Reminder that the last non-Mexican team to reach the CCL finals was IMFC, a Canadian team. Canadian teams have been doing well in the CCL the last few go arounds, mostly dominating American teams. Superdraft players are pretty much all US college players, so they lose 4 years of development. NCAA soccer is trash and the best athletes win, not the best soccer players..

There will be about 5-10 players in each draft that will turn out to be above average and stick in the MLS, the rest go to USL forever and by the time they learn how to play professional soccer, they are too old.

Basically if your team doesn't have a half decent academy or is not even trying to recruit new players, MLS needs to boot out your ownership because you don't deserve a team. The reason why FC Dallas has done consistently well, and why TFC is currently hitting their stride is because of depth, that comes from academies not a handful of draft picks with questionable quality.

Academy depth is how MLS is going to beat Liga MX teams in CCL, considering the salary cap.

Then other local developers started bitching that the process wasn't open enough and that everyone should have been allowed to submit a proposal and that Soccer City shouldn't be allowed to pass until everyone gets a chance. At some point SDSU broke away completely and said they wanted the majority of the area FS Investors was seeking to purchase to use for campus expansion not today, not next year, but 30 years from now, which is why Soccer City couldn't happen. That has completely stalled out and now...

The attendance is usually 30ishk with the high being 37k and that is once a season. SDSU was demanding a minimum capacity of 40k. FS made the compromise of building the stadium in a manner that would be expandable in time in order to meet growing demand, but that wasn't good enough for SDSU.
