Ali was a much better heavyweight than Tyson in terms of all-time ranking and just generally as a fighter. But I totally agree that Tyson would have probably fucked Ali up if they existed within the same era. Ali was an outside fighter who naturally had trouble with inside fighters, like Joe Frazier. People underestimate just how good Cus D'Amato was as Tyson's trainer. If D'amato doesn't train Tyson, Ali would have crushed Tyson. With D'Amato, the fight is pretty close.

Remember that, among many other qualities, Ali was a very powerful puncher, and Tyson could not just duck and get in, because in spite of being an enraged madman he would feel the power of Ali's shots.

daily reminder that Tyson only fought taxi drivers and any good fighters he faced were like 50 years old. But even if we imagine he faught in his prime, which was about 6 days long, he lacked so much in what makes a great fighter. He had less stamina, less mental strength, was shorter and didn't have that great of a chin. He would land quite a few hard shots because of his speed and power, but Ali can take it since he has one of the greatest chins in boxing history.

Foreman hits WAY harder and his whole game is built around throwing devastating shots to those shorter than him. His best weapon was using mommy defence to smother incomming shots then paw away the hands and land hard uppercuts and straights as they turned (a bit of holding the back of the neck to make them stay still doesn't hurt either since if you get the KO no one gives a shit).
