I meant more of a media following for him. While not on the same level of RG3 or Manziel. Cousins going to play for Shanahan would draw media attention just because of Shanahans prior preference for Cousins. Then the media will stir up buzz about the battle for starting QB in SF and it's just a repeat process for Shanahan. However if he starts off fresh with some mediocre no name "Should have been a late round pick" QB with no controversy over them and just grooms them over the next couple of years. That might just be what Shanahan needs.

He got a lot of flack in his last season because of the numbers he put up. But in reality he's got an amazing mind for football and how the game progresses. He knows a lot of the skills needed to make it in the NFL because of the way Ferrentz runs his program. While other rookie QB's are learing how to 7 step drop back properly Bethard is refining those skill sets. He doesn't have a cannon for an arm and he's not particularly fast. But he's smart. He has faith in his receivers (The downfall from his last season at Iowa) and knows where to put the ball. He can also take a hit and has a driven mind. I'm not saying he's a future HOF QB. But don't be surprised if you see his name pop up in the next couple of seasons in SF.

I grew up with George Kittle when we were kids and when he moved back to Iowa for football we picked up right where we left off. Him being good friends with Beathard meant that I would get to hang out with him from time to time. When you meet Beathard one of the first things you notice about him is his mental drive and desire for his own growth. He's an all around amazing guy to be around and really wants to better himself while bettering the team around him.
