No idea, were I a Knight I'd keep my pointy stick either on my shoulder or hip to draw easily while in the thick of it. Drawing from the groin would be incredibly awkward while grappling.

Nah, not really. You can get used to it pretty quickly. Also, sometimes it's less in the way.

well... most of the pics I have are saved from 4chan threads, mostly /tg/. by that I mean I save everything that is valid from threads like these and not just the ones I like (I usually skip the osprey pics or modern drawings because nobody cares about those). So yeah I saved them from /tg/. There are a few that I got through from other sites like facebook or tumblr or happened to take a photo of it personally or got it from others who take the photos personally. But those are in minority.

I spend too much time here...

Alright, let's forget the probably typo about 15th century, because that's probably wanted to be 16th century.

Then there is the problem that most armour that is considered black and withe aren't anima. At all. Like, from the top of my head I could only come up with one that is arguably an anima and for that it's just the lower half of the breastplate.

Then there is the problem of narrowing it down to just one kind of helmet when proto-morions, morions and a few other proto-whatever were there too.

And categorizing armour by who used it in an age where uniformized soldiers weren't yet a thing... that's just plain wrong.

what I'm trying to say just around in the landsknechte formations there were a fuckton of different kind of armours, and they are pretty much a pike and shot formation. From black and white to almain rivet, maximillian, etc.

The issues are that /aco/ is a melting pot for everyone, and thus you have the /h/ crowd not liking the presence of /d/ickmonsters, and that we used to have a pretty damn lax policy on "western" art; shitty western 2005-deviantart tier stuff could be deleted, but the decent shit could stay. Now, western stuff is actively being deleted.

Combine these two things, and you have people having to go to multiple boards to get their fixes, shouting at each other for "not liking what I like", and whining about changes to moderation policy.

Shit was largely OK as it was. Hell, /d/ was in a better place right before this, as the amount of futa spam had dropped.

Anything that gets in the way of the purpose of the board by introducing massive drama is bad in my eyes.

Imagine if we left /tg/ up, but started moderating heavily against anything that is not strictly traditional games related, and instead also opened /imu/ - "imaginary universes"

1. where does THIS thread go?
2. is /imu/ going to get other users who make it feel like Not /tg/? Yes, it is.

The "Kings Mirror", a 13th century Norwegian text, features this passage in the section on warfare and how a soldier is to be equipped "He must have a dirk and two swords, one girded on and another hanging from the pommel of the saddle."

Now, my expertise only runs to a few decades prior to the writing of the Kings Mirror but several reasons present themself. The fist is that the more the merrier when it comes to weapons, and the text also urges the man-at-arms to carry a spear and crossbow suitible for use on horseback.

The second is that, as in the picture, one sword is an arming sword and the other is a "greatsword of war", or to use modern terminology a hand-and-a-half/proto-longsword.

These came into being during the latter half of the 13thC, which matches the style of armour worn in the picture, evolving from arming swords that had been increasing in length throughout the 12th and 13th centuries.

Now instead of two broadly similar swords we have our knight carrying a larger sword and a more mangeable arming sword which fufil different battlefield roles.
