. I'll just kill the Chaos Gods and sort it out that way.
Crunch is pointless, just give me the powers and make more jumps.
>>
>>43736757
>>43736768
Your 'summary' is asking to rewrite it and create a new version for your sake. You vastly underestimate what work is involved in making these things.
>>
>>43736780

...and you vastly overestimate the amount of work needed to reduce it to a list of names with prices.

Protip - that's how most jumps are started, and deleting all the nonessential text and tidying up the result would take about ten minutes at most.

I guess you haven't actually made any?
>>
>>43736789
>Just the names.
That's not a summary. That's nothing. You wouldn't be able to jump that. You'd need some kind of description. Where do you think 'summarized' perk descriptions come from? You have to rewrite them.

More than you ever will.
>>
>>43736553
Well first you'd have to come up with a way of scaling LMIB up that far, since as written you start hitting diminishing returns at about apartment size, and the Light of Terra is about the size of Manhattan even before importing it into SupCom. Even amplifying LMIB with Gift Of The Thousand Master from Mahou Sensei Negima you'd still be a couple orders of magnitude short, so... you're gonna need more perks.
>>
>>43736794

It's just a list, which you append at the end of the full text with all the details, to make it easier after you've read it all through, to organize and remember. It isn't a replacement for the whole text, like you keep pretending I said it should be.

Have you never read an rpg book that had them at the end?

Seriously, this isn't hard to understand.

Speaking as the person who actually put in a summary page in his jumps, and that's only with the recent "Arland series" formatting style, I really have to say - this is really pointless arguing.

What's done is done, and LoT came a very long time ago. Before the "Arland series", having a full set of jump notes with no fluff perk effects outlined into tables with hyperlinks flying back and forth wasn't even considered. The reasons for this are plentiful, but here are some of them:

1) Average jump length is anywhere from 7 to 13 pages - it simply doesn't warrant the effort of putting in all the notes.
2) Some jumpmakers have a style that doesn't use point form outlining beforehand.
3) There honestly wasn't any care/appreciation for these kinds of notes, so why would anyone do it?

Hyperlinks, full fluff stripped perks at the end, all of these are just there as conveniences for people, and by no means something that should be seen as an obligation for jumpmakers. I do it because my average jump length is 40 - 50 pages. I did it for XIV because I knew exactly how long it was.

Thing is I'm not sure that people realize a lot of these things are very recent in the overall timeline of /jc/. LoT was made a very long time ago, and it's a great jump. If the content is good, people will overlook its flaws. Conversely, if the content is bad, people will ignore the positive aspects within it. I think the fact that LoT being one of /jc/'s constant talking points (under a positive light) stands testament to that.

But bookkeeping and ease of use? Those things are a matter of author preference, and really not the kind of thing you'd take up as a point of contention here. Take it up with the author directly and you might get somewhere. Discuss it here, and we're only going to get a whole slew of circular arguments. It'll be a matter of debate over something that never had standards in the first place.
>>
>>43736963
Lets Make It Bigger states it operates via "demonic magic". Gift Of The Thousand Master states it can "even increase the strength of magical forms from other worlds".

Pokemon Super Mystery Dungeon is pretty much liquid joy. I don't really have anything that's on topic to say but I just want you guys to know, this game is great and it makes you feel great.
>>
>>43737028
As far as I'm aware the weaponmaking perks from all three settings are very race specific in terms of what you can bind to you, and it's likely that the abilities will be dependent on your own ability as to what you can subjugate and forge. It's probably a question you'd want to ask the people who made those jumps rather than me, since the Fal'Cie here are just god substitute tier automaton.
>>
>>43737059
Actually if the lore is to be believed, the Darksiders' crafting is quite applicable to all sorts of supernatural beings. The Nephilim forged world-ending weapons out of one of many races they conquered.

My personal headcanon for the Jump is that the Deadlight and it's attendant machinery is what's causing Jump-chan to be able to do what she normally does, so instead she gives gentle 'nudges'.

Hence Toby/Necron Tomb Spyder/Blood Raven/Tau. That is, literally, the most Jump-chan can do at the moment for you - kick events a little in your direction to get the ball rolling.
>>
>>43736392
I love the 'Deadlight Broken' option.

Fortress of slow isn't that bad. It has weapons on it fit for Dyson sphere. If you're into SCIENCE! Then I'm sure there's way to get an interialess drive on it. Or better yet, Futurama's dark matter drive. So while it's slow, it pulls the universe around it making it go fast.

The Fortress is pretty huge, so like while it's slow it makes a great homebase. Have a few Stargates, to travel to and from the fortress.

>>
>>43737451
Sounds retarded. More likely is that the author tried to backtrack and make the option more appealing without considering what was already written, leading to an inconsistency like this.
>>
>>43737457
Kinda hard to call it a back track when the doc calls it a dyson sphere when it's first introduced, and C'tan trapping necron space fuckery is invoked when its given to you.

>Finally you reach the end of a maze of ruin spanning light minutes and you find yourself surrounded by the still battling remnants of the greatest warfleet the galaxy, indeed, the universe itself has ever seen. Fleets composed entirely of Battleships swarm about, and behind them lurk even greater more terrible vessels, things forged from the nightmares of gods themselves, and at that moment they seem more numerous than all the stars in the sky.
>Before your eyes the ships form into a ragged approximation of a battle line and begin an attack, and as they start to burn and die you finally see your destination, revealed by the reflections of fire and explosion that dance across its surface.
>A Dyson Sphere.

>Should you defeat the three stages of Orikan the Ascended, you will find that the battle has rendered the bulk of the control system for the Great Work inoperable. With a few hundred million years of careful study, you may be able to tease out its working, but for now nothing of the colossal device remains for you here.
>Even as you watch, the platform you faced Orikan on is shifting, pulling in on itself as it repairs the damage, reshaping the now empty Tesseract vaults, the containment devices useless, the last of the C'tan shards unmade moments before you struck down Orikan. Just under three hundred meters across the platform ceases to shrink and starts to use the material is has regained to forge itself into something new.
>>
>>43737544
>Just under three hundred meters across the platform ceases to shrink
You're not getting a dyson sphere. You're getting a small part of the platform you fight the last battle on.
>>
>>43737451
>Guns are bigger on the inside.

... If the Dyson sphere is built out to Earth's orbit, and the Fortress is 300m across, that's a scale of... roughly... a billion to one. The Time Lords of Gallifrey are calling, they're impressed (and scared) and would like to subscribe to your newsletters.

>>43737544

Woah. The actual text from the jump is "A construction vast enough to wrap around an entire solar system in a perfect sphere"... so that may be just as far as Pluto (forty billion to one) or as far as the Outermost Oort (possibly as much as two hundred trillion to one). Careful, anon, the Xelee might notice you.

>>43737457
Stop the salt.
>>
>>43737588

>>
>>43737586
If Necron's are capable of that level of size shifting, why is Orikan even bothering with something the size of a solar system? Couldn't he work with something way smaller?
>>
>>43737619
The point of a dyson sphere is to gather energy from an active star and provide living space.
>>
>>43737627
But he doesn't need living space and if it's meant to be gathering from a star, why does it need to be around the whole solar system? Wouldn't that be wildly more inefficient than just making it around the star?

Not true, not how it works, and not relevant, since that doesn't change the fact that the weapons are still coming from the dyson sphere, and are still dyson sphere class weapons.

People have in the past. Hasn't worked out that well since we're in this situation right now. It'd probably be best if he could just outline in the pdf what it does, what it's weapons are and so on. Seems like it'd be better then leaving tidbits in posts in thread.

>>
>>43737715
Babs has said they have guns from a Dyson sphere. Not anything else, like if they're shrunken down or if the fortress is actually big enough to hold those guns at fair size, both of which are fair questions given the relative vagueness of the description.

You do realize that not every weapon system on a battleship is comicly overlarge. Yes, you have the main guns, but you have multitude of other weapon systems as well, ranging in size from the main guns down to smaller point defense weapons. Those smaller point defense systems are usually more rubust than their non-ship or vehicle mounted counterparts, and will frequently, if not always, carry a different designation on account of that: 240G v. 240B.

Apply that to this situation, and calm your clam.

No, something else. In the quest one of the warmasters goes Witch during the fight after burning too much mana trying to stop Walpurgis Nacht. I assume that's what the drawback is referencing.

The recent Light of Terra discussion reminded me of something I was curious about.

So the in jump explanation is that the Deadlight
a piece of Necron tech is able to somehow interfere with the benefactors abilities( by blocking the warp despite not blocking the warp at all).

So for those of you who took LoT how does in character jumper you rationalize this, do you assume the Benefactor has some kind of previously unknown limit, do you assume it got bored of you and this is its way of going "Be entertaining or die', or do you have some other rationalization?

For those of you who 'picked' the Necron route, have you ever been tempted to try to figure out if Necron tech is actually effective on the benefactor or not?
>>
>>43739032
I rationalize it as Jump-chan having done it on purpose, but with my consent. My interpretation is that between jumps I meet with her to discuss the jump I just came from and plan for the next one. I basically get to read the text of the jump before going into it. So I went into Light of Terra knowing about the Deadlight, and anything about it blocking the extra-universal powers was just theater to mess with Orikan (the Deadlight-intact version of the confrontation with him convinced me that the whole jump was basically just trolling him). I didn't have my abilities because we thought it would make for an interesting adventure, that's all.
>>
>>43739032
my personal approach is that it was ultimately the work of one of the benefactor's enemies, and that she was kept busy dealing with them, while I struggled through LoT.

If i choose to break it instead, it throws off her foe, and she can take advantage of that moment to dispatch them.
>>
>>43739032
I just chalked it up to it being a plot device created by the benefactor. Wouldn't be the first time she's fucked with me.

Granted I also wanked it so that I didn't actually find the Deadlight until the very end of the jump. There's no way I could have not broken the thing in the original situation, and no way I could have survived the consequences of doing so.
>>
>>43739032
Necrons have a benefactor of their own.

I went Necron route.
>>
>>43739032
I was too busy trying to survive to really think about it. I'd probably assume that, A. she did it on purpose and just wanted to see how I'd fair or B. There are other Benefactors like her and one of them decided to fuck us both over for shits and giggles.

Really? Care to tell more about this benefactor? Presumably they're not a C'tan given how things went down with Orikan.

>>43739032
Little of column A, little of column C. There's always something in the multiverse you can't prepare for. Something out of context that the best laid plans and all the power in the worlds slips up on. You know that time in Supernatural where the indestructible Leviathans died on contact with borax? It was a bit like that. The Benefactress is incomprehensibly powerful, but not infalliable.

However, after some testing we discovered that the ONLY reason it worked was because of the ludicrous precision that happened in the transitionary state between jumps.

This is a ridiculous oversimplification but-normally a handful of sand isn't a threat to your life, but suppose someone threw some in your eye while you were crossing the street. There is a certain degree of effort involved in inserting a Jumper into a background, where one is "copypasted" into the fabric of reality with perks and such. To take an even cruder analogy, Orikan predicted the exact moment when Jump-Chan was about to hit "paste" and used the Deadlight to create a quantum glitch causing her "cursor" to hit the "delete button" instead, resulting in the Jumper being reduced to quantum foam and thus deprived from the intricate conceptual lattice that keeps their perks and warehouse attached to them. With Magnus' help, preliminary analysis of the Deadlight indicated it operated via a combination of incresaing the energy levels needed to breach dimensional boundaries, accelerating quantum uncertainty to make certain events more likely and a mechanism somewhat akin to the Sting Shard but in reverse.

Oh, and-you'll notice that in spite of being stranded, you nonetheless have CP to spend on certain items. It seems clear that Orikan's plan wasn't 100% foolproof, and that betting on the will to power wasn't the only mistake he made.

All Necron works are ultimately sufficiently advanced science. Entropy is an observable facet of the universe. We hypothesise that miniscule flaws in the Deadlight's operation caused a Dragon Break-like event, producing an incomplete timeline in which our consciousness and the Benefactress' were the only things that existed, simultaneously isolating the Benefactress' presence from the universe while creating a glitch in reality manifesting as a conceptual space overlapping the main Light of Terra timeline with too few dimensions to directly interact with it, but nonetheless discretely affecting events through choices. In short, a parastic timeline. It's unclear whether this is a side effect of the Deadlight's mechanism or a feature, though.

Either way. It's clear to us that since from a Jumper's perspective all realities are frozen when outside them and the technology in question only works when operated from within the world you're about to land it at the split attosecond when you're being "grafted" (again, these are all analogies and the actual process of backgrounds is not yet fully understood by us) into your background, for all intents and purposes using Necron tech to interfere with the Benefactress is futile because you are unable to step outside your own chain where her influence predominates.

It would be like trying to open a steel box with a crowbar when the crowbar is inside of the box, you see.
