Lagares does not hit at a major league level, and his defense has declined since 2014. Unless Nimmo starts to hit well, then we can run a platoon, but otherwise we should sign a real CF, I don't know if anyone is available though.

Flores can play 3B, he's gotten slightly better every year, he'll probably only continue to improve if we let him play every day

And yeah Terry's contract is up so he'll be retiring even if this season wasn't a bust, he's one of the oldest managers in sports right now

he's hitting above .260 this year though. i agree that he's not a great guy to be starting every day, but do you really think the wilpons are gonna spend big on another outfielder? pretty sure the cespedes deal has used up their FA money for the next 4 years.

flores is really better at 2B tbqh, and walker is leaving. unless you want to start TJ rivera at 3rd, i think we need to look beyond our system.

bruce is arguably the mets MVP, he has value. walker is a professional hitter, and AL teams can DH him. he'll fetch something. you're probably right about grandy though, we should have flipped him in the offseason. i'd like to keep blevins though, he's so valuable.

You're forgetting about cabrera, they'll probably take the team option on him so our infield can be droobs, rosario, flores, and smith, or if he's not ready yet then rivera until he is. And yeah flores can play whatever position, the point is we don't need a new infielder yet. After next season we will need to sign a 3B if wright is not going to finish his contract, I don't think we have any promising 3rd baseman in the farm right now

Hopefully Lagares can keep up his current offense, but it's still below average (95 wRC+), and frankly I doubt he will, he's been behind the count since 2014. If they really have no money then I guess it's fine to stick with him, but CF is the one weak point in our lineup next season IMO

I'm not sure about another pitcher, Thor/deGrom/Wheeler/Matz is fine, but Harvey has been pitching like trash ans Gsellman below average, if none of them or Lugo steps up then signing a new Bartolo-esque guy would be smart

If they had someone who can give you 6-7 innings reliably going every 5th day instead of Harvey or Gsellman, I think we'd be in the race for a WC spot. The bullpen has been truly terrible, but a lot of that is because they're so damn overworked.

All the Mets need to do is improve their defense. Their BABIP against is like a billion standard deviations above the mean.
