it's so weird watching these kids run, they look like they're moving well and pretty fast but it takes them so long to get between bases, they definitely take several more strides between bags than the average big leaguer. Guess you don't really realize how good of athletes most MLB players are. These kids are quite a bit shorter than an average MLB player also, though that doesn't matter for speed all that much really

the point i made yesterday to the Denny's lover yesterday was that "fresh" doesnt mean anything here. a fresh pitcher can still fail and they regularly do as they're getting into the zone. and its not like the pitcher is the entire defense like in the MLB. you want to keep your players in good condition to make it to the end of the tournament? you better have them all supporting one another, pitch to contact, solid fielding. errors are the true enemy here not exhaustion.
an exhausted player in the zone > a fresh player thinking too much.

well sure anyone can have a bad day, but it's certainly less likely that a fresh ace will fuck up than an exhausted backup starter, especially after the first couple batters when he might still be dusting off the cobwebs.

and there shouldn't be any real difference in stuff one day to the next. Pitchers don't pitch in consecutive days anywhere else because they know that eventually their arms will break down, but until it does there wouldn't be a noticeable difference in stuff one day to the next, it would probably take several days for real physical problems to pop up, at which point they just can't pitch anymore probably. But most of these kids probably don't give a fuck about their arms, this is Koshien it's all they live for in baseball, most of these kids even the aces aren't going to make a living off baseball in the future.

The effects of exhaustion will start to show up sooner every game but at the beginning of each outing he really shouldn't have much problem. Like you saw Bumgarner in 2014 or Kershaw last season throw a start then come back two days later out of the bullpen, they can do it, their stuff is still there, it's just not recommended for the long term.

Plus also teams aren't retarded anymore, they're trying to protect their pitchers at least a little bit, a lot of the aces have been used more as relievers that only come in when if they're really needed or as starters but taking them out if the game is well in hand.
