I saw Eli Manning at a grocery store in LA during the offseason. I introduced myself and said I was a big fan, and he said "who are you?" like he expected to know me from some place. I guess fans don't walk up to him all that often. I said I was just a huge giants fan and told him to stick it to the Cowgirls this year. He responded by saying "stick what to the cowgirls?" and then abruptly walked away. I ran into him later as I was waiting online to checkout my food; he was two people ahead of me. The only things he purchased were about 3 dozen individual beers. Not in six packs or anything, he grabbed 30-40 individual Bud Light cans off the shelf and carried them in hand baskets. I didn't even know they had that many in stock.

When the girl at the cash register took one of the beers and started scanning it multiple times, he stopped her and told her to scan each one individually so that none of the beers got "intercepted." He whispered the word "intercepted" like it would offend people if he said it too loudly. While scanning each of the beers, the girl accidentally dropped one, but before it hit the ground Eli leaned over the conveyor belt and miraculously managed to grab it. He calmly put it down on the belt, and then did a crotch-pump thing and shouted "COMEBACK" while glaring directly into the eye of the next person in line.

Time to throw just means how fast a QB gets rid of a ball I thought? Because 2 seconds seems like a very short amount of time.
>>
>>78250914
>>78250928
>Time to Throw
>We introduced time to throw data for the 2011 season, and it opened up an entirely new way of looking at the game. Initial instincts tell us that time to throw is a function of an offensive line’s ability to protect the quarterback, but we’ve found that it’s better used as an indicator of a quarterback’s style and a team’s offensive scheme.
>It’s no coincidence that pocket quarterbacks like Peyton Manning and Tom Brady consistently rank among the fastest releases in the league as they’re rightly touted for their quick decision making and ability to work within the flow of the offense, and their pocket stats back this up.
>On the other hand, some of the younger, more mobile quarterbacks in the league such as Cam Newton, Russell Wilson, Colin Kaepernick, and even Andrew Luck have much higher times to throw, and it’s not because they’re getting more time from their line, but moreso because they’re either looking to extend plays with their legs, trying to take more downfield shots, or some combination of both.
>There’s no right or wrong when it comes to time in the pocket, but it’s a great look at both what a quarterback and scheme are trying to do and each quarterback’s strengths and weaknesses when using a quick release or when given time to sit in the pocket.

tl;dr good pocket passers should half very low time to throw while meme qbs will have very high time to throw, carr would be considered a very good passer by the metric

>There have been plenty of overreactions to the Patriots' loss, but I'm keeping New England at No. 1 for now. This game was closer than the final score indicates, and this is a team with many new pieces still learning to play together.
>
>New England had an opportunity to put the Chiefs in a big hole early in the game had the team not been stopped on fourth down. Doing so in front of a rowdy crowd celebrating a Super Bowl win could have changed the game.
>
>This was the first of two un-Patriot-like failures on 4th-and-short. The second came with New England down 28-27. That too could have changed the game.
>
>The Patriots defense did a lot of positive things but did have some miscommunications, especially in the secondary. Tyreek Hill's long score came when newcomer Stephon Gilmore and safety Devin McCourty weren't on the same page. >These are issues that can be ironed out.
>
>The Patriots are still great. It just so happens the Chiefs are also a top team and managed to have the better game Thursday night. Both of these teams are legitimate contenders in the AFC.
>>
>>78251083
probably still texans or titans, I still expect their defense to cause problems but jags have to show me that their d-line can bring the heat against competent O-lines before I can seriously consider them a contender
>>
>>78251083
Houston and Indy are both cancer, not a chance either of them.
Jags looked good, but it was against the Texans, who were complete garbage. Meaning the Tits or Jags will break the streak.
Tits lost, but they played the Raiders and held up pretty nicely.
So probably the Tits if they can quit losing divisional games and Mariota can stay healthy, it will be embarrassing if they lose it to JAX
>>
>>78251083
Raiders fan calling the tits win the south. Good offensive line with a young, slow but steady improving QB. Good RB to get the short yards and a decent defense.

wow. hah the falcons are behind the packers and the seachickens, both teams they DISMANTLED in the postseason last year, and return nearly unchanged, and won in week 1. Hah. That is too dang funny. The pats in 1st is hilarious. Good thing you mentioned that you were a subpar qb, because you're a subpar analyst too.
>>
>>78251119
Your team is not making the playoffs, and you shouldn't have last year either, but you had quite possibly the worst schedule and the closest skin-of-your-teeth wins in the easiest of them.

Even with Tannehill this year, you would have been lucky to get 7 wins.

Did some more simulations, this time in bizarro Super Bowls, where each year's CCG (or AFLCG) losers played each other. 25 trials apiece, adjusted for stadium and weather. Median PPG determined the winner, and in the result of ties the team with most overall points won by 1 point. Here are the results from the first fifteen Bizarro Super Bowl sims:

>SB1
Cowboys over Bills, 12-7

Cowboys over Oilers, 15-14

Raiders over Browns, 23-22

They should have just forced Pagano to retire when he had cancer and kept Arians. They're wasting the most gifted QB of this decade because they're a horrible organization. The Colts would be by far the worst team since 2000 if they weren't gifted back to back franchise QBs

eagles have a real shot of winning the east or making a wild card spot
and if darby comes back in 6 weeks fully recovered that makes our defense that much better for the playoffs

So Jagfags made me do my homework on Yannick Ngakoue to see what he's all about and I noticed two things

>He absolutely sucked DICK in the run last year, dunno about this year
>His bend around the corner is Von Miller-tier

If he played in a 3-4 behind a good 3-4 end like Watt I'm not so sure he doesn't break some sort of record. He did this thing where he faked a bull rush causing Houston's tackle to lunge at him, and then he literally punches his arm away and limbos underneath him and strip sacks Savage.

If you just want to watch a guy who turns pass rushing into a chess match, watch Yannick Ngakoue. If you want to watch a guy play the run like a 7th string cornerback, also watch Yannick Ngakoue

Draft players that will be used to the best of their abilities in your team concepts and schemes, don't force people to adapt to you and take away their best strengths.

Because across the board the Titans had a better average grade across all positions. Total grade all together Cowboys were better, only because of their weakness at LG and RT did they have a lower average grade but without a doubt had the more dynamic line.

PFF does grades by stats and not film study and grading athleticism. Were the Cowboys are clearly better.
Pro bowl voting, AP voting, and other various outlets, coaches polls, and actual quotes by respected figures in football are why they are known to have that many top 5 players.

Why the fuck arent people watching?

Who gives a flying fuck if Kaepernick doesnt have a job? He fucking sucks. Who cares about concussions? These guys get paid more in one year than some people will make in a lifetime. When I watch the Cowboys it's a bunch of Mack trucks plowing into a parking lot and pushing every car out of its way. Explosive, athletic, and creates much bigger plays. Then every so often their second string left guard from last year or RT gave up a sack and got called for holding.

Cowboys will have a top 10 defense this year. You're gonna finally see what a fully functional Marinelli defense is supposed to look like.

Carr and Claiborne were never true fits for his scheme. They are physical corners and Marinelli was forced to call man coverage more than he likes to fit their strengths. He now has the proper personnel to run the Tampa 2, and even Eli attested to the fact that the Cowboys were running zone more often than last year and it was bothering him.

Prepare yourself NFL.

By contract, every team has to be on TNF once a year. To the NFL's credit, they've managed to put up some decent matchups this year, but yeah, Vikes/Browns is still on the schedule.

Zeke has never shown to have injury problems in his career, and generally makes good decisions to go out of bounds and avoid contact instead of trucking defenders for an extra meaningless 2-3 yards. Also the Cowboys noticeably limited his workload in the first game this year.

I see no reason to think he won't have a long career behind that Oline.

He skipped back because the ball had been knocked into an awkward position. If he had dived for it where it was, it would have ended up between his knees. After he shifted position he was in a better place to dive on it, but it had already been knocked away again.

Again, I think there are a lot of good reasons to criticize Cam, but this isn't one of them.
>>
>>78254386
They had 3 (Really 4 since the refs missed a call) sacks in the first game, and that was without Irving and Demontre Moore. D-Law in a contract year had a monster game, and Tapper was ultra productive in limited snaps which will surely gain him more playing time going forward. Paea and Maliek were both crashing the middle all night preventing Eli from stepping up in the pocket.

Cowboys were an alright 13th in sacks last year, and they racked up most of them in the latter half of the year. As much as the Giants O-line is maligned, 4 sacks would have been most times Eli was sacked in a game last year.

They probably won't have an elite edge rusher (unless Irving can step up), but they'll create decent pressure as a team, and Marinelli will no doubt have that sneaky Scandrick/Cheeto corner blitz in his back pocket to bust out from time to time.
>>
>>78254509
Easily Houston. Interesting that Hoyer is the best guy on both, though. I'm starting to think that he's a huge headcase/locker room cancer from the way he plays halfway decently, but no one wants to keep him.

>>
>>78254708
Tapper and Irving are the 2 guys I see with that potential, but until it happens, I wouldn't bank on it. Taco is useless, and I thought it was a bad pick when we made it. He severely lacks the speed to be an elite pass rusher. The only somewhat redeeming trait he seems to have is when he does manage to get to the QB, he's good at finishing the play unlike "Almost D-Law".

Irving and Tapper have the real potential to be elite, but I'm still gonna temper my expectations like I did with Jaylon and hope I'm pleasantly surprised.
>>
>>78254608
He does look for contact a little more than I'd like, but he didn't seem slow at all against the Giants. He didn't break any huge runs, but that's mostly because their defense is rock solid.

Again, I don't get where you're going here. Dude has zero injury history, is big enough to absorb plenty of contact, and lots of physical runners have had long, productive careers.

Way, way too early to say that. Also not sure who else you would have wanted there with Takk off the board (inb4 Watt, since he's a linebacker, not a 4-3 end) He had a good camp and preseason, and is part of a rotation. Probably not a super-high ceiling, but a pretty high floor.

I say it because I have never thought Taco was a good pick. I haven't "given up hope" on him because I never had hope in him in the first place. His bad performances are just confirming what I already thought.

Watching his college film, I was more impressed by other players on the Michigan defense, especially Jourdan Lewis who I'm glad we nabbed in the 3rd round. He's so painfully slow, and so many of his sacks were the result of great coverage or other D-lineman doing more work. Half the time he got a sack, the entire D-line was collapsing the O-line, and the one thing Taco does well is finish, so he was largely the benefactor of a lot of sacks where the QB was being forced near him. He was hardly ever the catalyst for pressure on the QB.

>>
>>78255031
I'm not saying Taco can't be utilized at all, but he's a diamond dozen rotation guy whom we already have a ton of like Mayowa. The Cowboys need somebody with elite potential, not another D-Law type with the ceiling of a complementary pass rusher.

Be honest, just based off what they proved they're capable of when healthy, is there any chance the vikings keep Bradford long-term and let Bridgewater walk?

Keep it mind how ironic it is that Bradford is a legitimate possibility because of "health reasons".
