it is a bit strange

i feel like the population of india is quite poor in general, especially in the south i think. lots of kids running around not doing much, surely. they also have a long history with the brits, who love football. so why don't they play football? all it takes is a ball and a flat field to play on. why aren't they like the south american favela kids? why play cricket (which i am sure they got from the brits, but apparently not the football), which demands more equipment. do poor indians play cricket instead of kicking some leather ball around?
