SD citizens within downtown had the option to pay for the stadium via hotel tax increase a deal very similar to the Vegas tax that was passed to fund the raider stadium

Literally no resident would have to suffer a tax increase but their family from outside renting a room at our hotels would pay an extra ...10 cents per room and maybe a little more for other stuff

Citizens that live in the city , not the county , rejected that

The hotel tax wouldn't have even covered the parking lot. All these deals start out that way and they all end the same way: the money pool runs out instantly and the massive overruns come out of your pocket. Even a cursory google search would have told you this. Think before you shitpost.

I researched a bit because I did a dumb paper on it for my class

Turns out Vegas casinos spend massive amounts of their money on their surrounding areas + donating to some projects(mgm Detroit recycling and soon the Springfield mgm thing)
While hotels here don't really do that they still help the city by donating some cash to projects here and there

In Vegas it is actually a argument used against the funding of the stadium but apparently CCSD in Vegas is one of the worse school districts in America and the main reason why is because of money managements and hiring as much principals and vice principals as teachers.
In short that money wouldn't have been used wisely and the recent retirement of their leaders proved that.
