>Boring = thinking mans sport

American football is likely in the top IQ. There are so many rules and small nuances of the rules along with all the complex formations on all 3 sets of teams (Offense, defense, special teams) to really know what you're watching/following. Football was mostly a mans sport before they nerfed it an made it family friendly.

Soccer is probably at the bottom, all it is, is kicking a ball back and forth on a over sized field.
>>
>>78123322
The Super Bowl is the only game that matters so why would I waste my time watching the "regular season" (i.e. a playoff seeding tournament). NFL should switch to a round robin tournament format and get rid of the playoffs entirely.
>>
>>78123322
as long as the superbowl keeps increasing theyll be fine
>>
>>78123703
Oh wait, did you mean ratings?
>According to Nielsen data, the Patriots-Chiefs game averaged a 14.6 rating in metered market households. That is down approximately 12% from the 2016 game, which drew a 16.5 rating. This is also the second year in a row the opening game has been down, with 2016 slipping from the 17.7 rating drawn in 2015. The drop comes as ratings for NFL football were down last season to the tune of 8% per game on average.

Baseball is dull as fuck. Sure there are plenty of stats but they mean nothing to the fans or players, just the head office. Literally the only thought from players and casual fans is throw ball catch ball hit ball. Players barely even interact. It's a simpletons game desu
>>
>>78123751
Nice argument, friend. Next time I'd ask you to please moderate your language, however.
>>
>>78123714
The beautiful thing about football is its both complex but still enjoyable to watch for the casual fans because of how quick and physical the sport is. Unlike baseball were you sit there watching nothing for most of the game
>>
>>78123714
>thinking rules equate to intelligence.

American football consists of giving each other brain damage over and over again. Playing it literally makes you objectively stupider.

Baseball isn't going anywhere anytime soon. Neither is NFL for that matter.
>>

>the nfl isn't as fun to watch anymore because of rule changes and no fun league

>>
>>78123992
What you just did there--that's called a non-sequitor. How large the athletes are has nothing to do with the skill involved in the game.
>>
>>78124002
I can only watch NFL when my team is playing, and even then it is a chore these days. The inconsistencies of the rules and how they are applied by the shitty refs is a major annoyance, along with rampant advertising.
>>
>>78123406
>what sport has the lowest IQ for its viewers?
In America its nba. Worldwide its soccer
>>
>>78123992
Oh NFL players are no doubt some of the best athletes, but being a good athlete doesn't make you smart at all. The sport actually makes you stupid. Playing it at any level will make you stupider because of the nature of the sport. Most NFL fans played in high school or college or in a local rec league. If you've played it, you likely lost brain cells from it.

No doubt they're incredible athletes though.

>>
>>78123997
But pursuit of education does directly correlate with intelligence. Extremely smart people do not call it good after a high school diploma.
>>
>>78124153
Even if this theoretical smart person can make millions and gain incredible fame just by playing a low-risk game? I don't buy it.
>>
>>78124124
It depends on the position. Most QBs and centers are really smart but shit like nose tackles and fullbacks are basically retard tier.
>>
>>78124089
It's actually almost certainly not soccer. Soccer is the most popular sport in the world and as such likely has the biggest deviation of IQ's, and as such falls right around the international average for IQ's, meaning normal intelligence. American Football on the other hand is comprised mostly of people who have played it in the past. Seeing how playing American football is associated with brain damage and loss of brain cells, it is likely the lowest average IQ
>>
>>78124151
Read any of the scientific studies on the matter. It isn't media bias if the stats aren't lying.
>>
>>78124225
soccer is for poorfags and they also have serious brain issues from heading the ball
>>
>>78124089
NFL fans must have the most brain damage per capita of any sport in the world. If you doubt me, just talk to one.
>>
>>78124240
are these the same "scientists" who told me that Manhattan would fall into the ocean by 2015?
>>
>>78124168
The number of highly intelligent people who do that is bound to be absolutely miniscule especially compared to the ultra smart people who decided to pursue higher education in any number of other things and make themselves filthy rich that way instead. The likelihood of going pro is also staggeringly low and as such no truly smart person would risk that over pursuing education if their end goal was making money.
>>
>>78124272
people who talk about Nostradamus on history channel aren't scientists
>>
>>78124219
Even QB's get knocked around though. You're definitely right though. QB's definitely have to be the smartest people on the field.

>>
>>78124313

>>
>>78124249
Just saying its a poor mans sport doesn't make my statement any less true. Its still the most popular sport in the world and thus the most likely to have an average distribution of intelligence.
>>
>>78124330
also you need one guy on defense usually a MLB or Safety

Probably best suited for museums at this point. Kids will one day look at the weird uniforms, hear about the strange traditions, and ask, "Why did people do all that, Dad?" "Well, son, nobody really knows anymore. All the people that played or enjoyed it passed away a long, long time ago."
>>
>>78124294
>using so many adjectives to enhance your point
It's simple: IQ is a heritable trait, not an environmental one. Higher education cannot affect IQ.
What you're really arguing is that high IQ is a predictor of success in education. That is obvious. What isn't obvious is if IQ has a role in an athletes choice between education and a sports career.
There's never been a study done of this so there is no point in you continuing to argue it.

>>
I don't even know why people try to go by TV ratings anymore when we all know a growing amount of the population don't have Neilson boxes to begin with, and that they are also moving on to online streaming and dropping cable.

Like when everyone shit a brick over superbowl TV ratings it's like everyone forgot about the NFL streaming apps that have been shoved down our throats for the last few years that obviously don't go towards ratings counts.
>>

The NFL wasn't holding openers on Thursdays in 2009. Of course Sunday games will get more viewers than Thursday games. SI is fake news.
>>
>>78124521
If the anthem protests were actually hurting ratings, we probably wouldn't have real time butthurt tweets and #1 trending topics every single fucking time someone takes a knee or sits. Rather, it seems like more people are tuning in and following what's going on in the league just so they can complain about it. I've never seen this much talk about the league before desu.

What's actually hurting TV views is streaming, but streaming as most people do it (through the app, or by watching RedZone) isn't even hurting the league. They're likely getting their pockets lined directly from paying viewers instead of having the cable networks play the middle man.

>>78124427

Good job to you for sticking to your point and not getting sidetracked. However, if we believe IQ is genetic then I'm not prepared to just agree that a league with an over abundance of Latinos who never finished high school are extremely intelligent as a whole. And yes, while college may not have an effect on IQ (I'm in the camp of thinking it doesn't either), there is an implication of never receiving a good education during your younger years which a lot of immigrant players haven't. IQ is deterministic but you still need education growing up to reach your theoretical max capacity. Otherwise the studies of kids who were abandoned in the woods when they were young would come out geniuses after time to reintegrate instead of continuing to be bumbling retards.

Pro wrestling isn't really a sport, but they are by far the lowest rung on the ladder. Advertisers consider wrestling fans to be even below Nascar fans, who are considered to be the bottom tier of actual sports viewers. So Nascar fans are probably the most low IQ, at least in the US.
World wide, probably soccer. Every starving 3rd world peasant in the world is a fan of soccer, and there are clear causal links between malnutrition and low IQ.
