And that D20 ends a night that really only had one stand out fixture; naturally, that fixture was the one that saw a big seed be eliminated.

The hour-long opening slog saw Mensur Suljovic and Justin Pipe embroiled in a slow and methodical affair that never really ignited. The Gentle's high finish was a 116 that saw him go 5-3 ahead, and it was the checkouts that won it with 58% to the Force's terrible 27%. Please fuck off forever, Justin.

Darren Webster made it to his first Matchplay quarter-final with a relatively easy victory over Steve West. After Manlet broke Simply with 85 for 3-2, the Essex jobber threw a stunning 306 in 6 that ended on the bull for a 135. A string of 3 legs at 4-4 for the Norfolk dwarf secured the match, but there was still fun to come: Shanghai on 20s for Webster before a stunning 133 on D8 as West came back with a 121 on the same double.

The standout fixture saw Gary Anderson Blackpool bother continue as Daryl Gurney played the game of his career. Gando went 3-0 up but his finishing was poor for him, only hitting 36%. The Ulsterman got going with 104 but the turning point came at 5-4 to the Scot as Superchin tied it up big style with a 121 bull. From there, Gurney played his greatest ever darts as he won the next two legs and held Gando off despite a 104 from Gary in the very next leg; the doubling was precise with 55% finishing, and the scoring was strong with a 103 average to eliminate Anderson's 105.

Peter Wright banished his opening night disaster with a professional whipping of Spain's Cristo Reyes. Only 3 darts at a double were missed by each player, with Wright's 104 average coupled by a bewildering 78% checkout rate. A 4-1 first session deficit was never recovered by the Spartan despite hitting 116 and 106 outs as Clown hit 106 and 101.
