Oh hi there, first time here, hope I'm doing it correctly
Today, the Brazilian nominated for best animation at the Academy Awards. It won several prizes world wide including best movie at AIAFF and Grand Prix at Animafest.
It was done entirely in 2D crayon/pencil/collages drawing. There is no dialogues but backward masking gibberish.
The story is hard to explain without spoilers, but you can sums up it as a little boy trying to find his father around cities and farmlands.

>>696757

I'll give it a try, thanks.
Caralho, não sabia disso. Thanks for the torrent and the support, Brazillian productions are pretty underated imo.
>>696825
>Brazillian productions are pretty underrated
Mostly suck. But this time we done it right. A little hope to the ones who want to get out of "Turma da Monica" monopoly
Also, a little chart for
>>696757
>>696875
Waltz with bashir is a recommended out of the list, great documentary and great storytelling in animation format.
Also from the list: Iron Giant, theif and cobbler, and heavy metal. Didn't know an american tail and the land before time was "experimental"
>>696881
it's not experimental, that word is meaningless and quite frankly, really pretentious
just a list of good animations that uses many techniques
>>696896
ahhh gotcha in that case gonna post heavy metal and also all of the movies that are on the picture (if i can find them all)
Heavy Metal

this one is 1080p (not sure if the upscale will be a yay or a nay).

Search Mind Game.

>>696702

>>698966
>paid to see a movie
Woah! You can do that?
>>696757
>nice thanks, got anymore "experimental" works like this?
Hmmm... in the same vein as >>696875, I would recommend just about everything by Ralph Bakshi, especially Fire and Ice and Wizards; lots of rotoscoping by hand! You could also watch Fritz the Cat and Coonskin (AKA "Streetfight"), but you won't likely get as much enjoyment out them.
In a more modern vein, I would suggest the anime Robot Carnival, Memories, and Genius Party.
Here's Wizards:

>>698989
Ohhhh dude fritz the cat was fucking stellar. Watched it when I was in middle school, didn't care about the tits but damn it was trippy
>>696702
it was nice, but that gay hippie be-ashamed-for-having-a-car political bullshit was totally unnecessary and pointless. could have been a nice story about a boy looking for his dad, but i guess the creators just couldn t resist kissing a few liberal asses in the process. but hey, that s what gets you the oscar, isnt it?
also, I recommend you watch it in 2x speed to make up for the low frame rate and the little slow development of the story.
nice one tho, thanks for sharing, OP!

The Lost Thing
Triplets of Belleville
The Illusionist
...get ready for them feels, bro
I'm giving you a bump, man. Can't believe this film got beat by yet another Pixar movie. Shameful. I'd be surprised if 10% of the people who voted in the category have even seen this film.
>>701776
Oscar are meaningless to animation anyway
The real deal is in the Annie Awards, and the feature is nominated on it as well
>>701776
Isn't pixar bought by Disney completly? The last time pixar made a movie was frozen then nothing
>>701802
You should study up on how much bullshit
Do with the animed movies
Most just say - they don't watch the animed nominations or they just say "my kid liked this movie i.e pixar or Disney movie". So really no one watches any of the DAMN MOVIES
WHICH IS TOTAL BULLSHIT
last years voters results

I can't find it. But the year with Frozen was the worst shit I've ever seen.

Only version of that movie anyone should watch.
>>703635
What the difference between this version and the original?
Saw it last week and it was very beautiful. I'm very lucky my cinema was still showing it.
>>703656
Between the actual release or the other Recobbled editions? If you mean between this and the other recobbled editions, I think there are a few more scenes added in. If you mean between this and the actual release, there are a bunch of them. The actual release had Richard Williams, the original creator, kicked off the project toward the end (so it was never finished to his satisfaction) and gave the "main" characters an internal dialogue that is incredibly annoying, when they were originally supposed to be silent. Which they are in this version. The story was sort of unchanged, but it was not as well done. See here for a better list: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Thief_and_the_Cobbler
Why does no one on /t/ ever add any media info to their posts?
Like what is the resolution of the film, what fucking language is it in? Does it have subtitles? What is the goddamn file size?
You can't all be possibly THIS lazy. Step up your game at least a little bit /t/.

I can highly recommend "The Man Who Planted Trees", it's a French watercolour-ish animation based on an old kids' book iirc. Terribly seeded, but trust me it's worth it

Kirikou and the Sorcerer is a French-African animation that's super fun and nicely made, though not as "experimental/underground".
