It was a quiet day in the heights surrounding the peaceful village of Platres.
A young sheperd was walking his ewes uphill ; he had trouble concentrating, as all his mind was focused on the upcoming Big Game. It was all he was able to think for the past week, all excited that he was to finally see his heroes shine. Igor "High Standard" de Carmenga the bull of Brussels, Boy "Waterboy" Waterman the Finisher of Famagouste, or Geórgios "Μέγας" Efrem the local legend.. As he was lost in his thoughts, the boy suddently heared a thundering noise that shook him to his bones and threw him to the ground. He stood up and looked around as the birds all flew away in unison. Nothing. What could hav-
>"ooooooooooos"
What was that he just heard?
>"nikooooooooooooos"
He turned around and saw his father, running at him screaming.
>"NIKOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOS"
>"Dad?", he muttered, scared. "Dad, it wasn't me, I didn't touch that sheep I-"
And suddently he saw. A white wave, seemingly a thousand feet high. No, this couldn't be happening!
He tried to flee, to fly like the birds. But soon he was covered by the shadow of this impossible force. He looked over his shoulder only to see his father getting swallowed by the wave.
>No.. it's going to get me... I have no chance...
Those were the last thoughts of Nikos Papadopoulos, sheperd by day and APOEL Nicosie supporter by night, as the blinding wave of light errazed Cyprus from the face of Earth. At least that's how the legend goes; the legend of what happened on this fateful night of Wednesday 13th of September 2017. Do you hear, APOEL? There will be no prisonners tonight. No mercy. No pause in the onslaught. So don't fight it. As you're being pummeled to the ground, let your eyes close and let death embrace you. You're a mere stepping stone. A sacrificial sheep.
