OJ had literally the greatest defense team ever assembled for an American criminal trial. Also, he was a hugely charismatic and widely loved football legend. In contrast, the state had two bumbling idiots (one of which was basically a rookie) as their prosecution team. Additionally, the police involved in the case were all wildly untrustworthy and part of a department which at that point had a horrific reputation. The prosecution did an incredible job and the defense made virtually every mistake imaginable. It's really no wonder that OJ beat the rap.
