I think they're more or less the same in attack, maybe guys in the WB slot get forward a little more, I don't know. when you're defending, WBs will sit a little higher, which might seem like a problem, but wide defenders are so fucking BAD at defending anyway in fm17 that it's probably more useful to have them somewhere they're better placed to intercept a pass to a winger rather than getting beaten 1v1 for the 500th time
and then just play with 3 CBs
