As you can see, the base formation is 3-4-3

The two on the side of the CF are basically second strikers, they will stay wide while the team is building up play, and wait for Conti and Rodriguez to follow up the manouvre. At that point they converge into the center and play the ball for a key pass or cut into the box vertically. As you can see, while the team is transitioning in attack, the first touch is for the midfielders or the CF. They are not playing Treq. like Eriksenn or Coutinho. My two cents.

But if you watch the game you see that more than often the team expose the ball in the middle with 3 man lined up in defence, building a 3-4-3.

I really don't know if it's a risky choice, but I think the team will be shaped like this in the offensive transition. If it works, fine.

Of course, I take for granted that you know that the start-up line that you see in the soccer tv shows it's just a meme, and that the game is dynamical. The players are not stuck on the grass with glue. Neither they move according to your expectation. Just sit down, relax and WATCH THE GAME.
