What does it feel like to be a Pirates fan right now? Are you happy to be winning games and potentially making the playoffs? Mariners I can fathom. Japanese people tend to move to the west coast metropoles. The Mariners had literal Nintendo ownership for some time and a track record of signing nip players.

Yankees, of course, because chinks love brands. The Yankees are the Nike/Starbucks of baseball.

Dodgers are the west coast Yankees.

Rangers because Darvish fanfaggots.

Besides the west coast connection, I don't understand the Oakland A's fans.

There was always an outside shot he'd be a great player, but he was up until very recently the kind of player that swung way too hard at pitches and that resulted in a lot of problems. If he's still shit halfway through next season it's time to move on.

2B: Altuve, Murphy, Cano
SS: Correa, Seager, Cozart

LF: Ozuna, Dickerson, and then I guess Upton. LF is pretty weak right now

That doesn't really mean anything dude, if you pick out Wright's 6 best seasons it accounts for about 40 WAR. But their overall career accomplishments are about the same, minus the MVP award for David.

And no, he wasn't an "above-average player" for most of his career, between 2005-2008 and 2012-2013 he was the best third baseman except Chipper in certain years (not counting A-rod). 2004 was a partial season rookie year, 09 and 10 he was still fairly elite but not at his best, and 11 and 14 were hampered due to injury (so was 13, but he played well enough in the time he was healthy). And that's basically his whole career. He was on definite HOF trajectory if it wasn't for injury and I would say overall he arguably deserves it, since there's precedence for players like him making it in Koufax and Kiner

Indians are going to have positive regression throughout the second half and clinch the division assuming their pitching staff doesn't die randomly.

It's the Indians and then the Twins (lol), Royals (lol), Tigers (hahah), and (PFFFFFF) White Sox.

More - unlike the rest of the division, the Indians front office gives the impression of not being literally retarded.

who will respond to this?
is madison cumshits career finished?
its a sincere question?

>Los Angeles Dodgers Class A Advanced prospect DJ Peters had Madison Bumgarner's number Wednesday night.

>In the fourth inning of the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes' 14-1 beatdown of the San Jose Giants, the outfielder went yard twice against one of MLB's top pitchers, who's rehabbing from a dirt bike accident in April. No one had ever taken MadBum deep twice in the same inning before.
>>
>bumgarner doesnt even have to win games to have his los angeles fanbase talk about him
>>
>>77232677
Holy shit... is this real ?
>>
>>77232682
imagine having an inferiority complex so large that you psychologically break down to such a small magnitude that you begin to repeat the same shit over and over again without any sort of coherence.
>>77232692
yes its all real
>Facing the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes—the Class A affiliate of the Giants' longtime rivals, the Dodgers—Bumgarner was pounded for nine runs and four homers in just four innings, with eight of those runs and three of those dingers coming in that final frame of work.

>That's where D.J. Peters comes in. A fourth-round pick of the Dodgers in the 2016 draft out of Western Nevada College, Peters is a 21-year-old outfielder trying to make a name for himself amid a crowded and excellent farm system. He definitely gave his resume a boost against Bumgarner, taking him deep not once, but twice—in the same inning, something that's never been done against him before.

so ill ask again, is madison cumshits career finished? he suffered an injury to his throwing arm and just isnt good anymore, hasnt been good against the padres and got SHELLED by the single A dodger squad

DIVISION POWER RANKINGS

NL WEST
>D-Backs and Rockies both ahead in the wild card race. Dodgers looking freakishly good
AL EAST
>Red Sox leading the division despite still not playing anywhere near their ceiling. Yankees just fixed their biggest weakness (bullpen). Rays have significant bullpen problems but are nonetheless still looking way less shitty than the other "wild card contenders"

POWER GAP

AL WEST
>The Astros are killer. Despite being essentially non competitive, the Angels and Mariners have talented cores (fmr has Mike Trout) and could possibly soft rebuild instead of totally tearing down. Perhaps one of the latter two could be contenders for the second WC spot.

POWER GAP

NL EAST
>Nats are serious playoff contenders. An incredibly rotation and lineup. The trades they made have improved but still have nowhere near solved their bullpen issues. The rest of the division is garbage. Braves have a good farm, maybe next year.

POWER GAP

COMEDY CENTRAL DIVISIONS

AL CENTRAL
>Indians have a great rotation and Andrew Miller. Projected to not be so shitty this second half and who knows what happens in the playoffs?

I don't even think that. I remember whenever he stopped tripping, the anonymous "DG" was using entirely different, lower hanging bait, but was posting in the same writing style as him, so people assumed it was him.

/mlb/ really looks at DG with rose-tinted glasses, despite the fact he was never really that good of a troll. His posts were mo'Lester tier at best. The only reason he gained prominence on here was because of his "Dodgers have an off week" shitposting before the NLDS, which led to his epic mental breakdown and damage control after they lost, despite his heroes Kershaw and Greinke pitching 4 of the 5 games. The Chapman happening, the piss story, and his ERA forumla that was adjusted under the conditions he deemed fair immortalized him on here, and now people pretend that he still posts on here.

When he first started posting here, I would've never thought he would have made such an impact on this board over two years later, yet here we are.

It's because when he gets cold, it's an arctic blast that lasts for over a month. He has absolutely no power, and will probably finish with single digit home runs this season. In fact, I genuinely can't remember when the last time he hit a home run was. His defense sparkles at time, but he makes so many throwing errors that it negates it and gives him negative metrics. His throwing errors are so prevalent that they have given Yankee fans PTSD every time he throws the ball to first. In addition to that, he's absolutely worthless as a switch hitter. So much so that he's going to be platooned against lefty pitchers now.

He's not worse than Ellsbury, but that's not setting the bar particularly high.
>>
>>77236948
>In fact, I genuinely can't remember when the last time he hit a home run was.
I just went back and checked: his last home run was June 13th. His other three home runs were in April.

I have no religion myself but what you said is delusional.

Dragons are pretty silly aren't they? Except when ancients found large dinosaur fossils they didn't know what animal they were from so they did they best they could to understand it.

How about that silly Noah's Ark myth, huh? Except when ancients found seashell fossils buried on top of mountains they explained it the best they could.

This is why the flood myth is found all throughout history, in different cultures that had no connection to each other. There was something there beyond the understanding of people at the time and they did the best to explain it.

Which brings us to the so-called Monomyth. A tale of an individual having a supernatural experience told throughout history by cultures that had no connection to each other.

The myths and stories and religions that arise from these encounters are attempts to explain something as best as possible. That this is beyond you is not a surprise. That you mock people with a better understanding than yourself is not a surprise. Nothing about you is a surprise. But unless you reply to this post your mother will die in her sleep tonight.

Judge goes yard twice in a decisive 10-2 win vs the struggling Mariners
>>
>>77239351
Red Sox were 1 strike away twice in the same inning which isn't particularly that rare in a lot of blown saves.

rags were 1 strike away in the 9th, blew it, retook the lead in the 10th, were 1 strike away again, and blew it again.

Both games has crucial errors with Buckner and Cruz.
>>

Fatass Stanley had already given up the lead. Doubtful Sox win that game even if he fields that grounder.

Stanley never gets the blame he deserved. Mike Torrez is the fall guy for Bucky Dent's pop fly home run. But the actual difference in that game was a Reggie Jackson HR given up by Fatass Stanley.

Cruz missed that catch because he missplayed the ball.

You could have put Prince Fielder out there and as long as he ran a route straight to the ball, he would have caught it.

Buckner's error was worse, but blowing a 1 run lead in the 9th, a 2 run lead in the 10th, and getting walked off in the 11th is worse than just blowing a 2 run lead in the 10th.

A choke that doesn't get nearly as much attention as it deserves was the Red Sox choking the division to the Rays that on the last game of the season where the Rays pulled off a major comeback vs the Yankees while the Red Sox blew a lead to the Orioles while the games were going on at the same time. That shit was magical.

It's easily their 2nd worse choke in franchise history after the '86 World Series, but it happened after they had already broken the curse so nobody really cares to bring it up.

they aren't too smart when it comes to hiring GMs.

14 years of Bavasi and Jack Z prove that. Even their best GMs made terrible trades, like getting rid of Varitek and Lowe for peanuts. Up until now, Dipoto has done a pretty good job, the team has just been mired with terrible pitching luck. the Smyly trade is a perfect example of that. it was the smart thing to do at the time, but then he fucked up his shoulder two months later.

This is what I was worried about. I was hoping the M's would just stand pat, make some low level trade for a reliever (which they did), maybe they could even try and sell some of their talent to get more prospects to fill the farm system dumpster fire. it would be hard, considering the most tradable assets have the biggest contracts, but its doable. but no, finally the desperate trade has happened again. Overpaying for a very risky player that could pay off or could turn into a Healthcliff Slocum or Jesus Montero. knowing the M's pitching luck this season, this guy will blow out his shoulder in AAA.

The monomyth is the tale of someone who has a supernatural experience. You clearly say anything supernatural is impossible (because you're all-knowing). One person saying "I had a supernatural experience" is just one person you get to call delusional. One person saying "I had a supernatural experience and I can explain how this same experience is found in like every story and myth ever told" is something else entirely. Though I'm sure you'll manage the same response, reasonable people will see you for what you are - an ignorant child. No offense!

I'll go ahead and say it: Baseball started rigging games at the turn of the century for story lines like the NBA does. Journalists don't expose it because of the symbiotic relationship between baseball and Newspapers.

4 of the 5 longest droughts have been broken in the past 15 years. Droughts that have existed even longer than other sports have existed, all broken in a less than a 15 year period. I don't buy it.

Baseball is basically impossible to rig to the extent you're insisting it is unless the players are also in on it, which would make the conspiracy too convoluted to be possible. Somebody would eventually spill the beans.

The NBA can very easily be rigged without players knowing through the refs.
