We look my middle eastern people since we are a desert middle eastern style civilization, at least we were originally. The Hatteras confederation are more caucasian looking and the lizards come in a variety of colors. Also map.

Where we last left off we were in the midst of an economic boom after defeating the lizards. The lizards are currently penned up in a fenced off village area under guard. We will need to figure out a more permanent solution to dealing with them. In addition our people have become close with the Hatteras confederacy, who have developed a central government and a burgeoning river trade with us. There is talk among them of joining our two peoples, but they are still threatened by the strange halfman raiding their southern shores,another problem that we must confront. In addition we have not explored much north of lizard city.

Well I counted the heroes among the population so we really have only 1 vanilla vampire and 1 vampire that is a small child we saved earlier.

You send a small scout force north up the river on canoes led by a vampire warrior.

Meanwhile the lizards seem to be rapidly breeding and increasing their numbers, due to their high numbers we are running low on food to give them and decide to put a number of them to work as labourers on our farms and mines in order to make them into productive members of society. Some of the Hatteras traders seeing this offer to trade us for some of the lizards themselves, to be put to work as well. We agree and give them a large group of lizards in exchange for food and iron.

After the negotiation the traders also notify us that the halfmen launched another, even larger raid. They have sacked one of the larger coastal villages and taken away many of its occupants onto their ships. They seem to use large wooden ships with white sails armed with large metal tubes sticking out the side that spew fire. They seem very religious and obsessed with finding gold and interrogating people looking for hidden treasures.

After several weeks the scout team comes back, reporting that after many miles of travelling down river they encountered increasingly mountainous lands and eventually came across a large town, heavily fortified town embedded into the side of a mountain. The men occupying this city were short and stout with long beards. The party met with their leader who explained that they are a dwarven colony from a kingdom far to the north. They lost contact with their kingdom several years ago and have since expanded and grown independently. They wish to have good trade relations with us. They also informed us to avoid the west of their town where they have skirmished with a local orc tribe whom they have had a feud with since originally settling the colony many years ago. The vampire leader of the group also informs you later that he believes that the dwarven leader was holding back something, something important.

We already have our main town well fortified. However we can focus on blood magic development. In fact our people are interested in honoring their vampire protectors with a large building, to be used for blood magic research, training of vampires and blood collection, among other things. In addition we also have problems due to our population outgrowing the size of our town. There are many businessmen and farmers that would like to expand to new towns in the former lizard territory as well settling the coastal plain of the Hatteras confederacy.

Should we support these initiatives?

Also our allies in the Hatteras Confederacy have requested assistance in dealing with the halfmen threat, they would like boots on the ground in addition to training support and equipment to help deal with the threat.

Building the Blood Tower should be greatest priority . make lizards work on it , too .

The construction of the blood tower begins in earnest, while a group of colonists sets out for the lizardmen city. They are accompanied by a small group of soldiers.

In addition we send a small expedition to the Hatteras confederacy led by Talif and Haggo.

Several weeks pass and there have been some developments. The colonists report that the land is fertile and will make for a good settlement, however the darkness of the lizards demonic temple deeply scares the colonists and is reducing their ability to get new settlers. They request we send a team to demolish it and use the stones for construction of housing and fortifications. They also report the appearance of a dwarven riverboat, carrying emmisaries requesting passage to our main town.

You acquiesce to the colonists request to demolish the temple and do so using some of the stones to build them homes and a wall around their colony while the rest of the stones are placed on a series of barges you send up the river for use in the construction of the blood tower.

At the same time you order Rhas to have a part of the jungle near the river cleared, a few miles out from our town. You proceed to set up a large tent and some basic furniture in the clearing as a meeting place. You send a canoe out to invite the dwarves to the meeting place. You make sure to look as unthreatening as possible, wearing only court finery with a light chainmail coat under it and you have Orrik with you wearing the same. You only have 4 guards with you matching the size of the party of dwarves, which is 2 diplomats and 4 guards.

The meeting starts and goes well into the night, after a fine meal and some drinking we finally get down to brass tacks. They want food and lumber and are willing to trade us iron and gold ore for it in additional to gold coins and pottery and finely crafted dwarven tools weapons and armor. They express some confusion on why we are not meeting at our town, as they know that the small colony they encountered couldn't possibly be the extent of our civilization, they also are curious about how we defeated the lizards as the dwarves found them to be a dangerous and numerous foe.

How should we explain ourselves? Also what kind of trade deal should we offer?

You explain to the diplomats that after a battle with the lizards that they crumbled rather easily and you took them over. The diplomats start to ask about the demon and the demonic influence on the lizards. The seem very, very interested in the demons and anything we know about them. You explain how we were able to slay the demonic dragon at great cost.

You agree to a deal accepting tools, armor, weapons and also some shipments of iron and gold ore.

You conclude the meeting and the diplomats board their boat and return home in the morning. You are left with curiousity as to why they were supposed in the demon. As you return to the town you are informed that one of the men from the party sent down to Hatteras has returned, reporting that the training of the locals has gone well but there have been white sails seen off the coast as well as the torchlights from a ship at night, clearly halfmen ships scouting, possibly the precursor for an attack. How do we respond to the threat.

We currently have a dozen men led by Haggo and Talif with the Hatteras confederacy. The Hatteras militia strength is estimated to be around 100 men once they gather everyone from the most outlying villages. We have no seaworthy vessels right now but we could build some.

How do we deal with this threat?

You ship out to the confederacy lands with a large force behind you. You camp near the shore but make sure the camp is hidden and no campfires are lit, at night you have the vampires lead groups of soldiers with pickaxes and shovels to dig pitfall traps at lowtide. You also create simple traps on the beach inspired by the tactics used by our hunters in the jungle with digging a pit, lining the bottom with sharpened sticks and then covering the top. You also build a small hiding spot on the beach where a vampire is kept on sentry duty at all times watching for enemy movement, upon sight he is to light a small signal fire behind him towards inland, signalling our army to move into defensive positions. The army sits for four days before any enemy activity is seen aside from the occasional coastal patrol. You order blood brought from our town to be given to all vampires in preparation for the battle. With our vampires fully empowered its simply a question of waiting for the enemy to make their move. On the fourth day, at dawn 3 white sailed ships are seen on the horizon, as well as a dozen small rowboats carrying around 10 men each. The sentry lights the signal and our army prepares to ambush. As the invaders approach they fail to sense the trap, and their men get out the boats and slowly start wading into shore. After they cross no more than a few feet the men start to fall into traps, our army allows their entire force to disembark before a line of archers, both our own and those of the militia begin to rain arrows on the attackers. The invaders are temporarily clearly shocked by the unexpected ambush and simply wallow for a few moments before one of them in armor, clearly some sort of officer yells in a foreign language pointing his sword towards the beach. The arrows drop at least another half dozen of their troops as they rush onto the beach. As they do so they lose another few men to pitfall traps.

By the time the enemy made it past the gauntlet of traps and arrow fire they are down to around half their number, with the tide turning red from the blood of the fallen, including the enemy officer who was leading the men onto the beach. As they make their way further into the beach you signal your men to charge, as 60 infantrymen stand and begin running at the invaders, the invaders organize into a curious formation with a group of pikemen going down on their knees and a group of men with the strange metal tube weapons standing in a line slightly behind them. A moment passes before a sound like thunder erupts from their weapons, emitting smoke and killing at least half a dozen of our troops outright. After battle is met, their pikemen take a small toll but we quickly overcome them and start to engage their ranged combatants, by the battles end our men corner a group of their men, and force them to surrender. What should we do to these prisoners?

Have them call their ships in to shore so we can take them over if it fails then just take them back to camp.

Also make sure our mages keep training to reach ever greater power and have the necromancer raise the dead of the enemies corpses.

When you demand them to call their ships, they laugh at you. You attempt to have the necromancer raise some of the dead but he can only raise one weak thrall. This poor performance makes you think they need more training.

At night you interrogate the prisoners.You find out they are on a glorious crusade of conquest against all they percieve to be heretics. They have advanced technology and believe that we are primitive heathens to be purged.

The first thing you decide after the magic school is established is the first graduating class should be focused on necromancy.
The blood tower also finally finishes construction. This opens up the possibility of greater improvements to our vampires and blood magic.

In addition our men recover many pieces of the halfmens equipment and we have put some of our best minds towards trying to understand and replicate their technology.
