For me, in a rough order, it's:

1. Football
2. Rugby Union
3. Cricket
4. Rugby League
5. Formula 1
6. Tennis
7. Golf
8. Snooker
9. Cycling
>>
Football

Is MotoGP bigger than F1 then? I guess you have two top riders in MotoGP but are losing pretty badly in F1.

3.) College Football
4.) Pro Wrestling
5.) MLB
6.) Boxing
7.) NHL
>>

Pretty much nobody cared about F1 in Spain before you-know-who won that one race in Hungary, though the fans of new coinage will obviously deny it.
>>
>>76378147
>Fucking jej. Dilma Rouseff was shit anyway
Agreed, but we're now closing in on the impeachment of her sucessor who got caught in an even bigger scandal, and the guy who'll likely succeed him after will probably get impeached too. I've been watching the newscast more than the hueland versions of match of the day.

3.Meme sports with a decent chilean in it
>>
>>76377951
it's quite complex

1st is divegrass without a doubt

then it becomes tricky

the one that will draw the most viewers is rugby union, especially for the NT, but tennis is often just as popular, and they don't draw the same demographics

at club level rugby union is popular too, but it's 2nd only in south west France (or even 1st above divegrass in certain special snowflake areas), it's not really popular elsewhere

basketball is 3rd or 2nd depending on the area

then you have handball and volleyball, but they're quite marginal

then you have cycling that is extremely popular for 3 weeks during summer with the Tour de France

Football (1 962 241 licenciés)
Tennis (1 039 337 licenciés)
Equitation (663 194 licenciés)
Basketball (641 367 licenciés)

>>76378208

>>76378264
Make sense

>>76378273
>the one that will draw the most viewers is rugby union, especially for the NT, but tennis is often just as popular, and they don't draw the same demographics
That makes sense. For us I would say rugby is perhaps slightly more popular than tennis in terms of year-round support for club teams and stuff, but as you say, it's different demographics, and obviously Wimbledon is one of the biggest sporting events of the year on TV.

>basketball
I never knew this was big in France. That's interesting. Over here we don't watch basketball at all. It's a very niche sport, definitely behind all the ones I mention in the OP.

>then you have cycling that is extremely popular for 3 weeks during summer with the Tour de France
What about the Criterium du Dauphine, Paris-Roubaix? They're big races.
>>
>>76378292
It is weird that you're like the only country outside of Britain to care about darts.

>>76378333
I meant in terms of fandom/viewership, but this is interesting too.

Handball really is a big European thing isn't it. We don't have it at all over here.

>>76378347
>rugby
Based. I think I knew you guys were into rugby but still, that's cool.

>>76378365
Handball again. Crazy that Europe seems to love this weird sport, whereas it isn't a sport in Britain at all.
>>
>>76378333
licences are extremely tricky to consider, though

Some years ago, in order to make their number bigger for dickwaving contests, the handball federation started to deliver "one-day licenses". Like when a club set up an exhibition tournament for city events like garage-sells, or fund gathring for some NGO, beach-handball tournament in summer, or stuf like that, they give this kind of licenses to the random guys who show up for the fun as casuals. And in the end, it represented a significant increase, but they're nowhere near being significant for the actual popularity of the sport. As an example, I know that in some regional federation those licenses could represent as much as a third of the yearly numbers.

As you can imagine, when they saw this little trick, the other federations (basketball, volleyball...) reacted and started to deliver their own versions of those licenses.

Also, well, equitation is so high due to the overwhelming number of middle-class little girls who want to ride ponies in poneyèclub for a year then stop.

>>76378424
the most popular sport after football in Europe is basketball

handball is quite popular too, but not as much, and often comes 3rd after basketball

a strange thing is that most countries that have basketball as their 2nd sport also like handball, while countries that have handball as their 2nd sport often don't give a shit about basketball
