Better question, is there a point of comparison between those 5 teams? Purists will claim that professional football evolved so much that it is impossible to compare early tournaments with the most recent ones.
>>
>>77144128
1970 is the best brazilian team ever, so it's hors concurs, and 1994 was carried by Bebeto and Romario, problably the worst.

Cherry picking can work both ways.

Now I can't cherry pick any relevant Belgium title. Or ANY title at all.
>>
1970 had at least 2/3 players who were arguably the best in their positions EVER, and they played beautiful football (even for today's standards), evolving from 58 and 62. 94 had some great players, but nobody will argue that we were carried by Romário, just like Argentina with Maradona. And 2002, despite all our star names, played on the classic (and efficient, at that time at least) style of Felipão, who was a mix of individual talent and murderball. It was efficient and a lot of people love them because that's the title most people on this board saw, but they weren't particularly great, just like the opposition we faced on that cup. And about 1982, they are on par with the 1974-78 netherlands on best NT's ever, it was a damn shame that they choked the way they did (and to this day people in here remember them fondly but never let the stigma of chokers leave them, hueland media and supporters have no respect whatsoever for chokers).
>>
>>77152496
Because it was. 02 wc was easy mode af. France and Chokentina out in group stage, Spain and Italy refballed to death, just give a look on Germany's run to the final, worst ever.

If you watch the full matches it even is worse. How did football even survive? The level of play is appaling. Despite what was written about those WC1970 matches watching it is horribly underwhelming. Laughable standards.
>>

Don't waste too much time in your mental gymnastics trying to prove your NT relevant. If you want to blindly believe on Wikipedia rankings, go for it, but I don't think it weighs as much as an actual trophy. I don't even give a fuck about Uruguay NT, but at least they usually win continental cups every once in a while.

Maybe your country could set a Euro Caliphates Tourney up and win something worth of consolation.

Belgrade has 2 UCL (EC) finalists, and 1 winner in 1991.

Serbian players played in our 1930. World Cup team and became the first European side to enter semifinals (no Croats and Slovenes were in that team because of boycott).

Olympic gold metal in 1960. (olympic tournament was on par with world cup back then).

And that's just from the top of my head. However, Serbs were the one who made football popular and good in the States, with the likes of Preki, Srba Stamenkovic and our ex goalkeeper Milutin Soskic is the one who trained US goalkeepers like Friedel, Keller etc. and made them world class.
>>
>>77144147
Pelé says 1958 had more great players, but that 1970 had a better team.
I believe it is 1970 because that WC had a lot of teams with their best players ever and because Brazil won all its games, with memorable goals. also because of the "4 number 10 players".
Even some failed chances were memorable, like Pelé almost scoring 1) from the midfield 2) returning a goalkicker shot 3) dribbling a goalkeeper without touching the ball
also because of Jairzinho scoring in all the games.
and also because Commie coach got BTFO

>winning the 2013 FA Cup largely because of it (with Wigan ffs)
>Belgium have ingrained that system (4-3-3/4-2-3-1 as well)
>have much better players, especially for 3-4-3, than what Martinez had to work with at previous clubs
>have added 3-4-1-2 well ahead of the Russia2018
>Henry's work with the stikers is paying off
By his own admission, the previous manager had no plan for how to attack. The days of pure improvisation are well behind us now. Also, in 2014 Belgium had the 2nd youngest squad at the WC (would have been the youngest if not for injuries) and in 2016 started the youngest line-up in the history of the euros. Belgium reached QFs in each of these tournaments which is a decent start after returning from a long absence. Russia2018 will be the first tournament where Belgium can start players that are all in their prime.
>>
>in 1970 an era of risible, amateurish football came to a close
>Rinus Michels helped usher in a new, far better era
>an insanely attacking 3-4-3 helped him win three European Cups from 1970 to 1973
There's quite a lot of winning history of the 3-4-3, in the 70s, 90s and now after another couple of decades.
Also, Holland in 1974 was a massive leap forward compared to Brazil in 1970. Nostalgiafags seem to agree. They often drool a lot more over muh total football.

>Serbs were the ones who made football popular and good in the States
that was the Germans and Italians whom brought the sport and culture originally to this country, and it isnt big here simply because of WWII which ruined the relations between US and Germany/Italy
>Belgrade has 2 EC finals
They don't, only 1
>...and 1 winner in 1991
Porto also won against some French squad in the final after all the good teams killed each other off, in a much more money-influenced era though

I'll give you clubs, but at the national level Croatia still contributed more.
