It's miles ahead in the segment between hardcore simulations in PC and the normie market in racing games. Just a good balance, really nice to look at, and perfectly for relaxing.
I'd wish though GT on PS would step it up a bit though, after Forza clearly overtook them, they've gotten lazy, maybe some competition would spice things up, the weather feature is nice, though. Looks good, hopefully it impacts gameplay just as much as well.
It's also really impressive how they crushed the NfS series with Horizon 1, there hasn't been a good NfS in years, and it's just impressive how effortlessly Horizon is just so much better.

>replay function

Well, on the one hand, I really hate the principle of it, but then again, can't tell you how many hours of my life I've wasted redoing races from start to finish, just because I've missed a breaking point or been distracted, so, I'm not to sure how I feel about it. I'll probably start hating it but still end up using it over and over again.

I just hope they don't kill it with microtransactions (again) or turn it into a grindfest with a fastskip button, and also, it really is time to find a way for mulitplayer online racing not being made unbearable by contact from noobs or trolls, it's always been the weakness of racing games online, and I don't feel like non-collision car models aren't a way to go. Maybe a system where you get the full effect of crashing into someone else, but he doesn't get affected? I don't know. I feel like if they solve this, they really will be undefeatable.

Also, if Force India gets sold, who'd you like to see buying them?

As much as that would be a great story, I don't think EJ has enough funding to sustainably run an F1 team in the current cost climate.
I dunno what Mallya has done, because he has massive money issues too, but somehow all reports indicate that Force India seems to be distanced enough from all that.

That's some shady question actually, if we accept the fact that it will be bought before the next engine formula we can say literally everyone, even Ron Dennis or old Bernie. If it will be bought in coincidence of new engine formula, I'd say Audi

As someone who watched the 70s and 80s thanks to torrents and private tracker, I must say a lot of races from this era are overrated. The gap between each teams were too big and for one Jerez 86, you have 5 races with the leader one minute ahead of the rest (or even one lap ahead during Prost-Senna's era).
>>
>>76562681
From my very accurate study of all the seasons in F1:

One clear winner throughout the whole season (or """""carbabby""""" tier):
>1970 (Rindt)
>1971 (Stewart)
>1972 (Fittipaldi)
>1973 (Stewart)
>1975 (Lauda)
>1977 (Lauda)
>1978 (Andretti)
>1979 (Scheckter)

Two-Way WDCs decided in the last few races:
>1976 (Hunt, Lauda)

Three-Way WDCs decided in the last few races:
>1974 (Fittipaldi, Regazzoni, Scheckter) -with two races to go, 5 drivers were still in contention for the WDC-

>The 1970s were boring as well since only the 1974 and 1976 seasons were not dominated by a single driver.
>>
>>76563434
Hamilton and? Alonso?
>>
Honestly 2011>>>>>2017

At least back then you could easily hate Seb, Ferrari were a proper bumbling italian team, Lewis was starting to become the hateable git he is now, we had a nicer set of drivers and the good races were brilliant.

We haven't had a really great race this year just a bunch of meh-okay ones.

In 1994, the original Team Lotus went bankrupt. The company was sold to James Hunt's brother David, who let the Pacfic F1 team use the Lotus name/logo. Pacific themselves went bankrupt a year later and Lotus disappeared from F1 for 15 years.

A Malaysian billionaire called Tony Fernandes started an F1 backmarker team in 2010, called Lotus Racing. He licensed the name from Malaysian car company Proton who bought Lotus Cars/Group Lotus in 1996 after Team Lotus's bankruptcy. Despite having bought the name from his Malaysian nepotistic buddies, his rights to use the Lotus Racing name got terminated for breaching contracts and sullying the name.

So, to get around that, he bought the rights from Hunt's Team Lotus, now an unrelated company to Group Lotus, in order to continue using the Lotus name. But, meanwhile, Group Lotus decided that they wanted to stay in F1, and took the opportunity to sponsor the former Renault team, who had been sold to private owners Genii at the end of 2009. This meant that, as Team Lotus were distanced from Group Lotus, Fernandes's Lotus were the "unofficial" one, and Lotus Renault GP were the "official" Lotus.

So, either through being pressured by Bernie or other reasons, Fernandes went and bought Caterham, the car company who bought the rights to the Lotus Seven when Lotus stopped producing it in the '70s, and rebranded his team as Caterham for F1. Lotus Renault GP dropped the Renault name and became Lotus F1 Team until 2015, when Genii decided to pull the plug, stopped funding the team (they almost went bankrupt several times) and eventually sold the team back to Renault.
>>
>>76574326

Worth noting that this all goes back to Colin Chapman splitting Lotus racing and Lotus Cars in to separate companies, so that if one went bankrupt it wouldn't drag the other down with it.

>Right now I feel that it's a bit almost unfair to Nico, who has to do a lot," he said. "The team is clearly very dependent on him

>When Nico is out of the game, including for reasons beyond his control like [in Monaco] when he had his gearbox failure, we struggle to finish in the points, despite a number of cars that were also not finishing the race

>It was the first time in a while that we'd done that, and for me that weekend was almost a restart for the season for the relationship between Jo and the team, that is finally providing him the right platform in order for him to improve his game, and hopefully eventually to deliver

>That process has to lead to a position where Jo will also make a contribution to the championship

There's a rumor that a new Chinese financed team stationed in Oxfordshire will enter F1 soon.

According to Christian Horner they have tried to poach RB staff and have already hired former Manor employees.

20% of being true I'd say.

Hulk has really bad luck. Force India is really strong/consistent this year. IIRC in 2013 when Kimi refused to show up for Lotus, they wanted to bring Hulk onboard for last race. Force India owed Hulk 1.5~ years worth wage, so Ferrari cleared is dues and blocked his Lotus move (when they finally settled with Kovalainen).

>Hulk has really bad luck
Not really desu. Most of his 'bad luck' was his own driver errors in hitting other cars - Brazil 2012 and a few times last season.
What I don't get is whether those rare occurrences are major enough to overshadow his seemingly very good pace.

He should've won anyway, it was driver error that cost him that podium. But yeah, until that point, it looked a really really great drive.

Don't remember Monaco last year very well, but I do recall him getting shafted by strategy a few times, including during qualifying at Baku

he threw away Brazil 2012 by himself

other drivers get fucked over by """"bad luck"""" just as often as Hülkenberg, but you don't see immature fanboys whine about it because it's racing and they get over it
>>
>>76579629
that one was probably his fault but nobody can tell me that you're not unlucky when you lose that type of lead
and don't put """" around bad luck, when you get punctures or shitty strategies or a dumb safety car then it is bad luck

and the reason I defend Hülkenberg more then other drivers is that other driver he beat before have more success and I simply think that that is not fair, is it hard to understand?
>>
>>76579665
Esteban Gutierrez also had a good junior series record.

He was utter shit in F1.

Eventually you need to accept that maybe Hülkenberg isn't all that his junior career made him out to be.
>>
>>76579688
>Eventually you need to accept that maybe Hülkenberg isn't all that his junior career made him out to be.
yeah that's why point out that he was (while only a bit) quicker than Perez (as seen by him outqualifying him in all three seasons and Perez when he got ahead most of the time that was from Hülkenberg getting fucked over)

Eventually you need to accept that maybe results don't show everything and that sometimes you also have to look at how those results came about.
>>
>>76579688
Let's just take luck out of it and look at pure speed. Nobody is saying Hulkenberg is slow, he has mainly been on par at least with teammates. Not having a podium does not discount anything. Now including luck, Perez was plain luckier in 2016, this is fact, performance wise the two were on par.
>>
>>76579718
>>76579726
Perez had better race pace last season, is kinder on his tyres and tends to be better on strategy, whether that last one is down to himself or his race engineer I can't say. But I can say that Hülk's race strategies have always been a weakness of his. Maybe now he's in a different team with a different race engineer he'll improve there.

Even in 2014 when Hülk was faster over the course of the season Perez was set for a second podium in Canada before he fucked it all up and crashed into Massa. Hülkenberg was never in contention for one all season.
>>

Because there are 3 passing zones in Canada. Perez couldn't stay with Big Dick Rick outside of the DRS zone into the last braking zone because he didn't have the mechanical grip.

Ocon had better tires and could have stayed close enough to Big Dick Rick before the DRS zone to pass in the braking zone. If RIC did the VES defense of sacrificing the overall lap time to use more electrical power and more fuel to defense the DRS zone, Ocon had the performance to pass into the hairpin or at Turn 1.

Vettel's reputation is as a good qualifier and good front-runner, but a less-than-stellar wheel-to-wheel racer. I don't think that would change.

Yes, I bet he stays there if they don't. On Honda's side it sounds like they have a decent engine and for some reasons it doesn't run well in the McLaren.
>Will Hulk ever get a top drive?
No
>Will Renault get a front running car?
Maybe, they are still a "new" team compared to the front runners. They have quite a gap to cross
>How does Bottas hold up against Lewlew so far?
Pretty well considering the team has unlimited data of Hamilton and his previous set ups on tracks and they have next to nothing for Bottas.
>>
>>76585585
> if Gimi retired next year, how will he be remembered (other than LE ICE CREAM HE)
He will always be remembered same way people remember Eddie fucking Jordan, you can't really separate Gimi's personality from his racing performance. I doubt many people would think of him as a carbaby that lucked into championship, but nobody will either say he was GOAT. Pretty much the same way people remember JPM.
> if Perez or some other upstart beats Vettel Ricciardo style, is that the end of his reputation
Yes. I doubt someone like Perez would beat Vettee though.
> Will Alonso stay at McLaren if they get a Merc?
Yes. He's already backing up from his claims of leaving team, yet mclaren never confirmed anything about them and honda parting ways.
> Will Hulk ever get a top drive?
Unless Renault makes something stupidly dominant, and I really doubt that will happen, no. Hulk literally blew it by singing for Renault.
>Will Renault get a front running car
Their engine is still shit. No major upgrades until 2018, and something tells that even by 2018 there won't be anything good.
> How does Bottas hold up against Lewlew so far
Like a number two driver that is going to win wcc against Gimi. Rosberg was so much better.

>Pretty well considering the team has unlimited data of Hamilton and his previous set ups on tracks and they have next to nothing for Bottas.

And remember Hamilton announced there would be no data-sharing between the garages this year. I guess Choco Senna wanted an easy WDC after two hard-fought ones.
>>
McLaren can't have a Mercedes PU next year can they? The deadline to switch has come and gone.
Alonso wouldn't be vague about leaving when he has said he wants a winning car if he wasn't staying, he knows they will have the same Honda PU right now and hasn't said he is leaving yet so he will be staying imo.
>>
>>76585824
McLaren has not announced a change and, as unhappy as they are, I think they want to wait it out for the rumored formula change for 2019.

McLaren needs those Hondabucks and they do prefer to stay a quasi-works team. They also want to bet on Honda getting it right.

That doesn't help Alonso any but, eh, he's gone anyway.

Alonso is staying unless he moves put of F1 which I don't think he will. McLaren have a Honda PU next season though I never thought they wouldn't, they are playing the long waiting game with Honda. Unless they are changing and have kept it quiet for a month which is very unlikely.
The money point is interesting, would it break McLaren to have to pay out the contract to break it?
>>76585977
It would require the other teams to vote on allowing it wouldn't it? And pretty much everyone but McLaren and Mercedes (maybe Williams too) would be leaning in the no direction.

If Kimi'd put any real effort in his career he would be considered as one of the greatest.
But as such, he's a skilled driver that everybody loves and respects in one way or another.

He literally thinks he's a big tough man because he hates cats and gets drunk all the time.
