It gets explained in ML2 that the Tribe didn't win it all. Then they made the move to acquire Jack Parkman (a power hitting catcher who hit a bunch of home runs and drove in a bunch of RBIs). The Tribe begins a major winning streak en route to another playoff appearance. Lou Brown feigns a heart attack to spurn the team on to win the AL Pennant against the Whos (who were the team that acquired Parkman). Ending in another climatic showdown where Rick Vaughn once again faces one hitter (Parkman) in the 9th on 3 strikes to win the Pennant and go on to the WS.

In 3 it isn't explained what happened but Cerrano, Baker, and Tanaka all end up with the Twins AAA affiliate, presumably in a trade for peanuts...also, Bob Uecker is traded and somehow Roger Dorn is a GM for the Twins now as well.
