New York, Boston, Los Angeles, San Francisco.....big cities with big markets win titles over and over again. In the past decade, only one team outside of the top 10 in payrolls has won the WS, and that's Kansas City.

Same thing happens in football, too. Look at recent SB champs: New England, Denver, Seattle....all teams who have an entire region of the US to themselves. The only small market team that's consistently any good is Green Bay, and that's purely because they were bankrolled by Chicago for a decade, allowing them to build a fanbase and success.
