The problem is that Shaq was mostly lazy and rarely properly motivated. And it's hard to tell how much of his decline after 06 was due to changing defensive schemes, and how much of that was due to him being in his mid-30s with over 33k minutes played in his career.

I agree that if he played now he wouldn't be as dominant as he was then. But he would still be a top-5 player in the league and a perennial MVP candidate, if we're talking about truly prime Shaq, 99-03 Shaq, and if we're talking about him being motivated and locked in. If he was in the league today, he would be on the same level as Bron, Durant, and Kawhi. He was just so skilled and so tremendously physically overpowering.

Draymond could maybe slow him down with positioning and they could double him to limit his scoring. That's what Rodman did against him and had some success, but on the other hand, Rodman was going up against Shaq before he hit his real peak. I don't know.

I love Wilt and he's no doubt one of the all-time greats, one of the best centers to ever play the game, tremendously skilled, would be a top-3 center in any era, an amazing player and physical freak.

BUT when you start talking about all-time GOAT, and you compare him to Kareem or MJ or Lebron, the fact of the matter is that the competition was weaker during Wilt's career, especially the earlier part of his career during the 60s when he was most dominant.
