KYS. The thing that is common on all player positions and positioning is trying to predict what is going to happen. Goalie takes wrong position, he can't recover for rebound or re-position himself if pass. The thing with Gretzky as offensive counter part is the fact that he had idea where to find open space for shooting chance or passing chance. His line mates usually knew how to communicate.

If you train enough players don't even have to communicate with each other. Pic kinda related. They basically refused to speak to each other for years, still played the greatest hockey of that time.
