I legitimately remember people locally being pissed that the Hawks didn't draft Dalton. I remember hearing one guy on the radio compare it to the 1991 draft where Chuck Knox wanted to draft Favre in the first round, but the ownership veto'd him and they picked Dan McGwire instead. He actually thought Dalton was going to be the next Favre and win multiple super bowls for the Bengals.

really dodged a bullet there.

One season being better doesnt delegitimize every season where Brees outperfrmed Ryan including actually winning a Super Bowl.

As for who to put over Dak and Mariota, how about a QB thats actually played more than 1 season for Dak and a QB who can play a full season without getting injured for Mariota.

Brees has been subpar for years, jacking up stats in losing efforts. He is a domebabby and only gets so many yards and TDs because all he does is pass. This is a fact.

Also those are meme reasons. Who cares if you're a rookie if you're good? You haven't given any names in their place.

>>77651694
They're very similar QBs but Dak had a better OL, and better WRs. I'd put Mariota over him because Dak is a product of the running game in Dallas.

what is a fluke is the 4 post season loses that happened on the last play of the game after Rodgers offense gained the lead or tied

something that the patriots defense only allowed once in Brady's postseason career

Brees has been elite on a team with a shitty defense for years. The reason why all they do is pass is because the defense gives up 30 points by halftime. He just put up over 5000 yards AGAIN and averaged 30 points a game on a team that went 7-9, cmon guy.

If Dak had some kind of super spectacular rookie season I can see putting him in the top 10, but he didnt. If you actually watch any cowboys game from last year, Dak wasnt doing anything special. He was doing exactly what he needed to do and nothing more, everytime all the pressure was actually on him, he came up short. He was Basically doing what Smith was doing, but better. Which isnt bad by any means, buts its not top 10 worthy at all. As for Mariota, being healthy is a legitimate concern for a QB. It doesnt matter if youre able to win 14 games if you are only going to play 8.

Rivers, Eli, Stafford, Cam and Luck are all better to put in the top 10 then those 2.

>If you actually watch any cowboys game from last year, Dak wasnt doing anything special.
Yeah he was. Dak was credited many times by many analysts as playing very well for a rookie. He didn't even look like a rookie or make any rookie type of mistakes or had any visible shortcomings. Dak had a spectacular rookie year it's why he broke a rookie record as well as win RoTY and was an MVP candidate.
>everytime all the pressure was actually on him, he came up short
Except in the playoffs when it was all on his shoulders and he almost won the game.

The only reason people shrug off Daks excellent rookie performance is because he happened to have good pieces around him which is stupid to dismiss him for that. Dak played incredible and looked in no way like a rookie.

Rob Gronkowski. It's a generic answer sure, but I think it's the right one. He is large enough to have leverage to hold some sort of offensive line, and three or four receiver sets with all of them being Gronk would be plainly unfair. I guess his decisions under pressure as QB could be rough, but he allegedly has a pretty good football IQ.

Dak Prescott was a top 5 QB last year and this hurts people on /nfl/ to the very core but other well adjusted football fans do not feel such a pain from hearing this and generally agree.

>hurr you need to play on a bad team to be proven

No, this is the cancerous view point of someone that's been routing for a shitty team and a shitty QB on that shit team for years thinking that's how it's supposed to be. Tom Brady never played on a shit team, so he's not proven?
Cowboys were just 4-12 the year before with pretty much the same team but a different QB and Zeke didn't get good until his 3rd game, Dak was good from the beginning plus pre season and was more consistent, whenever the Cowboys run game go stopped Dak was still good, when their passing game was slowed down, like against the Vikings and Giants second game, he still made big plays regardless of Zeke, who had trouble in all those games. Only game Dak truly struggled the Eagles game, still lead a 4th qt comeback, won in OT. And during the playoffs the Cowboys went full passing offense and Dak was playing absolutely amazing.
>>
>>
>>77652148
>He didn't even look like a rookie or make any rookie type of mistakes or had any visible shortcomings
Youre absolutely right and if it was a list of top 10 rookie seasons of the decade, hed be at the top, but cant say hes better than QBs who have actually proven themselves just yet, give it a few more years. I don't blame him for that loss against the Packers in his first playoff game against a monster like Rodgers (if anything his performance makes doubt what I'm saying) what I did notice was throughout the season there would be plenty of times where it looks like maybe they won't win the game, or wont win as easy as they should, and Dak will be in situations where he could put the game away early or not be down in the first place, and hed come up short. The Cowboys would go on to win those games because the team around Dak was good and Dak wouldnt make any rookie mistakes, but because of that those shortcomings go unnoticed. The reason why he's hyped up by many analysts is because he's playing as if he was in the league for 4 years and has incredible potential to be an Elite QB. The thing is though, a lot of people confuse potential eliteness with actual eliteness and since the wins matched up, the hype train kept going.

It's like, Dak knows how to not lose, but he doesn't know how to win, if that makes any sense.

Also if you notice, I didn't bring up the pieces around him in my original post because any other rookie would still look like a rookie with that setup.

he other day, I was talking with a friend about Tom Brady. And here’s what he said:
“I think he probably did something, but the whole thing was stupid.”
At the time, I sort of shrugged it off. I mean, for one thing, he’s right: The whole thing was stupid. For another, I’m no Tom Brady fan. What do I care?
But as time has gone on, I realized that I should have said something else:
I think Tom Brady is unequivocally, unambiguously, thoroughly and 100-percent innocent of any and all charges of deflating footballs in a cheating capacity. I don’t think he ever asked anyone to illegally deflate footballs. I don’t think he wanted footballs inflated below NFL standards. I think the whole thing — every last page of the testimony, every last leak to the media, every text made public, every curious statistic like the one showing the Patriots fumbled less than other teams and every blunder Brady made along the way, like his awkward press conference and the destruction of his phone — was a bunch of phony-baloney nonsense that was either directly or indirectly inspired by a made-up NFL witch hunt. I think he’s entirely innocent.
And let me say two more things:
1. As mentioned, I don’t particularly like Tom Brady, and I have no affinity whatsoever for the Patriots.
So why do I believe Tom Brady is unequivocally, unambiguously, thoroughly and 100-percent innocent of any and all charges of deflating footballs?
Because: The NFL spent millions of dollars in a ludicrous star-chamber investigation and, even with that, did not come close to proving it. Not even close. If this was a court of law and the NFL had presented that silly, convoluted, scientifically-challenged case of hearsay and bluster, the jury would have voted “not guilty” before lunch. And the judge would have wondered why everyone’s time needed to be wasted.

This situation would have been brought to a quick close if the League had even a general awareness of the scientific impact of temperature and weather conditions on the PSI of footballs at the time of the AFC Championship Game. Prompt correction of misinformation leaked by the League would have allowed knowledgeable and objective people to assess the numbers and minimize the media frenzy and public furor. For reasons still unknown, the League and its lawyers refused to release the accurate information for months, doing so only in the context of a report which based its conclusions primarily on dubious interpretations of ambiguous texts. The Wells Report is written more as a piece of advocacy trying to support its predetermined conclusions than as an independent and dispassionate review of all the facts. The League’s lawyers have refused to produce their interview notes, their communications with Exponent, or the extent of the edits by the League’s General Counsel to drafts of the Wells Report. The League has also refused to provide the PSI data it collected during the 2015 “random spot checks.” If properly performed, those checks undoubtedly confirm that numerous games are played with below-regulation footballs due to the impact of weather conditions on footballs. The integrity of the League is of vital importance. One can only wonder if it has been seriously compromised by the League’s lack of transparency and what appears to be an ongoing effort to defend, rather than critically assess, the dubious conclusions and methodology of the Wells and Exponent Reports.

In the years where they didn't follow the cap rules, the Broncos' top player, quarterback John Elway, was paid around 5.4% of the legal cap space, which was 1.2% less than the next closest team. Even more telling, Elway’s cap charges in the Broncos' 1997 and 1998 Super Bowl seasons were just $2.1 and $2.6 million respectively. By comparison Miami Dolphins quarterback Dan Marino, who would be the most logical comparison, had cap charges of $4.3 and $7.6 million. The implication is that Elway took a relatively low cap hit, but received outside-the-cap funds to compensate for that.
The Broncos explanation for this infraction goes something like this: owner Pat Bowlen was trying to build a new stadium for the Broncos and was short on cash. So, he asked Elway and running back Terrell Davis to forfeit some of their paycheck now and in return he would pay them back plus interest after the season.
They like to refer to this cheat as their little accounting snafu. Their accounting excuse doesn't matter, however, only the fundamental integrity of the game does. A rule is a rule and you can't chose to break it because something comes up. That is clear-cut cheating which is why they were penalized so heavily by the league for it.
The Broncos were fined on two separate occasions for salary cap shenanigans between 1996 and 1998. The first punishments were announced in 2001 and the second in 2004. Their fines totaled a staggering $1,918,000 and they lost a total of two third-round draft picks.

It is more probable than not that the Broncos got a significant competitive advantage (real or potential) from this rule breaking. The entire league followed the salary cap rules during those years and the Broncos did not. They also happened to win the Super Bowl twice during those compromised years. If a Super Bowl can be tainted by a cheating scandal, then these two are pretty high up the line.

It was discovered prior to the 2011 season that the New Orleans Saints were running a bounty program for big hits and injuries to opposing players. The program ran for a three-year period from 2009 to 2011, which included their 2009 Super Bowl championship team. At the center of the scandal were defensive coordinator Gregg Williams, who was accused of running the program with the knowledge of head coach Sean Payton, assistant coach Joe Vitt and general manager Mickey Loomis.
Bounty programs, in which players are offered money to injure players from the opposing team, have been in the league for many years. Recent attention to player safety, however, has led the NFL to discourage teams from employing the practice. It is widely believed that NFL commissioner and former Jets public relations intern Roger Goodell used the harsh and oversized penalties for this typical and common bounty program -- much like he did to the Patriots with their typical and common videotaping practices -- to send a bold message to all 32 NFL teams to stop using similar programs.
Although the Saints' bounty program rewarded players for big hits and injuries, between 2009 and 2011 (the stated period that the program ran) the Saints had far fewer actual fined penalties and suspensions than the average NFL team. The program was wrong and immoral, but luckily NFL officials didn't see it fully play out on the field as well as it played out in the news media or from the commissioners podium.
The initial penalties by the league: Williams, Payton and linebacker Jonathan Vilma were suspended for the entire 2011 season, while Loomis, Vitt and three other players drew multi-game suspensions. The Saints were fined $500,000 and stripped of two draft picks.

>Ralph Wilson and WCF die within a span of months
>Bills stadium gets snowed in
>Lions spot them their stadium for a win
>Bills buy the Lions wings and pizza as grattitude
>both teams have little to no success

Face it. No two teams will ever form a more brolike bond.

God you miserable fucking tard can you please shut the fuck up about shit you clearly don't know shit about? It's common consensus that the cowboys didn't have to lean on Dak Prescott that much his rookie year because he had the perfect situation around him to be successful. All he had to do was not turn the ball over and not personally lose them any games and he did just fine at that. This year is going to be different. The whole team is going to be on his shoulders now with Zeke gone for half the year and the oline and defense a little banged up.

He has a much taller mountain to climb this year to prove himself is all I was saying before you had to flip the fuck out.

And no, you're wrong, he had his fair share of poor games. You clearly don't remember the Giants sweeping the Cowboys and Dak failing to throw a single touchdown in either game. In fact, he rarely eclipsed 300 yards passing last year so would you kindly crawl right out of Jerry Jones asshole

In 2011, the Colts were accused of intentionally losing games to earn the first pick in the 2012 NFL draft so they could select star Stanford quarterback Andrew Luck. Fans of the Colts dubbed it the "Suck for Luck" campaign. Fans of competitive integrity called it blatant and ham-handed cheating.
The "No They Didn't" side defends against the charge by noting that the NFL has non-guaranteed contracts and players who lose on purpose risk losing millions of dollars off their current and future contracts. Backing this theory up, the Colts head coach in 2011 -- Jim Caldwell -- was fired after the 2-14 "Suck For Luck" season. As well, the Nopers say, when Manning got hurt all the Colts had was backup quarterback Curtis Painter and because Manning hogged all of the practice snaps, Painter had very little experience. Because of this, they were forced to bring in the retired (and mediocre) Kerry Collins because that's all they could get from the free agent pool.
The "Yes They Did" side counters by saying that Colts players could play to their full potential, but if the coaches were calling bad plays, and management was not making the best trades or free agent moves, then the team could still lose without the knowledge or participation from the individual players. The Yessers give as an example that the Colts knew they were screwed after Manning's injury. They could have picked up a much better veteran free agent quarterback to make them competitive. However, Colts owner Jim Irsay knew that -- although they might become competitive -- they would be longshots to make the playoffs. He definitely knew that acquiring a better quarterback than Collins would blow their chances of drafting Luck, so he bit the bullet for one season and quietly allowed Suck For Luck to play out on the field.

As Colts reporter fan Doyel proclaimed, "perception is reality" and the perception around the league is that "Suck For Luck" was a thing.

Spygate was nothing
Lets get this out of the way first -Bill Belichick and the Patriots broke the rules. There is no disputing that. They were punished for it.
Yes, I’m trying to put this all behind me, but I think it’s important to review just how disgraceful the behaviour of national media was during this whole episode, and attempt to put as much of it on the record as I can here.
Yes, disgraceful.
I suppose it shouldn’t be too much of a surprise given the news/sports climate in which we live, one that is dominated by sensationalism, exaggeration, rush to judgement and opinion. But things really got out of hand with this one. Let’s review a few of the ways:
The myopic media have chosen to focus solely on the sensationalistic aspects of this case, right from the beginning.
Whether or not this was really a major rules violation that garnered a significant advantage is not the point. THE NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS CHEATED AND ALL THEIR CHAMPIONSHIPS ARE NOW TAINTED. That’s the message that has been sent out, and that which has been pounded repeatedly into the conscious of the American public.
The implication has been that the taping of signals is the golden lamp which when rubbed, automatically ensures victory. They insist that the advantage gained by these tapes is the single most important factor (even if some faint voices say otherwise) in the Patriots success this decade.
Never mind that the stealing of signals has been going on in all sports almost from the beginning. Never mind that other teams have been caught doing the same or worse. Ignore all of that.
Ignore this statement:
Taping from the sidelines during games, although forbidden, is regarded as a minor violation of the rules.
You know who wrote that?
The one and only Gregg Easterbrook. (On February 3, 2008)
>>
>>77652920
Yeah, the same guy now advocating a lifetime ban of Belichick.
For a “minor violation of the rules.”
Nothing has changed since that day, in fact, the Patriots position has improved, as the notion of the walkthrough video has been dismissed. The Boston Heraldand John Tomase have apologized for putting out this false information. Yet now Easterbrook wants the lifetime ban?
They’ve also shown that just because something has already been reported, it doesn’t mean you can’t write it again and shout from the rooftops that there is a new angle.
One of the prominent figures of this whole saga has been ESPN “investigative reporter” Mike Fish. For someone billed as an investigative reporter, I haven’t seen this guy yet bring something of value to the table. You’d think an investigative reporter would…you know…investigate. He would look into all aspects of a story, uncover new facts, perhaps expand the scope of the story to include other teams and their practices, to see if what the Patriots did was really out of line with what other teams were doing to get an edge.
Nope. He’s been solely focused on the Patriots. He hands in pieces like this, which have absolutely no new information whatsoever.
I’m tempted to dub him Mike Fishwrap, but that would be an insult to paper that is actually used to wrap dead fish.

Ready, Fire, Aim.

This will somehow get blamed on the internet, I’m sure, but this whole episode has consisted of events where reporters and media have shot first and asked questions later. The rush to be first get the news out there and garner attention has overidden everything else, including journalistic standards. Tomasegate is the prime example, but there are others.
>>
>>77652964
“I’m not aware of any connection between the SpyGate procedures and the procedures we went through here,” Goodell said on ESPN’s “Mike & Mike” show, shortly after the Outside the Lines report was released. “No connection in my mind.”
In a statement, the Patriots insisted they’ve done nothing wrong:
This type of reporting over the past seven years has led to additional unfounded, unwarranted and, quite frankly, unbelievable allegations by former players, coaches and executives. None of which have ever been substantiated, but many of which continue to be propagated. …
It is disappointing that some choose to believe in myths, conjecture and rumors rather than giving credit for the team’s successes to Coach Belichick, his staff and the players for their hard work, attention to detail, methodical weekly preparation, diligence and overall performance.”

Fun fact

The women accusing Zeke posted pictures of her bruises the day after the incident.

Interesting fact about that, she had bruises on her knuckles. How did she get that if she was the one being beat? Did she retaliate so well she could get multiple good hits to cause this?

Or is it the fact, according to witness testimony, she assaulted another women at the said incident? And there were multiple people there? Not just Zeke and the accuser? And witness testimony that when Zeke pulled up to the canvas apartment building's parking lot, he wasn't driving the car? It was a different woman? And this bitch was tailing them, after she'd called him 50 times in the span of 7 hours? And hacked his emails? And she say this girl and went bat shit insane with rage and jealousy so she attacked her?

Also said they gave Zeke 6 games because they fucked up Josh Brown's case last year and Ray Rice.

It was a direct result of the NFL's past fuck ups with domestic violence and they made the decision to appease SJW's and the media.

They dropped the Zeke investigation a month after it started, but after Brown's journal came out chronicling his abuse and he media went crazy about how he only got 1 game suspension, they reopened the Zeke case to pretty much make him a sacrificial lamb.

What defense do the Browns run?

I just got the athlon sports magazine and they were ranking defensive lineman/linebackers in a 4-3 system and a 3-4 system. So I tried to make a list of the schemes each team uses. The browns had a player on 3-4 and on 4-3 though which confused me. Also I couldn't find anything on the Colts because their entire Dline/LB core is so bad that not a single player made the list.

MUH SECRETLY CODED PROPRIETARY STATISTICS.

You see this is the Devil's work, don't you son? He creates secret formulae that twist reality and turn you away from Based Carr. And when asked to show his work and show how he created his formulae, he waves and wriggles and weaves to hide his deception. Because without deception, the Devil has nothing to steal the hearts of men, he's just a mean, ole dog on a chain.

But theres good news, son. Based Carr was sent from heaven to guide you out of the darkness. That anger you feel, son? Based Carr can take that away from you. He came to earth and shattered his fibula for all our sins. He healed his shattered fibula to rise once again. And he will take you into his heart, if you will only take him into yours.

First of all I'm not a Cowcuck fan, but can anyone tell me with a straight face that they actually, unironically trust Goodell and the league office? Everytime any "scandal" like this breaks out they lie and lie and lie, it happened with the Saints, it happened with Tom Brady, etc. Furthermore:
>Joe Mixon punches a girl and IT'S ON TAPE - no suspension
>Elliott gets suspended 6 games based on hearsay even though he wasn't charged with anything and the police didn't prosecute
Also, if the NFL had evidence that he indeed hurt that woman, shouldn't they forward the evidence to the police immidiately? Can someone actually explain what this kangaroo court is about?

>Three-time Defensive Player of the Year J.J. Watt found himself in familiar territory yesterday, as he was again firmly held captive by Patriots right tackle Marcus Cannon.

>Watt appeared to try it all against Cannon during the first of two joint practices between the Patriots and Houston Texans at the Greenbrier, but the defensive lineman was neutralized. In back-to-back plays at one point, Cannon withstood Watt’s power rush and next easily stayed in front of Watt amid two consecutive spin moves.

>Two consecutive spin moves? Yeah, it was the work of a shockingly desperate pass rusher who has likely grown tired of getting locked up by Cannon. When the two teams met in Week 3 of last season, Cannon kept Watt in check over the course of 24 blocking assignments, including 16 one-on-one meetings. He has 99’s number.

The fucking Rams have been here since the fucking 40's but all of a sudden thanks to niggers and spics all it took was "muh black and silver" to erase any semblance of loyalty to your TRUE home team. FFS you faggots claim to hate norcal so much when you took a norcal team and even when it moved BACK to norcal you STILL slobbered on the tit of the remains of the slaughtered cow that was the shortest tenure of any team in the NFL all while living in the city your supposedly so loyal to. Disgusting. Raiders would have won those Bowls in Oakland had Davis not been a dipshit and FORCED his way into LA for MONEY.

I FUCKING HATE EVERY. SINGLE . ONE. Of you fuckbois who still say this bullshit. 2020 can not come SOON ENOUGH. Then I will never have to see this bullshit phrase ever again. Trump is deporting all your fake asses and the Raiders will no longer even be IN CALIFORNIA FOREVER. I hope you ALL die horrible deaths for being such traitorous cunts you made our ACTUAL TEAM move just YEARS before they were able to put a Hall Of Fame caliber team and won a Super Bowl.

Agree to join us and the Rams and cuck the Sealels?
>>
>>77657595

You know the dearth of talent was felt league wide and they were still in cleveland in '45. You also failed to point out we kicked Paul Brown's ass in '51 for that second banner you see there

>"The "World Championship" banner awarded to the Rams was given as a gift to Tom Bergin after the game in gratitude for hosting the post-game dinner. As of 2016 it still hangs in the Tom Bergin's Irish pub in Los Angeles, the only one in private ownership. This was also the first time that the Browns under Paul Brown did not finish the season with a championship after 4 wins in the AAFC and a championship in their first NFL season in 1950."

So yeah, thanks for the comment on our banners they are nice. Also XIV should have been ours. We would have been the only team to have won a Owl in our home state.
>>
>>77655483
Are well all forgetting about his degenerative knee condition? He is pretty good, but he will be out of the league in 4 years tops.
>>

Fucking THIS. People want to act like the pictures are proof that Elliot did something, but if anything they seem to prove the opposite to me. This whole suspension is pretty shitty. >following the 1985 season; they would win just one division title (1990) and two playoff games from 1986 to 1994.

>In 1995, the Raiders returned to Oakland. After several years of continued mediocrity, the team entered a brief period of pronounced success in the early 2000s. From 2000 to 2002, the Raiders won three consecutive division titles and four playoff games; their renaissance culminated with a lopsided 2002 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Super Bowl XXXVII.

>The Super Bowl loss marked the beginning of a lengthy period of futility for the Raiders; from 2003 through 2015, the Raiders failed to post a single winning season or clinch a single playoff berth.

give me one fucking reason other than "muh superbowl" which was a total joke why the Raiders were and are still tolerated to this day in LA

From the article:

On the field, he is everything you look for in an elite prospect. But ... he has degenerative knee issues. Jack admitted as much on Wednesday, the day before the draft.

"(The degenerative problems are) there, but it's nothing extreme," Jack said, per the New York Post. "Down the line, possibly I could have microfracture surgery -- potentially. Who knows what will happen? Nobody knows how long anybody is going to play in this league. To play three years in this league would be above average."

Gronk as a QB wouldn't even be so bad because literally every single one of his offensive options is Rob fucking Gronkowski, there wouldn't any real pressure because he's just have to throw to the one open Gronk.

Not to mention the coaching staff and front office of Team Gronk would basically be a 24/7 frat party.

>The exchange is contained in the 160-page report prepared by NFL investigators into allegations that Elliott committed multiple acts of violence against ex-girlfriend Tiffany Thompson. Within that report, investigators noted a September 2016 text message exchange between Thompson and a friend, in which Thompson raised the idea of selling sex videos of herself and Elliott. During the conversation, Thompson’s friend suggested, “we could black mail him w[ith] that,” to which Thompson responded, “I want to bro.” The NFL’s report also stated that Thompson admitted registering an email address titled “ezekielelliott sex vids” in August 2016.

>The NFL Players Association has responded to the league's statement calling the efforts to discredit Ezekiel Elliott accuser Tiffany Thompson "shameful" with its own statement.
>The NFLPA's statement reads:
>"The public statement issued on behalf of every NFL owner is a lie. The NFLPA categorically denies the accusations made in this statement. We know the League office has a history of being exposed for its lack of credibility.
>"This is another example of the NFL's hypocrisy on display and an attempt to create a sideshow to distract from their own failings in dealing with such serious issues. They should be ashamed for stooping to new lows."

WTF I love the NFLPA now???

Switch:

>Dalton and Palmer
>Stafford and Luck

Besides that, this is pretty perfect.

Why does everyone dick ride Marita? Did I miss something? Dalton could drop 1 or 2 spots but not 5. Luck needs a massive drop and Stafford needs a steady boost up.
