I hate to be an ancient history homer, but yeah GSP is still the best imho. Jon Jones is too dirty now unfortunately although fuck Steve Mazzagatti and Matt Hamill. Anderson Silva tarnished his career with those late losses, but is arguably the GOAT still in some circles. I never bought into Fedor's mystique because PRIDE was the original steroids-until-you-lactate freak fighting championship series. My point being is that GSP defeated prime Karo Parisyan and that loss undoubtedly fueled his spiral into drug abuse. Imagine being beaten by some j. random French-Canadian at your own game i.e. grappling/Judo, at your peak and then after having been defeated so badly you developed a substance abuse disorder (kind of facetious.) He lost to Matt Hughes, arguably the former GOAT welterweight, only to TKO the shit out of him and then verbally submit him the third time. He defeats Jason Mayhem Miller who was really slick on the ground and he fucking owned him essentially snuffing his career in the UFC. He made mincemeat of Sherk and Trigg. He defeated BJ Penn twice, also one of the greats that tarnished his career with later contests. Alves, Hendricks, Diaz, Condit, Koscheck (2x), Shields, Hardy, Serra (in revenge), et al. The only way he could've done it better is if he also defeated Story, Kampmann, Lytle, Johnson, Lawler and Swick, but they never got close enough to when he had the crown. He would've won anyway.
