Then you had a round of expansion in cities where there was absolutely no demand for basketball, but owners get a hefty bonus everytime a team comes into the league. So that added the Magic, Heat, Wolves, Raptors, Grizzlies, and Hornets. 5 of those 6 have never won a ring and 4 of those 6 have never even been to the Finals.

That's 10 franchises added in like 20 years, and all of them aside from the Heat and Spurs are basically worthless.

Why does everyone always assume in sports that the past was better when all the evidence points to the exact opposite?

The players are faster, stronger, more athletic, have better training, better coaching and better development every single year. I don't see any evidence for any of the major sports regressing in terms of coaching or talent or anything really, there's too much competition to be better and too much money at stake.

Klay Thompson is pretty much on Reggie Miller's level in terms of shooting already. The only player that played like Draymond in the 90s was Charles Barkley, and he was seen as a huge anomaly. Now a team pretty much needs a stretch big just to compete.

Jahlil Okafor would've been a Hall of Famer if he played in the 90s, now he's pretty much worthless because there's more effective ways to score than playing in the post.
