Tennis is lax on doping. I'm pretty sure most of the big guys do it. It's pretty much confirmed Nadal did it but his play style out too much strain on his body.

To sum degree, probably. But he isn't doing anything extraordinary for his age, he was never an athletic freak. He has declined in many ways, his technique has just evolved and taking long breaks will help him stay up there and recover better. Plus fucking the clay season off is a huge boon considering how taxing playing on the surface is. His situation isn't like Tiger's where his decline was all personal (the drama around him plus his cycling off the roids leading to his physical decline,) Federer was still very competitive in his "down years," he just had a younger, better Djokovic and Murray capitalizing on his decline. Djokovic isn't in the way anymore and Murray is Murray so there is that solved.

Sport science keeps getting better, we will keep seeing great players last longer than they did in the past. Guys like Federer and Tom Brady, who are technical and just smarter than their competition will not be as heavily punished by father time since their athleticism wasn't always the best. Maybe guys like Lelbron and Missi will have longer times at their athletic peaks, but it won't be shocking to see these age records being smashed anymore.

Federer is honestly the laziest player you will see on a court at the top level.
