what went wrong?
He was undersized and NFL front offices are terrified of upsetting angry old white guys (see: Colin Kaepernick)
But mostly he was undersized

Kaep sucks. Im sick of race bait. If he was good hed play no matter what
>>77266957
Geno Smith and Dan Orlovsky have jobs while Kaepernick doesn't. Do you honestly believe that they're better than him?

Circa 2014
One of several reasons why football is dying
>>77266681
Too slow, too weak, too small, too clumsy, no move, no first step, no ability to get under pads, couldn't fill lanes, more than a step being halfbacks
>inb4 "All 2nd Team Defensive 3-4 OLB player of the month" award
>>77266994
Kaepernick is fucking garbage lad.
Like hot dogshit tier.
Yes, those teams have better chances at winning with guys that have studied under those coordinators for 2+ years and know the team rather than some dumb bitch that can run .3 seconds faster in a 40 yard dash
End yourself.

>ends up signing with a CFL team
>gets preferential treatment/huge attention just cause he's a known name
>ends up not doing shit and basically quitting after 2 games for 'mental reasons'
>later says that going to Canada was a "last resort" and that he never wanted to be here
yea, fuck him

a big reason Cap isn't playing right now is he seems more focused on politics than football (as many have pointed out)
FOs/coaches are questioning his focus and commitment on the game - something that's especially important for QBs
the fact he'd attract a media circus is also a factor
or, if you wanna believe the rumours, his alienation within the San Fran locker room could happen again
>>77266994
I believe theyre already signed to contracts
>>77266994
Geno Smith unironically has more upside than Kaep
the jets really screwed with his development.
>>77266681
Wasn't this guy getting all sassy at training camp and getting boners while running drills?
>>77266681
Nothing. He was a fringe prospect that used his faggot status to secure himself endorsement deals and a contract. He knew he was fucked going into the draft and was securing his "brand" going forward.
>>77266839
Had nothing to do with his faggot status. He was too small and weak to play DE and too slow to play LB. A "hybrid" with none of the advantages that a hybrid traditionally brings.

What casuals don't understand.
1. Training camp is for evaluations. You're not going to sign Kaep because you already know what he can and cannot do, but you don't know what the UDFA from Dustbowl State can do. And God forbid you miss out on the next Jake Delhomme, Tony Romo, Kurt Warner, etc.
2. Geno has a job right now because he's been injured the past two seasons but still has "upside" and there's no guarantee that he'll even make the 53-man roster for the Giants. In many ways, he's no different than the UDFA's trying to make practice squads: you don't know what he is post-injury and you want to see what you have. Robert Griffin got these opportunities as well (and couldn't stay healthy). Geno gets one more injury and he'll be out of the league.
3. Guys like Dan get jobs because they're experienced backups. They can run a scout team. They can learn a playbook. And if your starter gets hurt, they can come in and prevent a dumpster fire.
Many QB's, including Colin, have a limited opportunity and then it's over. Derek Anderson was a former Pro Bowler for the Browns and he's a backup now. Josh McCown would have been out of a job years ago had it not been for Cutler getting hurt (people forget that Arizona was going back and forth between McCown and Warner at the end of Warner's career). David Carr had a decent last season in Houston but never got another opportunity. Josh Freeman put up some decent numbers in Tampa but again, no more opportunities. Jason Campbell was here and then gone. Rex Grossman went from Super Bowl starter to literally who.
>>77267223
yeah he does. Kaep is way too one dimensional and didn't adapt. Look at rgIII same story. Only dude who knew How To adapt was Wilson I guess?
>>77267066
And that's why Sam will never be in the NFL again. He was never serious about playing football. Thumbing your nose at the CFL as if "you're above that" doesn't give you a good team player perception. Teams aren't going to invest in a guy who can't even make it a fucking week. They learned after the Broncos got burnt by drunk ass Clarett years ago. People are mad about Colin but applauded Tim Tebow getting pushed aside because "lol dumb Christian xD" though they are both out of the league for roughly the same reason.
>>77267668
Yes.
PS: The guy the Rams picked over Michael Sam (that Sam said didn't deserve it), Ethan Westbrooks, turned out to be a pretty decent player. 44 tackles and four sacks in 19 career games. So it's not like you can go "well they cut Sam for some bum".
>>77266994
do you not understand anything about the salary cap? Kaep demands too high a salary for a backup troublemaker
>>77267802
>Only dude who knew How To adapt was Wilson I guess?
I attended Wilson's first college game in person. Followed him his entire career at NC State. Wilson was a pro-style QB from day one. If NFL teams didn't have a fetish for tall lanky fuckers, he would have been a top 10 pick coming out of college. Yes, he could run the ball, but that was not his gimmick to make things happen. Even as a two star recruit he was very impressive early on.
Randall Cunningham I would argue is the most successful running QB. Michael Vick is up there too even though he's a dog murderer and should have been hung from a tree for what he did.
>>77266681
He was a gay man in a straight man's sport
>>77266994
You have to tailor an offense to running QB's like Kaep, not so with conventional ones like those two
he wasn't good enough to be anything other than a gimmick
as we've seen with Tebow, gimmicks aren't enough to make a 53-man roster in the NFL. You have to be either good, or if not good, at least be able to learn the playbook if catastrophe occurs.
