You're right that he was a different player after World Cup 2006. He looked like he was physically and mentally different after that summer. All the scrutiny after the Rooney incident must have hardened him psychologically. Also a lot people don't know that he tried to use the Rooney thing to force a move to Spain that summer. Ferguson told him to fuck off, get his head down and start working. In retrospect though if you go back and look at the end of the 05/06 season there were signs he was about to go beast-mode. He was scoring some incredible goals and playing good football, even if it was without pressure - United were never really in the running that season.

My first Football Memories are from 2004, I was 9 year olds (ye Im 22 rite now and im on /sp/ but I guess i am excused coz i started browsing it at 20). I recognise this, that's his most obvious strength. It's ironic though, because he does all this out of vain, and he has trained himself to be able to compete and be a star at the highest level, but it all comes out so embarrasing.
