He wasn't referring to the rams no one does and idk the rams probably prep way more for us, they take it serious and they matchup well against us but He means 2010-2013 the 49ers are a high level owl contender and the cardinals went 13-3 in 2015 and were good a couple years before that can you name many playoff teams other than the pats since 2000 from that division. Comparing like this is dumb. Rodgers and Brady aren't competing in the 100m dash, they are just QBs on different teams. It doesn't matter who scored the most points or who won the game when comparing individual players, what matters is who does the most to help their team win. It's not Brady's job to stop Aaron Rodgers or Russell Wilson or Matt Ryan from scoring, it's his team's job. What you actually seem to be arguing is that the Patriots are a better team than the Packers, which I don't think anyone would argue. But that isn't what that anon was saying, and I think you knew that

Did you know Vick's career high in passing touchdowns is 21?

He SUCKED as a passer outside of 2010 which he again got hurt in.

Again, both those teams spent elsewhere and the results show. Wilson will typically win if the Offense can score just 24 points. Rodgers will get into shootouts more often because the FO invested in the Oline, so Rodgers will typically have the best pass blocking in football to work with and pick defenses apart. Again both teams invest elsewhere, established clear identities, and it has paid off huge for them

The Patriots beat all those teams, contributing to their losing records.

The Rams lose to all those teams, contributing to their winning records.

Honestly, over a time span that long, the average of pretty much anything is going to be .500 - that particular team's W/L record is going to decide that stat. It's sad that person is taken seriously after citing that stat. As far as Earl Thomas, as we know, the NFC West had an historically bad record last season and he's just a moron.

For example, last season was the first time the Bills had a losing record going into their 1st game against New England since 2010.

I literally shut the game off after the Pats 1st series. 3rd Down pass to Julian who was just raped before the ball got there, no call. I knew they'd be given no chance to compete that day.
>>
>>77325668
And what does that have to do with them being fed wins by a weak division and the nfc w has been to 7 super bowls since 2000 as well but spread around by all of them so it's hard to stay on top of it

Whatever helps you sleep kid, btw in 2001 the patriots also had Manning in the division :^)

Someone post this yesterday - AFC East has the best record in the NFL since 2000. 14 more wins than the next closest division, the AFC North and the Pats have a BETTER record against teams outside the AFC East.

Literally everything people try to say to hate on Brady and the Pats, the opposite is always true.

Because your argument implies the patriots were never as good as their record implied. Which is simply retarded because they've been winning for almost two decades. You can't claim the NFCW has had multiple owl teams but ignore the years the AFCE had competition. Jets went to two straight AFCCGs too.

The multi-owl rams and seahawks lost to the Patriots, your argument is 100% invalid.

Meanwhile the AFCE has had the best defensive statistics since 1995, have given competition in 3/5 owl wins and recently been in the playoffs, but none of it ever mattered because the patriots beat teams better than them. Even if they finished 3-3 in the division their playoff seedings would barely change. Fuckoff you absolute tard.

christ seachicken fans do nothing but bitch and moan

in 2010 the jets went 11-5 and lost the division by three games, but would have won the nfc west by four games

in 2015 they missed the playoffs despite a 10-6 record, seattle made the playoffs with a 10-6 record that year

Imagine a division where you have to go 12-4 minimum to feel like you have a chance of winning it every year?

I hate the pats as a jets fan but you can't deny their success. Their 5 lombardis are there whether you like it or not

There are fucking retards here who, like Earl Thomas, actually think if all 4 teams in a division go 8-8 that means it was the toughest division.

No, retards.

You measure the strength of NFL Divisions and Conferences by their record against other Divisions and Conferences.

Last season the AFC beat the NFC more in head to head match ups. The AFC then beat the NFC in the Superbowl. Therefore, the AFC was the tougher Conference.

Likewise, the AFC East had a 24-16 record against other divisions. Meaning the AFC East was an above average division, winning more than they lost. Even if one subtracts the Patriots' 9-1 non-division record, the AFC East is still a respectable 15-15. Meaning even if you take away their best team (for some unexplained reason) they are STILL not a weak division.

Conversly, the NFC West went 23-39-2 in 2016. They were one of the weakest divisions in the history of sport. The NFC West's record against other divisions was 12-28. If, like we did with the AFC East, we subtract their winningest team for some unexplained reason, the NFC West went a mighty 5-25 against the rest of the NFL.

But of course we all know how many injuries the Seahawks had so none of this really matters because if they were healthy the NFC West would have gone 64-0.
>>
>>77326079
I was trying to be sarcastic but you helped my point the afc e can only feed the patriots wins which propels them into the playoffs and raises there chances of getting to the owl and in turn winning it don't get me wrong they're a good team but having a shitty division really helps teams consistently stay good that's why they have barely been challenged in 15 years and are constantly deep in the playoffs any sb contender that's routinely gifted home field advantage will often make it to the Super bowl

>>77326126

Yes and what I'm saying is there are plenty of teams of that level in the nfc in this era but they are just less consistent and will get outshined by an other if they are not da bes and I think both conferences at some points in time put weak teams in the owl due to whatever chain of events ' 2011 giant's ' but that shit happens teams get injuredd and teams get hot and in this millennia the two winningest teams are the patriots and the steelers but there have been decades in the nfc like this as well so it's nothing new this sport is random as fuck

Let's not forget the unfortunate Kordell Stewart. Bill Cowher actually went into 6 NFL seasons deciding "Yup, this is my starting QB." (77 TDs - 84 INTs Career 56.8 QB Rating)

Was just watching the first game ever at Gillette from 2002. Rematch against the Steelers who lost the AFCCG the year before. The first two drives Stewart threw INTs. And he ended the AFCCG by throwing INTs on the last 2 drives. So he threw INTs to the Patriots on 4 straight possessions. Pro Bowler, Kordell Stewart.

>Peyton notoriously choked in the playoffs for years

But in 2003 and 2004, his Colts went 3-0 and averaged 43 ppg against teams not the NE Patriots.

> even a weren't shit without Ray Lewis

I don't know what this means. Lewis played when Brady beat them in 2011.

>Steelers were trash last year

Trash team that won 9 straight games all against teams from the superior AFC? Nope.

>no team has made it back the owl after losing it in years so the Broncos weren't gonna make it

Yeah, no. The team went 50-14 over 4 years with Manning. Just stop. Please?
>>
>>77326515

Chargers fan here, absent a complete tomfuckery of injuries again, Chargers will win 10 games. Meaning Raiders will likely only win 12 games at most. Their defense is still abysmal but improving. I think the Chiefs Raiders and Broncos will all take a step back from last year's records and the Chargers will make a significant jump in wins (9 of their 11 losses was by 7 or less points). They have an improved oline, one of the best WR corps in the league when healthy (including 2 great TEs), a probowl running back and a scary front 7 and two probowl CBs. Chargers make the playoffs. Cap it.

Patriots racking up wins against their shit division. What is your point?

>Most SBs which is all by one team

What argument is this? All you've suggested is that the Patriots are going to the SB coasting off home field advantage given to them by their trash division. I don't understand why you even included this.

Winning percentage is an interesting calculation, but we all know playoffs are what matters. Let's see when was the last time every one of those teams won a playoff game

AFCE
>Jets
>2010
>Bills
>1995 (Zero since realignment)
>Dolphins
>2000 (Zero since realignment)
>Pats
>2017

NFCW
>Seahawks
>2017
>Cardinals
>2016
>Niners
>2014
>Rams
>2004

And since realignment three of the four NFCW teams have made the SB. Only one of the AFCE teams. Nice competitive division you have there. The AFCE is so irrelevant that pats fags had to create rivalries with Peyton and Flacco just to entertain themselves.
>>
>>77332477
Anon the only way a division doesn't get a win in games inside the division is if it ends tied, and that happens once in forever. If a team goes 6-0 and the other 0-6 in one division and two teams go 3-3 in another division both of them get 6 wins on the list.
>>
>>77332477
that's the team's fault for constantly settling for shitty teams that can't compete with the pats
it's not a problem of "the pats dominate our division", it's more of "the pats' division can't be assed to field another decent team in the last 20 years"

Hey Oni I know you are on here sometimes I'd love if you could answer some questions. I'm not writing anything, just curious:

>What's it's it like learning under Mike Tice? Is he as good of a coach as everyone says. He seems to really connect with the O-line.

>How are the rookies looking? (Sharpe and Ware)

>Who do you think has a leg up on the RT position? I'd love to see Alexander or Sharpe step up there.

>What's the O-Line room like in general? Seems like it would be a lot of fun. Do you have someone that you're closest with or that you see as a mentor?I would think Hudson would be great to learn from even just by watching the way he prepares and stuff.

>How do you feel about your future with the Raiders/in the NFL?

>How are you feeling in your second season compared to last year?

>Who's the guy (on defense) you hate going up against in drills? Or just the guy that gives you the most trouble. Any guys you can beat consistently?

I'm sorry you don't understand this but I don't have confidence that I'll be able to explain it to you if you honestly don't.

The strength of a Division is measured by its record against OTHER divisions. The in-Division records will ALWAYS be .500. So the stronger Divisions have records above .500 because they win more than they lose when they play OTHER Divisions.

As I've shown here, the AFC East's record WITHOUT the Patriots is slightly below .500, meaning sans the Pats, the AFC East is an average strength Division. The NFC West's record is WELL BELOW .500 - if fact it's THE WORST RECORD of all NFL Divisions. Meaning they lose more than they win when they play OTHER Divisions. Therefore, the NFC West is BY FAR the weakest division in the NFL since realignment. By FAR the weakest!

Likewise, the AFC had a winning record against the NFC last year. In all the games between AFC and NFC teams last year, the AFC won more than they lost. So the AFC was the stronger Conference. It's the same with Divisions.

Do you understand? Because I'm holding out hope that you're trolling, but I can't say for sure.

The point you're making about the playoffs - every division gets to send a team to the playoffs. Like 2010, when the 7-9 Seahawks beat NO in the Playoffs that win didn't suddenly mean the NFC West was stronger than the NFC South that season. It just means they won that one game - AT HOME - because every Division gets at least 1 home playoff game, even if they suck so bad every team in the Division finished below .500.

Earl Thomas complained about the Pats having an easy road while his team played in one of the worst divisions in 15 years in the weaker conference. That idiocy doesn't deserve to be defended, it demands to ridiculed, because it's one of the dumbest things ever said by a human being.

Alright done, this is a total since realignment of the number of teams that won in the playoffs sorted by division. As >>77333582 stated, just because a team won once doesn't necessarily mean they were the better team that year, but with 15 years of sample size we can see overarching trends about which divisions regularly churn out postseason contenders. Since only 4 to 8 teams can mathematically win in the playoffs each season, it's a better indicator of having a relevant team than simply making the playoffs, since as that poster rightly noted, every division automatically sends a team anyways.

NFC West: 17
>Seahawks (05, 06, 07, 10, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16)
>49ers (02, 11, 12, 13)
>Cardinals (08, 09, 15)
>Rams (04)
AFC East: 15
>Patriots (03, 04, 05, 06, 07, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16)
>Jets (02, 04, 09, 10)
NFC South: 13
>Falcons (02, 04, 12, 16)
>Panthers (03, 05, 14, 15)
>Saints (06, 09, 11, 13)
>Buccaneers (02)
AFC North: 13
>Steelers (02, 04, 05, 08, 10, 15, 16)
>Ravens (08, 09, 10, 11, 12, 14)
AFC South: 12

>Texans (11, 12, 16)
>Titans (02, 03)
>Jaguars (07)
NFC North: 11
>Packers (03, 07, 10, 12, 14, 15, 16)
>Bears (06, 10)
>Vikings (04, 09)
NFC East: 10
>Eagles (02, 03, 04, 06, 08)
>Cowboys (09, 14)
>Giants (07, 11)
>Redskins (05)
AFC West: 9
>Broncos (05, 11, 13, 15)
>Chargers (07, 08, 13)
>Chiefs (15)
>Raiders (02)
>>
>>77334069
In addition, I made this list to note how many years in which ANY team from the division won a playoff game, which serves to counteract some of the inherent statistical bias that comes from scheduling, since entire divisions get their records buffed/nerfed by who else they had to play, which factors in to a degree for earning more/fewer spots in the playoffs as a division. That's not to say that having more wild card spots means those extra teams were always legit, but it gives them more chances to get at least one team that wins that year. Years in which no team won in the playoffs that season are in parentheses.

AFC East: 14/15 (08)
NFC West: 14/15 (03)
NFC South: 12/15 (07, 08, 10)
AFC North 11/15 (03, 06, 07, 13)
AFC South: 11/15 (05, 08, 10, 15)
NFC East: 10/15 (10, 12, 13, 15, 16)
NFC North: 10/15 (02, 05, 08, 11, 13)
AFC West: 7/15 (03, 04, 06, 09, 10, 12, 14, 16)

>>
>>77334069
>>77334090
Of course, just like all statistics, these aren't end-all-be-all numbers that should be treated as the only facts that matter. To clarify, it's not that I'm claiming that the NFC West as a whole has been dominant. We all know that's not true. However their alleged impotency has been grossly over-exaggerated, since they show up in the playoffs on a regular and consistent basis.

Maybe you can move some of these divisions up or down a spot due to flukes here and there, but the NFC West being that high on both lists doesn't happen purely by accident, and serves as a VERY strong sign that claims like this >>77333420
>NFCE has more relevance in the playoffs than the NFCW
are just plain wrong
>>

25 NFCE
23 NFCN
22 AFCS
22 AFCW
21 NFCS
21 NFCW
20 AFCE

don't make super risky picks ever, but also try to save the strong teams that you know will be playoff teams during the first part of the season, because those are your "bail-out picks" for those weeks when the picking game is dry and you need a guarantee. it's a balancing act for trying to use those teams but not too often. during the early part of the season when there's a lot of unpredictability going around because it hasn't been made clear exactly which mid-tier teams will fail or succeed, you're better off picking AGAINST terrible teams than you are trying to pick for teams you think are good.

What is it about the NFC East, do you think, that makes it so shit?
>>
>>77335960
every organization in it is dysfunctional
>>
>>77335968
yeah but why them?
>>
Falcons 12-4
Saints 11-5
Buccaneers 8-8
Panthers 6-10

Literally thinking the same thing. Only time I'll ever root for Brownies
>>
>>77335960
NFC East has one of the best regular season AND playoff records in the NFC since 2007
>>
>>77335960
Why do I need to explain why shit is shit?
>>
>>77335865
haven't been there in a while either but it was mainly a "regulars club" of tripfags and guys who were essentially namefags, but they did actually discuss football now and then so whether you consider that better or worse would depend on your tastes

idk shitty ownership?

Lurie is a pseudo intellectual who thinks he knows mroe than he does

Dan Snyder is the worst owner in the nfl, I could write a book on why he sucks.

Jerry is a great businessman but he's too meddling and hires his friends

The Maras are a bunch of spoiled children.

Reminder the Pats shipped Jamie Collins to Cleveland for nothing and didn't miss him as the won the owl because because he's a stiff so the Browns immediately gave him a $50 million contact.

Steelers haven't had a losing record since 2003 and won a superbowl in 2009. Great organization and great ownership even in this era. Stop hating

Giants won two Owls, bro. been under a rock since 2006?

thanks to a catch on the level of david tyree's. they were going to lose to a 9-win team otherwise
