Choose a school that has a solid academic program and is located in a recruiting hotbed like California, Florida, or Texas that way you have good topics for your recruiting pitches. Some schools that first year is hard to recruit because every pitch you make has like a C or D rating.

For an O-Line, consistency. You want players who are multi-year starters and have played in enough games to have a solid understanding of how the offense works and the tendencies of opposing defenses. D-line, you want a lot of depth. On the edge you want athleticism/speed to pass rush, run down runningbacks and contain scrambling QBs. On the inside you want big, strong run-stuffers who can collapse the middle of the pocket on passing downs. They don't have to be that smart, their assignments aren't very complicated and if they're ever unsure what to do they can just rush the passer or clog a gap and they're doing something good. On the offensive line you want smart guys with low pad levels, strong lower bodies, good footwork and good handwork. Athleticism and height is more important for tackles than guards and centers. Ideally your center is one of the smartest players on the team. Ideally they are only in a 3 point stance on obvious passing downs.

I love college football but my school didn't have a team so I don't really have a favorite. I just watch all the big games on Saturdays and I actually like that I never get emotionally invested in the games, it makes me appreciate the overall landscape as a whole. The SEC is by far the best conference and has been every year for at least 15 years now and that's coming from a completely unbiased perspective

I think Rhule and his staff will at least improve the defense, purely looking at football. Hopefully, to a significant degree. Not that hard when the defense always has a major hole. The line was trash starting out and the secondary at least held up enough during the Big XII title years. The power shifted to the line and the back seven became unreliable, especially >Ryan Reid.
