>>
>>77645088
I wonder why they stopped it?
He hadn't even taken a down, and if he did recover and hung in there until the late rounds my money would have been on Yamanaka. He was being smart about his punches unlike Nery who was throwing pretty recklessly to get Yamanaka out as soon as he got an idea he may be hurt.

Yeah I like him. He has good timing and range control and is more fluid than the average British boxer. You're right that he's not very destructive though
>>
Japan needs to teach its fighters better defence before it can ever reach the status of an elite boxing nation. Every time I tune in to a Japanese fight, at some point they are caught with their chin up in the air and their guard nowhere to be seen
>>
>>77645128
Burnett wouldn't have a chance against Nery. I respect that you're routing for home team but I've seen Burnett box a few times. He's just not Nery caliber yet.
>>
Rojas vs Marrero should be a good support for the Golovkin vs Canelo fight. Perfect type of undercard fight really, two big hitting Hispanic warriors going at it
>>
>>77645337
He has a hard fight next so we'll see where we stand after that. I appreciate that Nery is a much more impressive physical specimen, but I see some pretty glaring holes in his technique

Anyway, it's nice to have the bantamweight division finally showing signs of life again. Hopefully Manny Rodriguez and Zolani Tete can get big fights this year too

mayweather still has some physical advantages

his reflexes, speed and stamina will all almost certainly be leauges ahead of conors

>>77646236

>>
>>77646250
Well you can say reflexes are partly genetic because of fast twitch muscle fibres but I was including that under skill. Conditioning is something you can get train. I think Conor has an ok chin, Mayweather will have to use his timing to land flush because he'll probably have a low guard and be very unconventional.
>>
>>77646307
>onditioning is something you can get train
true but some people naturally have a higher upper limit for stamina than others and mayweather has always been exceptional in that department, plus his energy efficent style of fighting only adds to that

It's two factors in play. >After the Lara win the Mayweather defeat was history

He had the excuse of being young and green, plus it's easier to come back from being outboxed than being beaten up. The former is embarrassing but the latter is emasculating. Fans need to believe that their guy has at least the possibility of being the best, which Canelo would no longer have until GGG retired

>>77649527
No there isn't stop talking about shit you don't know anything about newfag.
The rehydration clause has nothing to do with the fight contract itself, the rehydration clause is as a result of Golovkin being the IBF champion. The IBF requires fighters to not weigh more than 10 lbs over the limit during the morning of the fight.

Both of them have to follow this rule if they want to fight for the IBF title, and Golovkin's not going to come in weight drained for following this rule, he's been doing this since he took the title from Lemieux 4 fights ago.
Worst case scenario is that Canelo ignores the rule and rehydrates above 10lbs anyways like Jacobs did.
>>

>>77649947
Things could be rough short-term, but I think they'll be able to resign some of their old fighters after PBC croaks.
>>
>>77650716
its such a stupid fucking rule
it puts the champ at an inherent disadvantage

the challenger should have to state several weeks beforehand if he wishes to fight for the IBF also
>>
>>77650779
>the challenger should have to state several weeks beforehand if he wishes to fight for the IBF also
Wouldn't make a difference since they can't be punished for saying "yes" and then rehydrating above the limit anyways.

People go and leave P4P rankings all the time.
I don't understand why people do this everytime a Ring P4P fighter loses, no one stays P4P for the entirety of their career unless they retire undefeated, and even then the Ring knocks them down spots as they decline.

Imagine if you did this to every fighter throughout history as they lose a single match at the end of their career after having previously been dominant.

>Durr I thought John Sullivan was top ten P4P Ring, what happened?

If Conor makes it to a decision, they will say he won. Mayweather is their biggest cash cow. The Chocolatito Sor Rungvisai decision shows the judges are not afraid to take away a fighter's perfect record in a fight that the undefeated fighter dominated in, just so they can sell tickets to the rematch. They are especially likely to do it because they know Floyd will retire if he wins and they won't be able to sell another one of his fights. If it makes it to a decision, they'll give it to McGregor and sell a rematch no matter who won the fight.
>>
>>77657426
Mayweather's not going to stay retired and McGregor will be lucky to make it past the 2nd round
>>
>>77657426

If by some miracle McGregor makes it to the final bell, the fight won't have been remotely competitive enough to fix. People flipped their shit about Horn-Pac and that had like 2 rounds in it. An FBI investigation would be launched.
>>
>>77657270
>muh lucky punch
>>
>>77657426
The judges will be biased towards Mayweather if anybody because they are boxing people but if it goes 12 rounds it won't be close. There won't be a rematch. The Chris Van Heerden sparring shows what he's like, he'll let his hands go and has a decent snap to his punches. He has the power to back people up and his straight left his good. But his defence is poor, his timing won't be as good, Van Heerden maybe the 25th best welterweight was easily getting the better of him. He has a punchers chance and no more.

once the new brit boxing season starts, I'm going to start off with a 20 pound bet, and never spend any winnings I get, but use them to bet more. Wana see how much I can accumulate over a year on boxing. Its hard to be wrong with simple "win" bets when you actually follow the sport, upsets are pretty rare
>>
>>77657745
When you gamble you must find value, it's not much good predicting 7/10 correct at low odds. Badou Jack was priced at 1.53 when he opened against Nathan Cleverly but now the best odds are 1.29 two days later. Anthony Joshua was priced at 1.91 when he opened then backed into 1.40. When you're dealing with mainstream markets the edge is small. I had an ROI in 2016 of 22% on boxing bets and a win rate of 70%. Haye-Bellew put me off betting for life

May-Mac will be my last stand just because the odds are so out of whack
>>
So for all you /box/cucks who are so confident that Floyd is gonna win why aren't you posting your slips? Post your slips, /box/cucks. You know you're petrified. You can feel the upset is coming. Reality will set in soon for you. You've got a week before the house of cards that is /box/ing crumbles
>>
>>77657905
post yours baby
>>
>>77657905
I haven't bet on Mayweather yet because I don't think the drift is over, bookmakers are taking in far more money for McGregor which will keep pushing Mayweather's odds out. And I know you'll just inspect element your slip because you're too poor to bet $500
>>
I find it really sad how the /box/cucks are refusing to talk to about the biggest fight in their sport's history, they want to ignore it and talk about other fights because they want to keep their exclusive club and not give casuals any notice. this is how up their ass the /box/cucks are. It's incredible. The level of pettiness and arrogance from /box/cucks is astounding and certainly revealing about the /box/cuck nature.

The fact is this /box/cucks if it wasn't for McGregor no fucking nobody would be taking notice of your dead fucking sport. No one. You need this fight to bring your sport back to the mainstream yet your acting like your above it.

After Conor bounces Floyd's Malteser sized head off the canvas I hope you realize what a fool you were and I hope you beg for McGregor to fight again to resurrect your sport from the dead because I can assure you Conor is going to kill /box/ing in a weeks time. It's going to be seen as a joke.

That was an unusual case though because Haye had injured his Achilles before the fight which we heard about on the Monday and thought was a bullshit rumour which turned out to be true. He then ruptured it during the fight

The plan was for Bellew to cash out and Haye to be propelled back into the HW title contention. You can tell now that Bellew has no idea where he wants to go next.

Honestly I think a fight with Andre Ward in the UK would be huge. I think Ward is seriously thinking about it. He posted a pic of him on the scales and he's 182, don't know if he is wanting to move up or down

He should have signed with Schaefer along with his amateur rivals Rabii and Stanionis. MMA fans keep saying he's the only person in MMA history to hold two belts...
Do you guys mean that he's the only one to become a champion in two weight classes, or does the UFC just let him hold two belts for some strange reason?

If it's the former one then wow MMA is shit if not even a single fighter before McGregor could get two belts. Boxing has had nearly 50 triple weight champions and MMA can't even get one double?
If it's the latter then that's just stupid, what's the point of holding two belts at the same time? You can't be in two weight classes simulatenously. And how stupid do UFC fans have to be to eat that shit up? It's just a promotional gimmick at that point.

First of all you're an idiot.

Second of all, no, mcgregor isn't the only one to hold two belts in two different divisions. There's like 3 other guys who did it before him. He's just the only one to hold both at the same time which pretty much means nothing other than he had really good timing.

Thirdly, he was given that 2ND titleshot purely cause of how big a draw is. He pretty much leapfrogged the entire division to get it.

Finally, never compare boxing weight classes to MMA weight classes cause they will never be the same. There's a huge difference between fighting at 155 and 170 than there is between 147, 151, 153, 157, 160.

You MMA fans sure are insecure about your little sport.

>There's like 3 other guys who did it before him. He's just the only one to hold both at the same time which pretty much means nothing other than he had really good timing.

Okay, so I was right, it is just a gimmicky promotional tool. And seriously, only 4 guys in MMA have ever conquered two weight divisions?
Even with the bigger weight gap between weight classes there have been nearly 50 that have conquered 3 weight classes in Boxing, 15 within just the past decade.
Even if we want remove fighters who went up to featherweight or below since they have less than 10lbs weight difference between where they started and ended, that's still 28 fighters, 5 within the past 10 years.

>There's a huge difference between fighting at 155 and 170 than there is between 147, 151, 153, 157, 160.
Those aren't the boxing weight classes homie. It's 147, 154, 160.

He wouldn't even be in the UFC cause there's no men's strawweight division.

So what you're saying is Mikey Garcia would be a 2 weight champion in UFC.

typical MMAdumb
>>
>>77665576
No he wouldn't he'd be stuck in one division and even then he'd be undersized there. If he went to bantamweight he'd also be undersized there.

I'm amazed how much statpadding boxing has that you brag about someone being a triple champ in 5 lbs increments. With that metric, every current UFC champ is a quadruple champion.
>>
>>77665614
>UFC has a 125 division
>Mikey was a 126 lb champion
>UFC has a 135 lb division
>Mikey is a 135 lb champion

It's almost like you're retarded or something
>>
>>77665661
Nah you're the one too proud to admit you have no idea what you're talking about. He would be undersized at both divisions cause his walk around weight is less than 140 lbs. For him to be competitive he needs to compete at 115 lbs. He would definitely not win at 135 cause those guys cut weight from 155 lbs.

And using your own retarded logic every UFC champ is a quadruple champ so way to blow yourself out.
>>
>>77665614
UFC weight classes:
>Flyweight: 125lbs
>Bantamweight: 135lbs

Boxing weight classes:
>Featherweight: 126
>Lightweight: 135

Gee, and you called me stupid.
The current UFC Flyweight and Bantamweight champs are 5'3" and 5'8" respectively btw. Garcia is 5'6".
>>
>>77665694
I honestly think you're trolling me right now. Mikey Garcia walks around larger than Mighty Mouse.
>>
>>77665728
And the guys he took the titles from were 5'4", 5'6" and 5'8" respectively.

>>
>>77665732
Sure, but read what I said before instead of inserting your own conclusions. I said he'd be undersized and there's no chance for him to become a champ let alone a double champ let alone a triple champ.

Not only is Garcia bigger than most UFC Flyweights, he's also about average for UFC Bantamweights, with the champion being the tallest guy in the division and yet still just as big as Rocky Martinez who Garcia had to beat to win the a title anyways.
This "UFC fighters in equivalent divisions are bigger" idea is something you pulled out of your ass.
>>
>>77665830
The only retard here it seems is the one who can't do basic maths.

Let me walk through with you. You said in boxing there's 147,154 and 160 weight classes. In UFC there's 145 and 155. With your retarded boxing logic, mcgregor is a quadruple champ cause he's champ at 145, 147, 154, and 155 so he'd need to have 4 belts. Because boxing loves giving out belts to pretty much everyone to the point they mean nothing anymore.

It's funny how your own stupidity ended up blowing up in your face which is why I made sure to start my post of by calling you an idiot which you most definitely are proving to be with every post.

I'm talking to a literal retard.
>>
>>77665880
Lol if you're walking 5 lbs over 135 then you're undersized for that division. Stop talking about something you're clueless about. Size and weight is really important in mma and that's why you hear Conor mouthing off about how Floyd is too small. In reality Floyd would never be able to hang with anyone who fights at 155 or 145 in the UFC. Mikey would be too small for UFC bantamweight cause most of the elite guys fighting there walk around 20 lbs heavier than him. Accept you're wrong and move on.

This is such a dumb argument cause you're essentially refusing to accept that boxing weight classes are smaller than MMA ones. With boxing metrics everyone in the UFC is at least a triple world champion. Quit it with the nut hugging.
>>
>>77665917
It's okay I accept your concession. I pretty much accepted you were an idiot the moment I bit into your bait which wasn't really bait at all.

Stupidity can be cured but your case is very advanced my friend. You can have the last word little man.

>>77665973
>there's never been a single UFC fighter thats beat another fighter more than 5 lbs larger than themselves

"sport"
>>
>>77665901
Not a single triple champion on that list fought at a catchweight FYI. You're also not responding to the same person.
Try to find a new argument.

>>77665973
I'm sure the 5'3" 125lb UFC champ is walking around at 150lbs.
You also don't know each fighter's natural weight, you're just guessing, and probably guessing wrong.
Proof you're guessing wrong is that Garcia struggled to even make 140 against Broner. He's more than big enough to conquer Flyweight and Bantamweight in the UFC.
>>
>>77666035
He's not big enough for bantamweight if he's struggling to even make 140. Don't take this statement literally. Almost everyone in the UFC cuts an obscene amount of weight to fight the division below. People fighting at bantamweight are 10-15 lbs over 135 walking weight.

If he's struggling to make 140 then he's probably within that over 10-15 lbs walking weight for 135, and he reportedly rehydrated into the 140s when he was fighting at 135.
He was big for Boxing Lightweights, so again, I don't think he'd have any problem fighting at UFC's Bantamweight class. He'd be about average for them.
