Well, I'm finally hooked.
Whichever one is in the VerySlow repack, Hook 3 i guess.
And at a blistering THREE FRAMES PER SECOND. Also i have to reboot into Windows to get it to run (linux-wine just sits forever at "loading models") but at least i can finally produce decent screenshots.
Well...maybe not *decent* since i've just spent the last hour molesting a nun in slow motion.

btw i know there's a custom toy that looks like an Oscar, has anyone ever made one of those little statues of Virgin Mary?

As far as I understand it the hook works by implementing additional rendering features and injecting those into the directx dll the game uses. Presumably this is done in C++.
Now I'm willing to bet there are not a lot of people on MG who could contribute but maybe it would attract more people if it were open. I certainly would like to take a look at that code.
If he releases just the code it would still technically not be free to everyone since most people are unable to compile it.

How does Hook look for C:/TheKlub17?


I'm running a dual-boot of Win 8.1 and Mint Linux 17.3 with Wine. I have the exact same game (the VS repack) installed in C:/TheKlub17 and Home/[my name]/.wine/drive_C/TheKlub17. When launched from Windows via C:/TheKlub17/Binaries/TheKlub17_Launcher.exe, the hook loads. When launched from Linux via Home/[my name]/.wine/drive_C/TheKlub17/Binaries/TheKlub17_Launcher.exe the game loads but if I try to start a scene it sits at "Loading Models" for hours and never gets to the scene. BUT when I load the Linux copy from TK17-114.001.exe it runs fine, but without the hook. Also mounting my C: from Linux and selecting any of the various .exe in the C:/TheKlub17 install causes it to load the Home/[my name]/.wine/drive_C/TheKlub17 instead.

So I'm thinking that the problem might be because Wine is redirecting calls to C: to the Home/[my name]/.wine/drive_C/ folder and Hook is trying to look in / (root drive) instead of C:

Now I already know that pointing Wine to an actual C: instead of the virtual drive will fuck up the Windows installation on that drive. Thing is, the only reason I even have to keep Windows is because it runs Hook. If I can get Linux to run Hook by directing Wine to C:, I won't care if I bork Windows in the process. But if I try it and it doesn't work, I've got to reinstall Windows to get Hook back and then re-install Linux because Windows sucks.

So before I bork my computer, is there any chance of this working?

check your Archives/2.114.001/ for files named "Custom.NoRealModelsM.txx", "Custom.NoHentaiModelsM.txx" and so on. If you have them, just delete them and your male models will show up. Not really. The hook does a little more, depending on the version.
Hook basically injects features from newer versions of DirectX, without messing with the engine itself. As far as I know, for example, you can't make a game use bumpmaps, normalmaps, or tesselation with ENB.
You can make them go together though.

Aside using the in-site search engine, there's not much you can do. MG is a mess and will always be, but it's the only place to get what you need for this game. Plus, there is a lot of stuff you might want specifically and that no other anon likes/needs, so making a reccomended mods list is iffy.
It's best for you to experiment creating your waifus personally, play with the sliders and get your slider-fu going. If you want a certain character, search for their clothing, hair and accessories on the site using the search engine.

Can anyone tell me why the models from pic related look so ugly? I have a pretty much vanilla install, only with the required R9 scripts (I believe) and the custom files for clothes and so on. These were downloaded fresh from the site. When I load them on for the first time, their hair's always raised above their head for whatever reason and I have to manually set it back on their heads, which never looks good. Also, for some reason changing their pubic hair also places hair on their navel (?) which always changed and I can never find a away to turn it off. This happens on every character, not just the downloads. Whenever I change the nipples from whatever the characters have by default, the texture sort of blurs and drags off to the side. There's all that and the faces not resembling the characters at all, as you can see. This has been happening for months now. Can any of you people guide my hips towards the way to fix the stuff I just mentioned? This is really killing the game for me. Will elaborate on any of this if needed.

It runs...Very Slow...but it runs with hook4 and everything.

i just re-installed again and haven't swapped the Hook 4 files back in, but they did work. This time I'm taking my time and just moving the mods and textures that i want into the VS build instead of just swapping in my save, archives, and mods folders because I had a shitload of redundant textures from stupid megapacks, so pic related is (i think) Hook 3.

VS has made a couple of replacers for the vanilla clothing that will stop the clipping, but last I checked it wasn't 100% complete for the full game. Kasha made a high-poly version of the original game body, but even that was hit & miss. Use body mods when making nude scenes, disable for clothed. Or just deal with it.

I usually don't talk about the development of mods but I feel like I should state my opinion, mostly for the sake of discussion. After all, we need something to talk about.
Probably a terrible idea but it's a porn game so in the end it's such a non-issue that I can't really care if people agree or disagree, or if Pervok feels butthurt because of my opinion.

I have said before and I still believe Pervok is very self-centered and quite a douchebag. He shouldn't charge anything for the development of hook5 for one simple reason: he's not only developing a mod for a commercial game (paid mods for Skyrim, anyone?), he's developing a mod for a PIRATED version of a commercial game. It's not even that it's a dollar. It could be one cent for all I care and I'd still find it baffling.
I have many other considerations about this issue and why I'm against it, but I think this is the biggest one.

The other considerations, which could be less important, are:

The game itself does run under Mint 17.3 with Wine 1.6.2, but you can't add Hook to it. The launcher will still run, and you can select your models and stages, but when you try to start the scene it will sit indefinitely at "Loading Models". Hook 3 and 4, anyway, I haven't tried Hook 1 or 2.

Basic things like body meshes and textures still do a lot to improve over the vanilla game (pic related is the Hook-less game running under Linux) but you can't get the pretty lighting effects and bump maps.

go into the Customizer, set up your character however you want, then click one of the other two faces (your other characters) at the bottom of the screen. When it switches to the other character, you'll see the mugshot of the first character updated. Everything (face, body, clothes, jewelry, etc) is saved in a folder in TheKlub17/Save/Models/

I see your point en I am in NO way defending Pervokpetr, but I can see why he did this. The paywall is to keep the plebs out from the development process. A private forum didn't work, because the unfinished product was leaked. And people started to bitch and moan about it having problems.

10% of the community, and this is just a percentage to elaborate my argument because maybe it's more or less than that, is comprised of really talented modders. They provide us with a metric shitton of content for free.

Because all this awesome shit is free, the rest becomes entitled. So if a moddes shows it of, a wave of "gimme" starts.

Also, everyone has different tastes. Moste of the plebs don't know the words "constructive feedback". They don't like it? It's shit.

Last nail in the coffin? This is 4chan. Normal is too vanilla here, weird and warped is the norm. Plus the garden aint a nice place to be as a modder either. EMXY and Kasha where pretty much driven off, other have set up tumblers and turned their backs on the site more and more.

Now it's one ore two great modders, a few "okay" ones and there. Meh?

I honestly wish there was a different site to go to to get some good mods for this game. But the garden is run by the modders/hackers/crackers that "made" the game. Membership is getting kinda mandatory.

I don't wanna shit on the garden, but sometime I wonder what the fuck is going on.

Look at me ranting again. Guh, I love the game, it's a great release for stress and can help convert frustration into creative energy. But it's such a chore to get all the mods you need and info as well.

I used to make some animations when Hook1 and 2 were the thing. Now Hook4 doesn't let me enjoy them so I mostly just pose now.
I'm in no way an expert, but I can say a couple of things I learned while doing the few animations I did.

One of 'em is to use either dxtory instead of Fraps or Shadowplay if you have an NVidia GPU.
Other thing is to move EVERYTHING, not just the obvious hip&hip action. People move a lot when doing anything, and specially having sex. Some subtle movements of other body parts (a slight twist of the body, slight shrugs, fingers, etc) will make the animation look more natural. Also move the feet, they mostly "hang" more than stay in place, specially in positions like the one of your post. Also, since we don't really have physics here, try to move the breasts when posing, so it has a somewhat more natural bounce.
Also I HIGHLY reccommend to use OrcaMod if you are going to make poses and animations often. It's almost mandatory at this point, specially if you want to have more options, like penis bend, feet bending, cum effects, etc.

well I'm a noob, take this advice with a grain of salt
For what I understood you have 3 level of fluidity
1. laggy
2. linear
3. fixed
and you can choose them by clicking on the little button next to the part you modified.
Laggy seems to be the most fluid ones, infact it influences the action even after the point where you defined it but it can be annoying if you are trying to make you character do exactly one action, like pointing the finger at the camera and so on.
So Linear and fixed can be handy. The first has the same effect of laggy but...less laggy :) the second one fixes the action. no matter what happens before or after it.
Another thing to point out is that little "wave" button that apparently does nothing.
if you press it and edit some limbs in a frame, this is affect the same limb in all the other frames (pretty useful if you want to edit every single frame), if you don't press it it will affect only that particular frame

as I said I'm pretty terrible at animation but hey
