Of course there are bad male announcers too, but the difference is bad male announcers at least don't have terrible voices that make me want to mute the TV. There are also good male announcers but there isn't a single good female announcer that I've seen so far for baseball or football.

Week 2 Nebraska at Oregon predictions?
>>
>>77430841

Nebraska pile drives Oregon.

Taggert wasn't a GREAT coach, he just had a great team at USF.

His first year there, and changing so much of how the offense works... it won't be good.

Nebraska is always good though.
>>
>>77430893
>Nebraska is always good though.

They went 6-7 in 2015. Not always a reliable team. They have talent but just want to fuck up at certain points, especially road games. So I'm thinking Oregon squeaks it out.
>>
>>77430908

2015 was Riley's first year, and he still made a bowl and won it.

I think Nebraska is still in an upward trajectory under him. Or at a minimum, have plateaued.
>>
>>77430943
Getting BTFO by tOSU and Iowa is an upward trajectory?
>>
>>77430908
>>77430943

Also Riley spent 12 seasons at Oregon state, so he's very familiar with the foe--and he's got a better team to work with now.
>>
>>77430972

Losses to quality teams and a 9-4 season is not a bad outcome for 2016. Sure, plenty of room for improvement, but hardly anything to be upset about.
>>
>>77430364
Good on you for following a Pac 12 team.

You'll get to take part in some comfy Pac 12 After Darkâ„¢ posting. That's always fun.
>>
>>77430893

Nebraska barely beat Oregon last year at home and the Ducks can't possibly be shittier this year than they were in 2016

>>77431172

Because 1 loss > 2 loss, and Ohio State has more fans, which means more viewers and more money (if you're into conspiracies).

IF we had an 8 team playoff with an at large bid, Ohio State would have certainly gotten in with an at large and played Alabama in game 1. Which might have been fun, or we might have watched them get shut out again. Who knows.
>>
>>77427693
Yeah it will be a big trap game for us since you'll be 3-2 when we meet ;)
>>
>>77431217
They beat Ohio State and won the big ten championship
Penn State got robbed
They wouldn't give Baylor or tcu a slot cuz big12 didn't declare a champion then change their opinion the next season.

>Penn State got robbed

I absolutely agree. And watching anOSU get completely shut out, followed by Penn State putting on one of the best games of the year in the Rose Bowl just reinforces it.

A year or 2 more of that kind of shenanigans will really start having people clambering for an 8 team playoff.
>>
>>77431181

Their offense will be better. They have a good QB, a more experienced line and a really good runningback. The defense can only go up and they hired the defensive coordinator who turned Colorado's defense from garbage to Pac 12 South champions. Obviously that kind of turnaround won't happen in one year but it's dumb to act like Nebraska will blow them out when they easily could have lost to them last year.
>>
>>77426886
>>77426721
I like Herbstreit when he isn't shilling for whatever team or player that has caught his fancy and thinks is in some sort of unknown niche. When he's just calling the game as is he's head and shoulders better than most active commentators

>>
>>77431271

We'll see, I don't really have a dog in the fight. But I think a first year head coach at Oregon vs a Nebraska program that's on the rise won't end well for the Ducks.

That was in the playoffs though, so after the committee decided the seeding. And I think Ohio State got in deservedly, since the committee took the entire body of work into account, including OOC games which didn't affect conference standings. It hasnt been bad for years. The crackdown on stuff like this has been severe.

It was never even as bad as it was portrayed. But our reputation stems from a time when we were in a league where everyone looked down their nose at us and we don't really take kindly to it. So we weren't very hospitable to fans from the "city schools"

Big 12 fans are great though. Really salt of the earth people like those from WV, so the environment has really gotten a lot better.

I mean you take dickheads from Pittsburgh, Boston, Miami, etc and send them to a small town and they act like dickheads, what do they expect to happen? Oh yeah they expect us to sniff their farts, well... no moonshine for them.

Just do not let anyone sell you on the "Kegler's wings are the best" meme. They are ok. Definitely hit up Mountain State Brewing Company and get the fire on the mountain pizza. it's awesome.

Ohio State's season was impressive enough to get them into the top 4.

Team A has two losses, one of those to the #22 team, and wins over #2 and #8.

Team B has a loss to #5 over #6, #7, #8, and #24.

Team C has a loss to #9 and wins over #10, #18, and #19.

If you can't argue that Team C should be ranked higher than Team B, then it's no question why Ohio State was in the top 4.

Completely false.

It there were an 8 team playoff, OSU would have been an at large bid, and would have already played a grand total of 2 teams: PSU and Oklahoma.

And even if they had played ALL of them, that doesn't stop any other league with a playoff or tournament from playing often exciting and meaningful re-matches, your argument is specious.

To put so much trust in the committee's choice, for 2 years in a row they have drawn teams from the B1G that get shut out. I'm sure there's other example of this, but my favorite was in 2005 when UT played OSU during the regular season. Both were highly ranked, and Texas winning propelled them into the NCG.

Schedule ranked teams = Winning
Schedule G5 and FCS = Babbies
>>

He needs to go. Notre Dame will never be great again with him.

Reminder that the only games Penn State won away from home last year during the regular season was against Indiana, Purdue and Rutgers.

Their "quality losses" were at Pitt and by 39 at Michigan.

Reminder that they were pretty overrated and lucked into playing Wisconsin (who lost to every decent team they played) before losing by two possessions away from home again.

Reminder that James Franklin has NEVER coached a team at PSU or WF with any sort of expectations and none of these players have ever had high expectations put on them.

Reminder that Penn State will have 3 losses before November.

Unless it's a blowout, the loser of FSU/Bama will still be top 5 after week 1 and whoever loses will have tons of quality games remaining to earn their way back into the playoff conversation. It's not an elimination game, especially for Bama. No way in hell a one loss SEC champ ever misses the playoff.
>>
>>77445564
>Loser of the game loses all chance for Playoff in Week One.
In 2014 OSU won after getting beat at HOME by Virginia Tech, so I don't think a quality loss will prevent a team from going.

Still should be 8 teams.

-Will bankroll the first nukes on Detroit
-Own 99% of pass completions on Earth
-First designer offenses will in all likelihood be Peters offenses
-Said to have 215+ IQ, such intelligence on Earth has only existed deep in Ryan Fitzpatrick’s library & Andrew Luck’s beard.
-Ancient Indian scriptures tell of an angel who will descend upon Earth and will bring an era of enlightenment and unprecedented Nattys with them
-Own’s Ohio State year round
-You likely have Peters’ sperm inside you right now
-Peters is in regular communication with the Archangels Michael and Gabriel, forwarding the word of God to Tebow. Who do you think set up the meeting between the Mets & Tebow (First meeting between the two organisations) and arranged the Tebow’s first trip to the Philippines in history literally a few days later to the Peters bunker in Touchdown land?
-Learned Harbaugh’s playbook in under a week
-States entrust their croots with the Brandon. There’s no croots in Texas, only in Michigan
-Peters is about 7 decades old, from the space-time reference point of the base human currently accepted by our society

CFB is one of the few sports where I never get tired of seeing the "big guys". In things like the NBA and NFL, everyone hates to see the same few teams win year after year, it's all about the upsets. But cfb is different. While the little teams fighting for upsets is always fun, nothing compares to a saturday night matchup of top 5 bluebloods.
USC, Texas, OSU, Oklahoma, Alabama. (>inb4 lengthy blueblood debate)

Not to mention the extra game LSU had to play.

The worst is how damn impressive LSU's season was. They had wins over the teams that finished the season #2, #6, #7, #18, and #23, not to mention three others that fell out of the rankings, and no losses. That's more impressive than Alabama's season was *after* the title game.

I'm mad because it setup the Alabama dynasty that will likely never end.
>>
>>77458539
Meh, I doubt anything changes for Bama if they didn't make it. One less natty.

LSU and OkSt were probably EXTREMELY hurt though. Oklahoma State would've been validated just by appearing in the title game (kind of like Virginia Tech was by playing against FSU in 1999). And LSU would've had two natties in five years and probably the most impressive season of the century. If Oklahoma State had won they would have become a modern power, something like what Clemson is now. LSU is still top tier but OkSt is still average.

But in Copenhagen, of course, "football" meant soccer. I currently reside in Portland, Oregon.

Considering they got rid of their shitty meme DC who was like 80% of their problem there's no way I see them going any less than 6-6. The only realistic losses on that schedule are UGA, USC, Miami and Stanford, with the possibility of UNC and MSU trap games and them dropping yet another Navy game on a neutral field. Notre Dame still has an explosive offense which is gonna send two offensive linemen to the first round of the draft and a defense being coached by someone who isn't a retard for once.

1997's Southwestern Louisiana (now Louisiana-Lafayette) Rajun Cajuns gave up 50.3 points a game
Although this isn't calibrated for tempo
Texas Tech gave up one fewer point per game

Name a good QB that is a QB coach.

Exactly. Anyone who was actually good doesn't need money from coaching and would only do it if they have a passion for it.

Most coaches were average at best players. You don't have to have been a great player to coach others. It's pretty easy to tell what players need to do better even if you've never played the position. It's why a lot of position coaches aren't even occupied by players that have never even played that position.
