I actually have never been as bothered by the bandwagon concept as others. To me it makes perfect sense: a team which performs well earns the respect and support from its city. The better the team performs, the more people will come. Of course -- why would the success of the team not influence overall interest? That's one of the byproducts of success: more interest.
I think some fans are just rabid and territorial, and think that if a normal citizen starts liking the team then their ground is being infringed upon, when in reality the "bandwagoners" are actually a sign that the team is doing well...and they will spend their money on the team, which in turn helps the organization. Everyone wins.
