Anyone here /archery/?
I've actually been thinking about getting into archery, looks like a neat skill to have
fatlarp is not a sport

it's very fun when you get the hang of it, especially when you get into long ranges.

would you advice getting some training first or just buy a bow and practice trough trial and error?

Training first. You could hurt your shoulder and/or back muscles if you pick up a bow with a heavy draw weight.

definitely get some training, i did and they lent me a high-range bow from the get go, which is a huge plus. if it's not for you then no sweat about the bow. also you'll have some guy telling you what you're doing wrong obviously.

OP here. I've only taken a class at my uni but I like it enough that I'm trying to start a club for it.

But some of the "field" shit is?

Yeah, I can kinda naturally shoot from 10 yards and get em all in the yellow. It feels good to have the basic form down.
