It will happen in the case of independence whether Barcelona likes it or not, especially as they're seen as THE Catalan team, so they'd be the last ones to want to be seen as traitors. And Catalans definitely wouldn't want there not to be a league of their own if they became independent.

You are confusing the Crown of Aragon with Catalonia and "catalan-speaker" regions.

Catalan political independence/sovereignty doesn't mean a Catalan league would necessarily follow.

More interesting is the issue of the Catalan football team. It already exists, but it's not an independently Fifa recognised team. In recent years, vital members of Spain's Euro's and WC winning teams have been Catalan; Puyol, Iniesta, Xavi, Busquets, Cesc, Pique.

If a separate Catalan side is set up, it causes issues about which team these guys play for, and that's where the real talent drain happens.
