OJ, and it isn't really even close. There are other examples of athletes who were caught up in similarly horrible situations but most of them are literally who tier like Aaron Hernandez. Tiger fell off hard but once he retires and writes his tell all or whatever people will calm down and pay him the proper respect for being one of the GOAT golfers.

OJ has to be pretty high up there. I grant you he wasn't a sportsman at the time of the murder, but everyone in America liked him. Let's not forget that James Cameron wouldn't cast him as the Terminator because he didn't think Americans would believe someone like OJ Simpson was capable of killing people.
Tiger Woods is full just though. What else would you expect when he's, not only a half breed, but literally the worst mix. Not just nigger and chink, but nigger male and chink female. Crossbreeding with a chink female is just asking for trouble. Just take a look at the Supreme Gentleman. Guaranteed fuck up every time.

Now he is eternally JUST.
>>
I would say OJ if he got convicted of Nicole's murder. He beat the charges, and now he just kind lives in prison obscurity for something else.

He was nowhere near the level of prestige and respect Armstrong had, even at his peak. Armstrong was considered a fucking American hero, especially amid the backdrop of Bush pissing off France for the Iraq War bullshit.

No, when the scandal happened it was huge news, but people forgot about it pretty quickly. His farewell tour in the NBA showed that he was still loved by people
>>
>>76957252
Kobr is one of the few guys who actually became more successful following a scandal.

04-06 Kobe was universally hated. You could say that this was the time that Stern was trying to find a new star, (This is why Wade got 8 billion calls during that Mavs series)

Then, Kobe did this "Black Mamba" thing and remodeled his career, won 2 chips and managed to keep his marriage.
>>
>>76977764
it's not that he cheated. it's the way he did it.
he's a psychopath.
he was in charge of the doping program on the team. he ran it like a military unit, every little detail of when to dope and how to do it was planned by him.
he blackmailed people who knew about it to secrecy.

DAYS before he appeared on Oprah to admit everything he tweeted a picture of him in his trophy room (yeah he had one of those with the jerseys on the wall. in comparison bjarne riis kept his in a box in his cellar) with the title "just hanging out" - with the jerseys visible.

oh yeah and when he actually admitted doping, he left out the years after his return from his retirement. (he placed 3rd at like age 38).
he actually claims he did that clean.

the man really is a psycho.

This or probably Tiger would be my vote. Rouse was huge for a while. She was everywhere on tv, media, magazines and was a golden girl for strong women.People were hyping her up so much that they said she could beat a man in the same weight class.

Her first loss made her go into a depression so deep, that she wanted to kill herself. She says that she didn't kill herself because she wanted to have her boyfriends kids

Even with an embarrassing lost and not fighting for a year, she got a title shot cause her hype. Then she lost even worst the 2nd time, so bad that people just stopped caring and talking about her.
>>
>>76975320
At the time of the murder, he wasn't in athletics. That's what I meant.
>>
>>76964652
He fell 3 times. First was the loss to Douglas, which damage his reputation as the baddest fighter of all time and the fight they had plan against Holyfield

Second was when he went to jail for rape, which killed his prime boxing years and again the fight against Holyfield.

Third was his comeback tour after jail when Holyfield beat him badly twice, so bad that he bit an ear off. This cause him to have his "eat his children" and "make you my bitch" speeches. Which lead to the face tattoos and people thinking he's crazy.

But even after all that, he has recovered with movies and cartoons to be loved greatly by public. He fell hard but has recovered even more.
>>
>>76967964
He would be #1, but he was long retired from football when his trial happened. He didn't even get convicted of murder, he got off and then searched for the killer on golf courses. He didn't go to jail, but it was for stealing his own stuff

Joe Paterno was only mentioned like once in this thread.

He even had fans dress up as him for every single game. I guess, empirically, this shows that he wasn't as big as a letdown as OJ, since we have already forgot about him.
>>
>>76979583
eh, he was gambling for his entire career and just happened to get caught during a very "moral" time in american history. He's an addict. Rose still deserves to be in the hall desu, it's not like the Black Sox scandal. At the very worst, he threw a few regular season games to make sure that his lines came out just right. Does that deserve punishment? sure. but a lifelong ban is a little extreme.

The deal is, he's made a ton of money off of getting banned and every time the "we should get Rose in the HoF" episode comes back on re-runs, he makes money off of it. At this point, it's an incentive for his business. The MLB knows this too, and they hate it because they know Pete isn't sorry for gambling and he never will be. If the MLB were too recind the ban, it would make them look weak and give Pete a big fat smug grin on his face.

My father is adamant he did not do it.
I mean, he has gone crazy trying to prove to me that he didn't mean to kill her. Its all he has spoken about for weeks. I don't even care that much but he seems to really need to believe. He has gone insane. Everytime I mishear him, he tries to use this as proof that he could mishear Reeva as a burglar. This morning he said ''Hello' to me in a whispered voice and I said ''what?'' and he smiled and said ''He's innocent, I told you''. I think he did it but I am starting to think of saying otherwise to escape this shit because my father is annoying now with his stupid shit.

For example last week he forced me to do a fucking replay of the murder, he went into the bathroom and started making noises and forced me to crawl over to the door- he made me crawl , I walked the first time and he shouted at me to stop and start again because ''disabled acoustics are different''. Then he emailed and made me fill in a small 10 questions questionnaire as 'proof' that he sounded like a burglar and not a woman when he was there. Pic related, the questions were biased as fuck as you can see. Its fucking annoying. I think he was so excited for him at the Olympics that he cannot admit he is a murderer.

>tfw lost the picture of the questionnaire

Pretty much. The back issues ended his career but that was bound to happen anyway, given how powerful his swing is.
>>76966695
They pretty much all came back immediately. He's still signed to Nike and he kept getting put on the cover of EA Sports Tiger Woods PGA Tour until 2014.

I think people are vastly overrating how far Tiger has fallen because they see him in the news right now. Once he formally retires (which will most assuredly be sometime in the next 1-3 years, if not now) and makes a couple of appearances on Oprah, people will love him again. He cheated on his wife and such but whatever, America forgives men for that like it's nothing. He never committed any serious crimes or cheated in his sport, which is what people will actually hate you for. In golf, he is top 3 all time at worst and arguably the GOAT at best. His legacy is secure.

Even though he wasn't that famous I can live with this one because he was on track to be a great player and his fall from grace was among the most horrific, if not the most horrific
>Tiger Woods
Barely even a fall from grace, his sporting legacy is fine and the personal shit will be forgotten a couple of years after his retirement.

>Ronda Rousey
Yeah, she fell but only retarded MMA casuals even held her in high esteem in the first place. Plus she never had major issues outside of the octagon. Can't agree with this one. She isn't that much different from a million other busts

He went from being the undisputed GOAT to being somewhere in the top 3 (and arguably still the GOAT since he played in the more competitive modern era). It's not really a huge fall, and the back problems would have happened anyway.

Good post. Joe Pa is literally a super villain compared to some of these suggestions.

I still think it's Tiger Woods because in the late-90s and early 2000s the REALITY of what was GOING TO HAPPEN was he was going to break the all-time major wins number and be the unanimous GOAT. It's just nuts what happened and how far he fell.

It's not like Aaron Hernandez was going to be considered the greatest football player of all time or anything. He wasn't the face of a sport and arguably the most famous person of his race on the planet.

OJ's murder trial brought up a shitload of issues: interracial relationships, spousal abuse, racist perceptions of the LAPD (this was after teh 92 riot) and the nature of sports celebrities.

People don't realize how big OJ was before the murders. He was infallible. I compare his fall to Bill Cosby's. Both were icons representing good black men.
