OJ was completely innocent. without a doubt. if you knew the details of the case, you'd know that OJ didn't kill Nicole OR Ron.

Mark Fuhrman was a known racist who found the "evidence" at the crime scene and planted it AT oj's house. in other words, to FRAME oj.

OJ wasn't involved in any of it, and there's plenty of evidence that he was a victim of police fraud (because he's black) from a racist cop. OJ never killed anyone. he was found not guilty on BOTH COUNTS. the glove found at the crime scene didn't even FIT oj. how does that incriminate oj?

stay mad.
>>
>>78234315
At the time Mark Fuhrman supposedly planted evidence, he did not know-- nor did he have any way of knowing-- that OJ did not have a alibi for the time of the murder. If there was an alibi (and why the fuck wouldn't he), Fuhrman is caught easily and goes to jail.

Fuhrman was a racist fuck, but he didn't plant that evidence. I know this, because I know the details of the case. You read a Buzzfeed article.

Meanwhile, Nebraska has soldout every game since 1962, the longest sellout streak in the nation

>Jun 10, 2016 article:
"It’s a streak that’s lasted 54 years entering the 2016 season. It’s seen six Nebraska head football coaches
...
The longest active streaks behind Nebraska belongs to Notre Dame (249 games). Notre Dame would actually be closer to Nebraska if not for a Thanksgiving Day game in 1973, the school’s only football game to not sell out since 1966. But even if the Huskers’ streak did end today, it would take Notre Dame — estimating seven home games per season — until 2029 to surpass NU."

Complete list of Current Big 12 teams who have won more than one Big 12 title:
OU, Texas, KSU, Baylor. And Baylor is fucked.
>>
I hate what college football has become since the BCS. Can we just go back to the old ways of having your season and a bowl game? Who gives a shit about the Rose Bowl anymore? No one. It's the Natty or nothing and that, I think, will hurt CFB in the long run.
>>
>>78242011

>>78242011
Take out the Oklahoma schools and they're basically on about the same level as the American right now, maybe just a little better.

...And the fact the last few years it's been OU, OSU, and everyone else isn't going to help the conference's perception any if another school doesn't step it up soon. If/when it inevitably falls apart that could be one of the catalysts. Their success relative to the other 8 schools will be less "rising tide raises all boats" and more like a replay of the Big East 15 years ago when everyone was just waiting for Miami and VA Tech to bail.
>>
>>78242334
>since the Big 12 was created

So we all admit the Big 12 was a mistake.
>>
>>78242333
In the old days, teams were almost randomly selected for their bowl games, regardless of ranking. You'd get a #2 B1G champ playing a #14 Pac-10 champ, it was a stupid fucking system and we're glad it's dead.

The playoff, of course, was NOT the best possible answer, but that's what people bitched about and that's what we got. Personally I'd rather see P5's playing other P5's during the regular season, that would sort MOST of the confusion, but oh well, we get what we get.
>>
>>78242727
They're treading water right now, and it's wonderful. If OU loses to the Buckeyes last weekend, that's the nail in the coffin. But OU wins, so they tread water for another who-knows-how-long.

It's entirely possible OU loses elsewhere this year, but the way they have their stupid fucking title game, they'll likely have a rematch with the #2 team in the conference. Imagine if OU makes it to the final week 12-0, then drops the title game to an unranked OkSU team they had previously beaten.

Pottery.

Does USC have the easiest schedule of anyone in the Top 25?
>>
>>78243248
Okie here. Yes, the Big 12 was a marriage of convenience at best and a horrible mistake at worst. It also looks like it didn't really accomplish anything but is just serving to delay the inevitable by a generation.

The main reason there was that semi-merger between the Big 8 and SWC was because everyone saw the writing on the wall and figured putting them all together could stave it off. If you're old enough to remember the Big 8/SWC there were very real fears in the early 90s that they were about to get raided hard. The Pac-10 wanted Colorado and Texas. The Big Ten had their eyes on Missouri and Nebraska. The SEC already got Arkansas and was also chasing Texas A&M and Oklahoma. Colorado, Missouri, Nebraska, and A&M are all gone now and at this point I don't think anyone expects Oklahoma to stay.
>>
>>78243841
Yes, by a big margin
>>
>>78243841
Honestly the two hardest remaining games on their schedule are probably @Notre Dame and @Colorado and USC will undoubtedly be favored in both.

Colorado could MAYBE knock them off since they've always played USC tough in Boulder even when they sucked and they're probably a little better than Utah and on about the same level as UCLA. At the moment I still wouldn't bet on the Buffs winning that game though, but that might change if they knock off Washington.
>>
>>78241484

That's a little misleading. USC was by far the best team in the South in 2011 but sanctions put 6-6 UCLA in the CCG over 10-2 USC. They also beat both Pac 12 division champions last year but got screwed by drawing two good teams as their first two conference games of 2016 (Stanford, Utah). Both were on the road, Utah was on short rest after playing Stanford and USC was the only Pac 12 team last year to play their first two conference games on the road. Guess which two games cost USC the South last year.
>>
>>78243841

By that reasoning couldn't you argue they were lucky to not finish 6-3 in conference play since they caught Colorado without their starting QB and still JUST escaped? That game was tied in the 4th quarter and Montez wasn't exactly playing all that well in Liufau's place.
>>
>>78244274

That game wasn't as close as the final score. Fumbles kept USC from BTFO'ing Colorado and the game ended with USC taking a knee spitting distance from the Colorado end zone.

I played with and against a lot of USC players back in the early 2000's (Played with Lineart, Grootegoed, etc.) and had a brother play at Nebraska. I can tell you with absolute certainty that SoCal is full of shit-tier, fairweather fans. Going to any sort of sporting event down here is boring as shit. No one ACTUALLY legitimately loves the local teams (except for some diehard Dodger fans). They don't know how to generate a hostile environment for opposing teams. To them, local sports is 'just another thing to do' on the weekend. You may be right that Nebraska has less to do, but I guarantee you that the loyalty, integrity, and general knowledge of Nebraska fans far exceeds 99% of the USC fanbase.

The coliseum, even when it is near-capacity, is a joke of a home field advantage for USC. Fans are active for about the first drive and then quiet the rest of the game. Hell, they don't even generate noise when SC is on defense until 3rd down, and even then they wait until the opposing teams offense has broken the huddle and already lined-up. Sad.

I'm not arguing the old system was good. It wasn't. I'd take it back over the BCS or CFP any day though.

How does USC stop them?

USC cornerbacks Iman Marshall at 6-foot-1 and Jack Jones at 5-foot-11 will have their work cut out for them fighting off 6-foot-6 Johnson, as well as two other 6-foot-5 receivers in Dorian Leonard and Lil’Jordan Humphrey.

Texas WRs
6-6/220 - Collin Johnson (#9)
6-5/205 - Dorian Leonard (#8)
6-5/225 - Lil'Jordan Humphrey (#84)
6-1 185 - Reggie Hemphill (#17)
6-0 210 - Armanti Foreman (#3)
>USC coach Clay Helton: - “In Foreman, you’re looking at a speed guy. They like to do speed sweeps on the perimeter and he can push the field vertically,” Helton said.
>>
>>78245573

When the NCAA starts punishing other schools with the severity they punished USC, I will believe their sanctions for USC weren't disgustingly excessive. 30 lost scholarships, a 2 year bowl ban and vacated wins/title/Heisman is insane for one player who was ineligible because an agent bribed his stepdad to get Bush to leave for the NFL. There are schools doing far worse yet they get a slap on the wrist or nothing at all is done to them.

The other was against Maryland where they scored THREE non-offensive TDs.

You're right, people in Southern California are more special and don't have the same rules as everyone else. And definitely Pete Carroll didn't do anything wrong either, that's why we stayed a college coach.

Stay mad.
>>
>>78246146

Carroll didn't do anything, the NCAA spent five years investigating USC and they had nothing on Carroll. He wasn't hit with a show-cause and the NCAA's report says Carroll was innocent. The NCAA's entire basis for slamming USC is that "they should have known" what a player's family was doing with somebody not affiliated with the university, a standard they haven't used for anyone else.

2. how many of those MW/SBC/CUSA/ACC teams were really good
3. those were all great games, except for the WF/Temple game. Fuck Temple.
>>
>>78247614

Memphis and UCF had no excuse.

Houston and Temple lost their head coaches before the bowl, and Navy lost their QB in the conference championship game.

I don't buy the "Power 6" meme, but I do think the AAC is the strongest G5 conference, top to bottom.

If I had my druthers, I'd see the AAC balloon up to 16 teams and bring in some other noteworthy G5 schools, ie Marshall, Army, WKU, Southern Miss, etc. That would put them in the front of the pack for the access bowl every year, and it would be an exciting bunch of teams. They might not all operate at the GREATEST level of play, but the parity would make for entertaining matchups. Unlike Alabama and the 13 dwarfs over in the SEC.

But this is the timeline where college programs and conferences make awful decisions, so it'll never happen.

CFN Preview 2017: Is USC Going To Be Way, Way Overrated?
...
Be really, really, really careful assuming USC is about to take back its spot as one of the college football elites – at least this year.
...
the 2017 Trojans have a slew of issues that’ll be glossed over
...
The top two receivers are gone,..and most importantly, three All-Pac-12 blockers are done on a line that gave Darnold a whole lot of time to work.

The defense..doesn’t have a whole lot of star power, and it certainly doesn’t have a slew of sure-thing pass rushers on the line.

Realistic Worst Case Scenario: 8-4 season

I'm trying to argue that the AAC is better than 1 out of 5 of the P5 teams. The AAC is indeed still at a marked disadvantage because they are more likely to have their coaches hired away after the regular season (the Big 12 does not have this problem), and all those opponents were fucking good opponents, anon.

In 2016, the Big 12 went 4-2 in bowl games. Of those 4 wins, one was against a G5 (Baylor over Boise), the other three were KSU over an overrated TAMU team, Oklahoma State over an overrated Colorado team, and #7 Oklahoma over #14 Auburn. Only that last one is something to be proud of, and also do remember that #16 WVU, who shouldn't even be in your conference, lost to unranked Miami.

Just my $0.02 to this discussion as an AAC fan; I think the AAC is a top to bottom competitive conference than the Big XII. There's a lot of dead weight at the bottom of that conference.

Assuming the AAC team is having a good year, an AAC team could easily beat the bottom half of the Big XII. Your Memphis, Navy, UCF, Temple, etc. would all dominate Iowa State, Kansas, Baylor, et al.

However, I think that it would have to be an especially good AAC team, like a 2015-6 Houston, to challenge the top half of the Big XII (Oklahomas, WVU, K-State, TCU). The top of the Big XII is what earns the P5 status for the whole group.

NY6 don't mean as much now that there's the playoff. Boise State could make one and blow-out Wisconsin or somebody by 50 points, the headline the next day would still be about Bama gearing up for their first round playoff game.

They came, they played, they got paid. MAC's got a little more money to polish up the ol' rust belt, bow.

The fact that UH beat OU last year, and still finished with a handful of losses, should have ended this debate. But I guess this needs to happen consistently for this to be a thing, either that or the AAC champ needs to draw the Big 12 champ in a bowl game and win.

Houston was the classic meme team last year; they could show up for big games (OU, Louisville), but looked sloppy for no reason at games they should have dominated (Navy, SMU).

Houston did great ffrom 2015 to '16, but it'll take more than one team being good for 2 years before the AAC gets respect.

Hopefully the P5 conferences don't stop scheduling AAC teams.

>>78248426

>NY6 don't mean as much now that there's the playoff.

Maybe not, but it's what we have right now, and it's the biggest stage the G5 is guaranteed. If the G5 wants to maintain some semblance of parity, that game needs to be a lockdown.

>>78248539

Not true at all, the SEC, B1G, and ACC would still field competitive teams against the AAC starting at #6. The same is not true for the Big XII, or maybe even the PAC-12.

>Not true at all, the SEC, B1G, and ACC would still field competitive teams against the AAC starting at #6. The same is not true for the Big XII, or maybe even the PAC-12.

The Big 12 has 10 teams. Those other conferences have 14+ teams. It isn't rocket science the problem to identify the problem with your question.

Take out the top 9 teams in every conference and that leaves the Big 12 with the absolute worst team in their conference, while it leaves other conferences with only the 5th worst team in their conferences.

Cutting the top off of the Big 12 is obviously gonna exponentially hurt them faster the more teams you take away.
>>
>>78248647

>Cutting the top off of the Big 12 is obviously gonna exponentially hurt them faster the more teams you take away.

Regardless, my point still stands.

Maybe the Big XII should expand if they want to stay competitive top to bottom :^)
>>

>>

It won't expand because everyone in the conference is just waiting for it to blow up and dart elsewhere. It's a shotgun marriage right now.

That's why other conferences aren't adding more members either to get to 16. They're just waiting to poach the Big 12.

>>
>>78248738

Oh I know. We all know the Big XII is living on borrowed time.

Baylor, Iowa State, TCU, Texas Tech, K-State, and WVU: 4 of those teams are almost certainly AAC bound.

The upside? We might see 6 AQI conferences again with the influx of strength into the AAC.
>>
>>78248776

>The upside? We might see 6 AQI conferences again

I'm dumb, if the Big XII folds, it would still be 5 "Power" conferences...

But it's MUCH more likely that the top 4 conferences will settle in at 16 teams each and lock down the playoff for good from the mid-majors.
>>
>>78248776
Nah, it's gonna be Texas, TTU, OU, and OSU to the Pac 12, Kansas to the B10, Kansas State and either Baylor or TCU to the SEC, and WVU to the ACC.

You'll get Iowa State and the odd man out between Baylor or TCU.
>>
>>78248853

Toss in Army and Marshall, and that would be a pretty fun 16 team AAC. Not the highest level of play, surely, but good matchups and lots of history.
>>
>>78248853
>Texas, TTU, OU, and OSU
I'm willing to bet Texas goes independent if any conference tells them to take down the Longhorn Network. Tech seems along for the ride and the bundling of OU and Ok State complicates things for most conferences

>Kansas to the B1G
this would have been a good addition if Mizzou hadn't move to the SEC but it creates a 15-team conference and adds another pathetic football team to the B1G West

>Kansas State + Baylor/TCU to the SEC
I could see Kansas State over the Texas schools since they would expand the footprint, but I'm not sure if they'll be legally bundled with KU like the Oklahoma flagships at that point

>WVU to the ACC
never happening no matter how hard you try to argue for it, they're literally the most retarded P5 "school" in existence and until the Notre Dame membership situation resolves itself I seriously doubt the ACC tries to make a 15-team conference
>>
>>78248048
Whoever said Texas will destroy USC is retarded. That doesn't negate my post. Stop propping Texas up as some kind of great OOC achievement. That's like being proud of beating Arizona State.
>>
>>78248872
Rather what will probably happen instead of teams jumping to the AAC, is most of the AAC will jump to the Big 12 because you can cut the fat in the AAC and build a better conference by inviting the best teams in the other non-P5 conferences like Boise State, Colorado State, BYU etc...

The Big 12 will basically become the best of the rest.
>>
>>78248944
>never happening no matter how hard you try to argue for it, they're literally the most retarded P5 "school" in existence
You now remember that Louisville exists
>>
>>78248944

>I'm willing to bet Texas goes independent if any conference tells them to take down the Longhorn Network

I agree, but that's an awful idea. ESPN is hemorrhaging money, and the LHN is first on the chopping block. There is no way it gets renewed.

Texas would be in an awkward spot if they music stops and they've run out of chairs a few years after the Big XII has dissolved. It's not like they've had the kind of success lately that would convince anyone that Texas can make it on their own anyway.

Kansas' shooty hoops will get it into the B1G. Probably Iowa State too just to keep the footprint right, and because it brings the Iowa rivalry in conference.

The Oklahomas almost certainly will land in the SEC though.

>>78248994

I find that unlikely. I think the Big XII will simply cease to exist as an entity; there's no draw for schools to enter the conference if they lose their "AQI/Power/whatever we're calling it then" status, and the money isn't comparable.
>>
>>78248944
The Longhorn network is a complete and utter failure and Texas knows it. They're just waiting for the license with ESPN to run out.

The Big XII will be hobbled and low on cash at that point, there's no way it could rustle up the funds needed to buy out 4 or 5 teams from the MWC or AAC; and that's assuming there's even any reason for those schools to transfer at the time. If the Big XII gets a shitty media deal and loses its Power status, there's no reason for midmajor schools to shell out the exit fees in their current conferences for what would be a lateral move.
>>

sure over the course of 30 years, the teams with the most brand recognition will generally start the season highly-ranked by default. some years they'll live up to it, some years they won't. usc/texas/nd have huge brand recognition.

teams with no brand recognition: utah/boise that also ended up being good out of nowhere will be unranked to start seasons usually. this isn't rocket science.

They won't join because they would have to give up their network deal with NBC. That's why they are in the ACC for basketball but not football. The school makes bank because NBC wants to show all of their football games because normies like ND.

Why doesn't Notre Dame just join a conference already? They're gonna be screwed if they don't join one by the time the Big 12 explodes and the other 4 P5s go to 16 teams.

they're in the ACC for everything except hockey (left the East for the B1G this year) and football, and even then they've signed a contract for 5-ACC games at minimum each season until 2026

honestly every ACC team is currently building an in-house production studio, so even if ESPN survives all the cable cutters NBC could pick up the ACC Network like FOX did for the BTN and CBS does for SEC games. Might be a stretch but it's more likely if Texas gets blowback first due to holding onto the Longhorn Network

>loses to EMU to start the season.

Not a good look.

Besides, App State is already decades ahead of Charlotte. App State is an FCS blueblood and already a G5 force for be reckoned with in their few years of FBS.

I'm an ECU fan and I'm already sweating App State's newfound success.

UNC - Charlotte Community College for Commuters, however, is and always will be irrelevant.
>>

EMU was 0-53 all time against P5 opponents before this year. If they can suddenly go to their second-ever bowl game in 2016, and beat Rutgers last week, anything is possible.

USC vs Illinois game. Who wins?
>>
>>78263387
Yeah, after the excitement wears off you can indeed get some shit games in weeks 3-4. Last year I see they were at Tennessee twice in three weeks, and the year before that they were at Ole Miss early in the season. If I were anyone on that crew, I'd have killed myself.

Having said that, respectable candidates for this week would have been:
--at FSU (playing NCSt, tho i guess they were just there?)
--at Virginia Tech (playing ODU. in-state rivalry?)
--at (9) OkState (facing (20) TCU!)
--at (19) Stanford (playing (25) UCLA)

Or for the fun of it, plenty of G5 schools have great games that week:
--Houston (hosting Texas Tech, would've made a great post-Harvey story)
--Maryland (just beat UT, hosting UCF)
--Air Force (1-0) facing 2-0 SDSU

... plus it wouldn't have killed them to try and squeeze in UAB this season, or NDSU at anytime.

They just lazy.
>>
>>78263633
you mean USF?
Illinois is god awful no way do they win
>>
>>78263689
None of those have the marketing potential that New York City and Times Square has

Besides FSU and NC State both have a lose
Old Dominion isn't the 2nd best team in the state (James Madison is)
Stanford looked bad last week and I'm pretty confident that UCLA will lose to Memphis
Beating Texas isn't that noteworthy anymore
Air Force will be 1-1
North Dakota State lost its appeal by not being the defending fcs champs
UAB is on the road

Now TCU @ OK State will be ranked but it's still a meh matchup
Plus Stillwater will be the favorite to host for Bedlam if the Pokes are still undefeated

The 8pm ABC game is Penn State @ Iowa which is pretty meh too
