Because pink is ugly.

In the past it was somewhat difficult to dye clothings, and of all the colours pink was the easiest to get (plenty of red stuff in nature), on the other hand blue was the hardest (hence is the colour of the Kings)
Aside from this, having a boy was the best sex a family could have, while a girl the worst.
Girls were given pink color, because no value, while cherished boys were given blue, most valuable.
That's why pink is still considered ugly by all standards.
